There are several suggestions as to what the building was before it was a restaurant but it lends itself to it's new role perfectly. On a sunny day the light shines in through the glass roof and shows off the building and the ambiance to the best effect. the menu is what you'd expect from a Cafe Rouge and we have never had a bad experience with the food here. The service can be a little slow when busy but the surroundings make up for it. A lovely spot for a lunch time snack or Sunday Lunch.

I also wish it came with some bread because the sauce was very tasty and needed mopping up with something. My husband had the Chicken Liver Pâté with brioche (this became my source of mopping bread). It was a generous portion nicely presented in a little preserve jar. He seemed very happy with it and I enjoyed the bit I tasted. For the main course my husband had the Lamb Shank special. Succulent and fell of the bone. It was sat on a bed of mashed potatoes which I think is one of the best accompaniments for such a meat. I was really in the mood for seafood so I ordered the Seabass. Two large fillets arrived with a sweet beurre blanc sauce. I think it is a main that definitely needs sides so ordered some beans and fries. They were what you'd expect them to be.
