I am terrified of flying. I cry, I hyperventilate, I heavily medicate. So my husband thought buying me a flying lesson for my birthday was a great idea. He figured, for the reasonable price of $170 for a 45-minute flight with him as a passenger, it would help me get over my fear. After three rescheduled due to weather, we finally made the 30 -minute drive to the airport in Wheeling. I met my instructor, Scott, who showed us around the office and then took us out to the plane. We performed the pre-flight safety check and Scott explained that I would be doing 98% of the flying, but he would always have his hands on the controls to assist. We got in the plane, and I attempted to taxi the plane to the runway, steering using pedals on the floor. Then we prepared for take-off. I pushed all the buttons and Scott explained that when he said to, I should pull back on the controls to lift off. As we started zooming down the runway, I realized I had no idea what I was doing. How hard do I pull back? Gradually or all at once? When do I stop? I wish I would have gotten a bit more detail on what the heck I was doing before attempting to actually fly! But we lifted off smoothly, until a big gust of wind came. We tilted sideways and I freaked. I dropped the controls and Scott had to quickly pull us back up. I immediately started to panic and wanted out. But Scott and my husband convinced me to try again. I put my hands on the controls to feel what was happening, but really it was Scott doing all the flying. We made a few turns, flew over the lake for a bit, and then turned back. As we came in for the landing, I took the controls and did fly the plane for a few minutes, but of course once we landed safely, I regretted that I didn't do more. I think a little more on-the-ground instruction would have been really helpful. I knew the basic idea, press on the left pedal and turn left to go left, but I didn't know why that worked and I didn't know the specifics of what to do - how hard to push, when to stop pushing, etc. I think knowing the details might have made me more comfortable and less nervous that if I messed up and pushed too hard or turned too tight, I'd send us crashing to the ground. But, I made it through. It was my first flight in two years without xanax and I didn't freak out . . .too much. I don't know that it conquered my fears entirely, but I do feel a little better about the big planes now that I've survived a small one. Overall I liked the flight school. The instructor was very nice and reassuring when I freaked out and he didn't pressure me to do anything I wasn't comfortable with. I just wish that there had been a little more explanation and instruction on the ground so I didn't feel so much like i was "flying blind" when I was up there. But the prices are reasonable, and I do plan on taking another lesson, and this time I hope to take the controls more and actually lift the plane off.

I bought a gift certificate (a 2 hour introductory flight) for my husband. He enjoyed it tremendously and wants to do it again.

This review is based on a single lesson only as I was visiting from out of town…read more On my journey to get my PPL, I was in Chicago for a work trip and reached out to Boraam Aviation and took a lesson with Marlon, their Chief Flight Instructor. He was thorough in looking through my log book to see what gaps I had in my knowledge toward my license and we decided on a plan to do some instrument practice (along with unusual attitudes). Marlon was very up front and methodical in our lesson. He was very comfortable to fly with and had some great suggestions on maintaining airspeed, heading, steady climbs and descents in IMC. He also gave me some fantastic training in unusual attitudes and gave me a suggestion to focus on the airspeed indicator more so than the attitude indicator in order to determine the best way to recover from unusual attitudes. This was very helpful and I'm glad we went through this in our training. After our lesson, I felt a lot more confident in different maneuvers for the check ride and flying in simulated instrument conditions. This flight school's rental rates are quite a bit lower than any of the surrounding competition (including the flying club at Chicago Executive) and I'm quite sure they have the best prices for aircraft rental. Huge plus. I would highly suggest it! My only gripe and the reason for the 4-star review is that I would have appreciated a little more time in debriefing after the lesson and Marlon really asking questions to re-enforce that I understood what I learned. I had a little confusion with navigating VOR-from ATC commands and although he spent a bit of time explaining it, I would have appreciated him asking more questions to test my knowledge and ensure that I understood everything. The end of the lesson felt a little rushed as I didn't know when his appointment with his next student was (and she was waiting for him while we were debriefing). Other than that, everything was perfect and I would wholeheartedly recommend Boraam Aviation to anyone seeking various flying ratings.

If I could give it minus infinity i would without any hesitation for endless reasons…read more It's only business to suck up money Very poor costumer service At the beginning They pull you with kind of cheaper tuition in the market Everything is up to you, no support you have to read and read and read and leave it to the best guess in the exam The teachers are jock, if you ask a question they just read from the book, word by word specially the one called Sheri, is a shame to be called a teacher and I heard that she is still there; she does everything to make you fail if she doesn't like you; Who said the teachers don't have control over the ATI is a big fat lie! In this school you feel like you're not in the US. If you ask me for my experience there; I would say: it was a nightmare combination of Covid pandemic, coupled deaths of loved ones in my family and I didn't get any support from them; only the same speech of nursing school is highly challenging; if I didn't want to take the challenge I wouldn't go there; they talk to you like talking to a teenager, very disrespectful Anyway that was my mistake to go to that place; because is just a scam, knowing that is uncredited Good luck to everyone trapped there and from my side I don't want to even remember the name or the time and my money that I just threw in the garbage.

I recommend this school because I passed my Nclex on first attempt The staff is helpful caring and encouraging They do their best to push us toward success The teachers are awesome they showed us that we can become nurses with hands on training at the clinical sites and more hands on training on lab days they taught us everything that needed to be known for success on exams ATIs and the Nclex The school is private so the cost is more compared to community college but its worth the price to get into the nursing field within 15months I went to the school because I got tired of waiting for community college nursing program Plus the school has a payment plan so its affordable I finished this school with no student loan debt
