This shop is good for the one off original goth/punk clothing like the tie dye stuff, etc. Obviously they are dearer than off the peg clothes like top shop, etc, but they are well worth buying as you are unlikely to see many others in them and the quality of the clothing is absolutely brilliant. They also sell accessories, bags, hair dyes (original henna and original pattchouli oil can be bought here), jewellery and bed covers. They have a huge selection of one off ornaments to buy too. They do a good range in cards and wrap paper too. The staff are due to change hands soon due to the current owner retiring, but, the current staff are very friendly and polite and treat you as if you are a very welcome customer. There is a changing room to try the clothes on and decide whether to buy.

The Body was founded by a lady called Anita Roddick and the first shop was opened in 1976. They now have more than 2,000 world wide. The body shop is popular with many people as not only do they sell great prouducts none of them are tested on animals. The body shop is well known and a very good adition to the Kirgate center in my own opion. I love to come through the center via the Darley street enterance just to take in all the lovely smells that waft out from the shop. The shop however is small but it is so well presented that you can easy find what you are looking for. The staff here are so helpfull and will even help you to find the perfect gift if you are sturggling. This shop is not ideal for people on budgets as most of there products are quite expensive. However they are very nice and last a long time. I use the body shop when I have enought money as there products do not irrate my skin and as I have said before they are not tested on Animals. I would highly recomend the White Musk range that they do.I know that when I am feeling down there is nothing like a White Musk bubble bath to perk me up. When I wear the White musk people always comment on the nice smell and it really boosts my confidence. I just wish I had more money to spend in here.

The prices are quite dear but it is well worth it to buy the stuff that are much different than you can get elsewhere. They seem more special too. The shop is crammed full of gifts and trinkets to suit every personality and they even have a vintage clothing boutique downstairs where the outfits are made to original 40's & 50's patterns. The shop is a big promoter of Agent Provocateur, Lolita Lempicka and Dr Hauschuka, and there's plenty of choice of products. The shop plays soft vintage music and creates a cosy, happy atmosphere to shop in. The decor is divine and the staff also dress up in 40's attire with full make-up and curled hair. I was amazed whilst walking around and loved the whole feel of the shop. I can't wait to take my mum shopping there next week!

The room is lined with glass cabinets and polished wood drawers, some tantalisingly opened to reveal neatly displayed goodies such as jewellery and cosmetics, including Burt's Bees and Dr. Hauschka. They also sell beautiful vintage-style sewing kits, a lovely gift and a rather kitsch way to inspire one to make-do-and-mend in a stylish and fun way! They sell books as well, all with a vintage theme and many with a photography or illustration focus, such as 50s pinups or burlesque. Downstairs is the boudoir selling lingerie and carefully selected vintage-style dresses, including some pretty cute 'ethically-made' dresses from Tara Starlet made in the UK and designed by none other than Tara form BBC's eye-opening documentary series 'Blood Sweat and T-shirts'. Yay!...And not extremely expensive at £65 for a dress. The lingerie section includes some rather pretty vintage-style underwear from Elle MacPherson. The products in this shop are not cheap but it is definitely worth a visit even just to browse and inhale the delicious smells. Or perfect for a special gift.

In my experience, they're all the same set up -- a little box shop with floor-to-ceiling choices of perfume and fragrance. The lads are well catered for, so it's not a women's only experience. The range is huge, from your popstar creations to your old school forever classics. I love the range -- they always carry my classics: Ghost (original), Elizabeth Arden Red Door, Yves St Laurent Parisienne, and Estée Lauder Pleasures. (And I guess now you know what I might smell like, which feels faintly personal now that I list them all.) I often find they have good deals on around Christmas and seasonally, sometimes challenging online purchasing. The staff are often where this place shines as they seem to know the whole gamut and range, which has to be a challenge given they smell fifty scents a day. It's a lovely little shop and I'm a real fan.

The staff we as happy as ever though, helping overwhelmed husbands and curious girlfriends to choose their products. The manager of the shop also held a 'queue buster' whilst I was in store. This entailed getting the attention of the whole shop, the queue literally snaked round the entirety of the place at this point, and got everyone to do a Mexican wave! Embarrassingly enough I think I was the only one, other than the staff, who joined in on this but in exchange everyone in the queue received a free bath bomb for free! Now that is lush! A vibrant place with vibrant staff and vibrant products. Fab!

Full to the brim with exciting looking, gorgeous smelling products for the bath and shower - Lush is one of my favourite places to shop. Lush seems to employ the kind of happy, bubbly outgoing people that could well be Santas little elves in all their jolliness! They're always so enthusiastic and more than happy to chat with you about the product background and let you try the goods out. They also do lovely gift sets ranging from £5 upwards and have plenty of choice, so it's easy to find something different. I always buy 'Honey I Washed The Kids' which is a gorgeous honey bath soap. It really does smell delicious! I've heard many mixed views on Lush, most of them positive. A few however, have described the small of the producs a little over-bearing. I'd pop by anyway and try a few bath ballistics out, you'll probably start to love it as much as I do...

The Beehive is an adorable little fair trade shop on Potternewton Lane. It is a somewhat petite…read moreshop and it sells a range of fair trade products. Products include kitchen cupboard bits and bobs such as coffee and tea, honey, jam, peanut butter, chutney, nuts, rice, pasta and chocolate. They also sell a variety of intricate hand-made greetings cards which are very pretty and unusual. Their range of gift items includes some very cute wooden toys, pottery, candles, stationery and jewellery. They also try to order in any product you'd like that they don't have in. They used to have a tiny café in the adjacent room, which sadly is no more...but if you have seen how tiny the room really is you can probably imagine why! The fact that all the products at The Beehive are fairly traded is a breath of fresh air when so many shops have murky supply chains and questionable ethics. But it is not the defining feature, because as well as having ethics the wares on sale would stand out in any gift shop or grocers for their careful design , high quality or scrumptious taste! When I popped in for a browse around the Beehive the two women running the shop were absolutely lovely - so welcoming and friendly! A shop with ethics, top notch products and perfect customer service - what more could you want?...It must be said though that their opening hours are a little sparse so you have to be sure to catch them at the right time!

A few wooden toys are for sale and fair-trade chocolate, tea, jam, honey, coffee. Some really nice pieces of jewelry are for sale also, which makes it a great place to pick up a present with your mind at ease that a minimum amount of exploitation has taken place for the sake of your purchase. The ladies in there were really sweet and friendly saying hello, thank you and goodbye numerous times. They even apologised for the state of the shop that day as they had just had a delivery of food goods. Its a bit out of the way but I will be purposely passing by to buy my fair-trade Easter eggs this year.
