We purchased our garage door only a few years ago and it's discoloring in multiple areas. Their suggestion was to clean with dish soap. It doesn't get hit by sprinklers and we are in a warm climate (lake Havasu az) it is super faded. We paid a lot for our door and the wood look coloring just is low quality. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE !!! NOT "second to none" !!! Had to repaint new steel garage door with factory paint to match condo association required color. Needed to know what prep was recommended for paint over. There is no customer service phone number on the CHI website, only an email inquiry form. We originally wanted to support the local business, but we didn't expect this company to be so terrible. Never buy CHI doors, I placed an order in July and waited three weeks for delivery. When it arrived, two door panels were damaged. I had to wait another two weeks for replacements, and during installation, we noticed that two panels had different colors and styles. They said they will reorder the whole door. They asked me to wait for another three weeks to resolve this issue. I realized that the wrong installed color actually suited better, so I requested the light color. We hope the company can do something about their big mistake rather than us bearing the consequences alone. They refused with a terrible attitude. I DO NOT recommend their doors. I am on my 8th garage door with CHI Overhead Doors in 2 years. I originally purchased 2 doors from them (a 1 car and a 2 car door) in August 2020. The larger of the 2 doors "bubbles" after only a few weeks installed. The 8th door replaced under warrant was installed on Friday May 20th 2022 and by Thursday May 27th it already "bubbled". They must be using cheap Chinese steal or not letting the injected insulating foam cure properly. After reading their "Yelp" reviews I should have sent this over to my attorney over a year ago. I have three CHI model 5983 Accents Woodtone Dark Oak insulated doors that were installed in August of 2016. The finish on the lower 2 sections of the doors looks like it is either fading or wearing thin. This is not happening on the upper sections, so I have to assume that rainfall splashing against the lower portions of the doors is the cause. Also there are quite a few small chips in the finish on these lower sections as well. As I understand it, the finish on these doors is only warranted for three years. Needless to say, I am pretty disappointed in the way that the finish on these doors has held up over time. I contacted the dealer that sold and installed the doors, but they were no help since the finish is out of warranty. I also contacted CHI via their "Contact Us" link on their website on July 16, 2020 when I first noticed these issues with my doors, but I never received a reply. read more

Warranties express materials and workmanship. Well forget the workmanship part. The torsional springs covered by a 3 year warranty were not properly adjusted by the dealer when originally installed. I discovered that when the sensors were damaged and had to open the door manually. I contacted the dealer and they said a service fee would be charged. Why isn't the fee waived due to poor workmanship? I called CHI and they said it's between me and the dealer. Lousy company. read more

I ordered garage doors several months ago and they still have not completed my order and keep on promising production dates. When the production date arrives I get an e-mail from them pushing the production and delivery dates farther out and then the cycle repeats each month. They are very dishonest fraudsters that I would not use again! I can not sell my home until the garage doors are installed and they have been made aware of this but still only offers lies about production and delivery dates! There was excessive delay in the manufacture of the door. This review is a summary of what happened after the installer vendor finally gave me the name/contact info of the manufacturer because they were being given stonewall tactics as to when the door would be delivered three months after the order. The customer service is awful, the management is unavailable and when you do get someone on the phone that claims to have vested ownership, they "pass the buck." First I was told that the company does not speak with the general public, they would only speak to the installer vendor who sold me the door. Three mo after the order my installer was clueless as to when CHI would provide the door. As briefly mentioned already, my first encounter with CHI was their customer service and it was all kinds of awful. Extended silence, no introduction, no guidance as to who to contact for my complaint... not just the first time, in total it was every one of my 7+ times calling in. My installer was being told that project was in queue, then it was a supply chain squeeze that delayed production, then it was the labor force because the majority of their "specialized local work force" had significant cultural druthers to suspend their labor due to Covid workplace uncertainty. I reached out to the CEO on Linkedin - Crickets. Then after 4 months in, there was a manifest emailed to me that it was on the truck ready for delivery: great expectations; except that it didn't show up in tact/complete. Three weeks after that, the missing panels were on a delivery route manifest: except it didn't show up at all, and it was speculated that it could have been delivered to the wrong city, but no one could verify. I reached out to the CEO on Linkedin again- crickets. I called in and asked to speak to the CEO. A couple of days later someone called me up and wanted to hear my complaint. He was not the CEO but he represented himself as a right hand man of the CEO which was told to handle my complaint personally in proxy of the CEO. Covid had given them a curve ball and that they were trying to weather their labor and supply chain issues. I reviewed with him the chain of events and asked if the missing panels were ever found, but he shared with me that the panels had not ever gone through their special "new factory" process. I asked why the two missing panels showed up on a delivery manifest if they hadn't been created yet. No real answer, just information on how people were still being trained at their brand new facility. I asked how long before I would get the full product that I paid for and at first there was hesitancy to give me a date but he did agree to "keep me informed" where in the queue it was. I mentioned that it was a nice product but not nice enough to wait 6 months for; I asked for financial consideration and he said he acknowledged the reason. He mentioned that he would look into the delays and speak to CHI ownership and work it out with the vendor installer so that a discount could trickle down to the end price. I informed him that I had already made arrangements for additional work and financial consideration with the installer but that the installer was taking heat for a manufacturers delays. He assured me that he understood the frustration and that he could see where a financial discount would be in order. I told him I would wait until the door was in hand to finalize the discount request. We agreed to reconnect at that time. The next couple of weeks I received text message updates about the door. Approximately seven (7) months after order the door was installed at my elderly parents home. After successful installation, I reached back out to the guy who picked up the ball to update and discuss final financial consideration. I reintroduced myself, and he stated that he remembered me. One of the first things he mentioned to me was that the company had changed their policy on refunds 30 days previous. I expected to still receive a partial financial consideration due to the fact that I had made the complaint previous to that policy change. He used the "if there was anything I could do..." line. He insincerely stated that "short of writing a personal check to me, there was nothing he could do..., and that "he had said he would only consider it." I asked to get ownership involved and he stated that he had an equity share...I asked for senior management and he stated that they were too busy dealing with 10 corporate accounts with delays to expect anyone to reach out to me soon. I was given the "sales managers" name and a promise that that person would reach out to me within a week's time. The reason I'm writing this review- Crickets I was made to believe that CHI would value my premium door order and acknowledge that their delay was a major safety inconvenience for my elderly parents (which live in a far state from where I am). Their vested representative told me lies so I wouldn't cancel the order. read more

I paid one of CHI Overhead Door distributors Ancro Door of Fort Payne for 3 insulated garage doors with tinted glass on January 4th 2021. Didn't receive my garage doors until October 2021 and there were five broken pieces of glass. Now five months later and we still don't have replacement glass. CHI has told Ancro Door Co. that the glass has been shipped like 3 different occasions but every time the truck shows up at Ancro there is no glass. Never ever ever would I buy from CHI or recommend there garage doors to anyone. Absolutely horrible customer service and communication. They literally don't give a shit about their customers. Don't buy these doors! After ordering two doors through a local dealer it took almost a year for them to arrive, only to find out they had the wrong window panel on one door, and the other door was the complete wrong model entirely. I have a CHI door and opener in my house that we put in a couple years ago... I like the company I hired to put the door in and I like the door and opener. I have emailed CHI twice with a question over the past month about adding WIFI to my existing door including my phone number and email address and I have never heard anything back. If a company is this poor on following up with a simple question I doubt I will purchase my next door from them. Absolutely terrible to work with. Their website says their customer service is "second-to-none' but that can't be further from the truth. Our garage door was installed with a missing window. After talking with our dealer he confirmed the order was placed correctly, it was the factory that messed up the order. How you can mess up an order this badly where a window is missing that makes the whole garage door look stupid is beyond me. Terrible quality control, this does not speak well of their product. My dealer said it would be two months to get the replacement, which is ridiculous after already waiting two months for the door, so that's four months to get our correct door installed. I tried contacting CHI through their online form but never heard back after a week. So then I called (via the number listed on Google as they don't list their number anywhere on their website). The male customer service rep I spoke to was incredibly rude and couldn't have cared less about helping me. I knew from the moment he answered the phone from his tone he wanted this conversation to be over. The highlight of the conversation was when I asked if our replacement panel order could be put at the front of the line so it can be done sooner and he said "there is no line, we complete orders in the order they are received." So you literally have a line of orders! They are putting no effort into correcting their mistake in a timely manner. read more

I love my garage doors with regard to the look. I also love my installers. The doors took a very long time to come in and when they did, my house was the talk of the neighborhood. That was about 2.5 months ago. I discovered scratches on them on multiple panels and some even camouflaged with the wrong color paint (looked like red nail polish) -- which was an indication that CHI knew they were scratched and tried to hide it and delivered them anyway. I reported the scratches with multiple photos the day after they were installed and my installer took the issue back to CHI..... I'm STILL WAITING to receive the replacement panels 2.5 months later which is LONGER than what I waited in the first place when I first ordered them. Three stars because they are beautiful and I want to give a 5.... but three because they deserve a one star for crummy customer service and 'scheistery' too since their actions were clearly deliberate. Now they are trying to blame the delay on FedEx and Amazon and the holidays even though the damages were reported in early October. Whatever. They should have put the repair and replace at the top of the production line and taken care of this immediately. read more

Had 2 9x7 doors installed by Duke's Garage Doors of Dandridge, TN apx 03/10/2016. I used existing openers Install went OK wasn't told of any existing problems About 7/25/2016 wife noticed gap apx 1/2 inch between gasket on bottom of door and floor and screw laying on garage floor. Called Duke's garage on 7/25/2016 left message with sectary about problem was told she would give message to owner. Called 2 more times plus called owners cell phone had to leave message on8/03/16. Still no call back finally filled out survey on C.H.I. site got a call back next day 8/15/16 from employee George and explained problem he said he would call installer for me. Well got call back from George and told me to just wait to hear from installer today is 1 week still no call back. Will wait another couple of days and call George again. The first time he didn't really show much interest. Sure glad I didn't get openers from Dukes Garage on the other 2 doors I had installed before this problem started. Saved money may have to go to another garage door place to get this door fixed sure hope not. Guess what a few hours after I wrote review they called and came to house and did excellent job on repair. read more
