Came to ER via ambulance in pain, worse than I have ever had. I could not straighten out my leg and…read moreif I or anyone else touched it I screamed in pain. I had several spinal fusion surgeries from 2004 to 2014. But I knew it was NOT my spine that was causing this pain. My spine did not hurt any more than it always has. And I had my pain medications with me but I did not take any because the RX did not tell me I could. Incidentally, I have been a Registered Nurse for the past 45 years. The ER Physician ordered every Xray, MRI, blood testing that I have had before. There was nothing that showed up that was not there before. The ER Doc came in approximately 11/2 hours later and told me "they couldn't find nothing but he thought for sure it was my spine/spinal fusions that has caused this pain". He did try to examine my leg/hip but before he touched me I panicked and he walked away from me and told me that he was not going to touch me since any touch caused me to have this awful pain. Now my significant other arrived very shortly after I was being taken by ambulance. He does not drive. Thank God I have wonderful neighbors that were already behind the ambulance when I was taken. My significant other is also college educated and is curious as to how the simplest things work. He was looking in the closets and all the drawers trying to figure out how they worked so smooth. That is when the ER Doc came back in and said since my pain has decreased and my leg is now moving better he was going to send me home. He left the room but several minutes later one of the nurses came in and sat down in the chair, saying nothing at all. I knew what the ER crew was thinking. I confronted her and asked if they thought I was just trying to get some heavy duty medications from them. She denied it, of course and got up to leave the room and I said that I have my purse filled with my pain medications and why would I want more?? Or is it just because I am an American Indian?? I was a little angry obviously. Now it was after midnight when they discharged me. I also forgot to add that I am unable to walk at all. Our neighbor was not available to bring us home so we had to call a taxi. It was -24 degrees below zero and all I had on was a nightgown and underwear. No sock, no shoes, no coat. ("Honey" left the house in such a hurry that he did not think I was going to be discharged and/or needing a coat and shoes!) I did nicely ask the nurse who came into the room to "sit" with us if I could have a pair of socks. When she came back in the room she almost threw the socks at me. I had to pivot and actually climb up in the taxi cab in minus 24 below zero in the socks and my sleeveless nightgown. When we got home the taxi driver refused to pull up in the driveway since it had been snowing almost all the day. He actually let us off at the end of our driveway and my poor "honey" had to get my wheelchair and drag me to the house and get me up the stairs. What a night I had!!! And to top this story off, I am one of the Sanford patients who is able to look in her chart at the hospital. On the night I went in to the ER, the doctor wrote that when he and the nurses came in the room my significant other was "digging in all the drawers looking for things and I was having drug seeking behavior"...This episode just sticks in my mind because I have worked for Sanford Health long before it was Sanford Health and I take pride of my work record here and the other places I was employed at. I was never treated like this before and it just gets me upset thinking about the words the doctor had put in his ER Notes. Not one thing about the excruciating pain I had and that all the lab work and X-rays and MRI weren't any different from before.

The five stars goes to the medical team that supported my son's delivery!…read more I would like to shout out: Dr. TT - delivered my son Shannon, Jade, Matt - anesthesiologist who did my epidural and medication for my C-section Director- Jenny RN - Nikki, Paige, Jess, Teri, Kayla, Katie, Kylie, Kallie, Megan - and all the over flows nurses that stepped in from other departments Dr. Wiedell - took care of my sons needs Dr. Michael Cady - all my appointments and checked on me after birth Ultrasound tech - Crystal I spent over 40 hours in labor and during that time in labor and delivery department every room was filled. Another local hospital OR had to close due to unforeseen circumstances and Crosby was able to take on those patients and help support them through their delivery. This created for a very busy time. I would've never known that this time could be a time full of laughter and joy. The day I came in Jenny and Nikki supported me the most and we're so fun to be around down to earth and very authentic. Every need and want of mine was fulfilled. I would've never known that they were completely filled as I felt like I got the full undivided attention and like I was the only one there. This team works so well with each other! I really enjoyed watching everyone work together as they work well together. The communication between everyone was very clear and you can tell they truly enjoy each other's company. You can also tell they truly love their job and they are very patient centered and have a genuine care for their patients. There was so many things I was nervous about as a first time single mother, but again the care I received helped reduce anxiety. Honestly, I did not want to leave because I was having so much fun and I really grew to enjoy the company of all the OB/GYN nurses.

Then , you know , it's obvious they only cared about the money and not the patient.
