I want to call this the best vegan Mexican food, but really, it's simply the best vegan food PERIOD!!! This is one of the rare spots that I can bring my non-vegan peers - it really is that good! Today, we tried the potato taquitos, signature al pastor + carnitas fries, and strawberry crumble cake :)

I'm obsessed! The service was outstanding, and the woman behind the counter answered all of my questions with so much patience and kindness. Ambience is quiet and neutral perfect for a quick bite by yourself or with someone. As someone who doesn't eat red meat, this place has quickly become one of my favorite spots for nachos. The food tastes authentic and packed with flavor. The portion sizes are great for the price, big enough to share with someone else. I'll definitely be coming back.

Holy, I think this was probably the best I've had from here! PARKING: there is street parking in front of the restaurant but it's a high traffic kinda area so we usually don't park there. I like to utilize the lot nearby since it's walking distance (3 minutes tops.) There is a wide selection of food here, from burgers to burritos to tacos -- they have a great selection! I saw they recently added some meatball soup and posole. I will definitely have to return to give that a try. I usually stick to the burgers with an impossible patty and can I just say they are exceptional! Well seasoned and delicious. I usually stick with my cali dreamin burger but that breakfast burger was absolutely delicious. It had a perfectly crisp hash brown :) Service was a bit more reserved today but I'm not complaining here. Absolutely love Cheyenne and the other worker with curly hair (I forgot her name but she has an autism badge of some sort.) They always make my day with their great service! We came at a good time. It was quiet and peaceful. The tables were cleaned and they recently added a self serve station!! Absolutely love that. By far, one of my favorite vegan places to frequent :) highly recommend this place.

Very disappointed with this experience. While the food initially tasted great, I was shocked to find a hair in my burger after eating more than half of it. Finding hair in food is completely unacceptable and immediately made me feel sick to my stomach. I had no choice but to throw the rest of the meal away. It's frustrating because I was enjoying the food, but this raised serious concerns about cleanliness and quality control. A situation like this should never happen, and it completely ruined my experience. I hope management takes food safety and kitchen hygiene more seriously moving forward.

I've been coming to this place for years and it is so delicious. I usually get nachos, unless I'm not starving and then I get a couple tacos. I bring my non-vegan/vegetarian friends here and they love it too. The food quality is high and the portions are big. They are a tiny bit pricey (I'm sure their rent is insane here), but it's worth it to support a small business. I've always gotten great service when I went in and the place always looks really clean. I would eat here weekly if I could.

Chicana is a downtown Fullerton eatery serving up vegan tacos, burritos, burgers, and more. Parking in DTF is always hit and miss, but you might get lucky and score a spot right out front on Commonwealth, or more likely in the parking lot right behind the restaurant. The inside is a little on the small side, but there are several tables, as well as two bar shaped tables facing the front window, which makes for good people watching. The walls are decorated nicely with a large colorful mural on one wall, and the other with greenery and Veganland spelled out in Hollywood sign letters. Both walls feature their superhero character. They also have a small patio with several tables behind the building. I stopped by to place and wait for a to-go order for my girlfriend. Jocelynn was at the register and was very friendly. When my order was ready, she brought it out to the table where I was sitting and waiting. I brought home an al pastor taco and two jackfruit carnitas tacos ($3.75 each), the kale salad ($7.95), and some extra salsa. I didn't taste any of the food myself, but she loved it all and said it was five stars all the way.

Met up with my friends here for a few reasons.... I'm Vegan, we needed somewhere where pets can hangout with us and it was pretty much between where we live. Please note "pet friendly" doesn't mean you can bring pets inside even just to order food....technically that is the law even though some places let you order and leave with food if you bring a pet.... They have a back small courtyard area to eat and you can bring your dogs out that way....I got a breakfast burrito and it was really good and I would highly recommend that as a choice to eat....my friends got tacos, ramen and another got the breakfast burrito as well.... Everything was really good and what I wanted....I'm glad I finally made it out to try this place....even if you aren't Vegan give it a chance!

As usual amazing. Everything I have ever ordered here has been really good. Non-vegan/vegetarians have also loved this spot. Service is good and the ambiance is a nice spot with friends, there are several tables, but its not a huge spot. Order at the screen or with the staff at the counter. They opened a coffee area too, but it was closed by 11:30am, before the food service begins at 12pm.

Sooooo good!!!!! This was my second time coming here. My husband's first time. I was so excited to come back! The food here is amazing! One of the best vegan food restaurants. I absolutely love the Calibaerito (cali burrito vegan style). It is so filling and delicious! It's loaded with lots of fries. Next time I will do extra cheese on the burrito. I also ordered the supreme fries. Those were huge with a ton of fries! I did asada for the fries and the Cali burrito. The supreme fries were top notch! So good!! You just have to eat it fast before the fries get soggy lol I also tried an Al pastor taco. It was okay. I don't think I like the Al pastor meat. I'd order a taco again, but do the asada meat for protein. My husband had the mushroom burger and animal style French fry. He loved both. The animal style French fry was a huge hit for him. He enjoyed the mushroom burger too. This was a win all around! Service was good. They are very friendly and kind people. I love this place! We will be back. :)

Omg omg omg, super duper fantastically delicious! My friend and I popped in for lunch because I remember hearing about the Crack tacos. We ended up ordering and sharing: 1. Pozole verde - I wanted a whole vat it's so yum. Didn't need the lime squeeze but it lifted it because it had so much in it. 2. Crack tacos - Oh man it's been a while but they taste like jack in the crack tacos I remember lol #nostalgia 3. Sopes w/carnitas and asada - I'm a sucker for a good sope. Hard to beat the crisp "container" and rich creamy and crunchy fillings. 4. Animaless fries - ok hello seasoned fries! Perfect replica creamy deliciousness. 5. Chilequiles - this is how I judge a spot and A1! I had a lil leftover which was amazing the next day, whoohoo It was a weekday lunch so there was some street spots on Commonwealth, plus plenty in the lot but I can see it getting busy. We ordered on the screen where you order yourself and sat in the back where they brought us the food. The tables and chairs in the back have decent spacing. Definitely will return if I'm in the area

Pretty good spot for an all-vegan Mexican eatery! I got the Mexigogi fries which had a lot of flavor and they didn't skimp on anything! The portion size was big enough to last me 2 meals. The fries were well balanced between crispy and fluffy. The vegan bulgogi was slightly sweet, as bulgogi should be! They perhaps could've given a little more of the vegan cheese and other sauce, but overall it was good! This past Sunday afternoon there was a very sweet woman who said it was her 2nd day on the job and she provided great customer service! Very happy and quick to help!

A friend had recommended this spot a few weeks ago and we recently went to check it out. The place was rather small inside, but they have a really cute patio in the back with plenty of extra seating. I've never had vegan Mexican food before but this place hit the spot, everything was SO good. Fast and very friendly service too. Can't wait to visit again next time I'm in the area.

Wow! What a restaurant. I'm not Vegan at all, but I walk by this place all the time and had to try it, especially after my wife had it last week and loved it. Right away, Matthew greeted us and explained the menu. I asked him to order his favorite item on the menu for me: A classic burger with a beyond patty cooked well done, substitute provolone, and added mushrooms. It was heavenly. I love asking enthusiastic restaurant staff to order me their favorite items on the menu, and he did not disappoint! I especially appreciated how he explained the various meat options to someone like me who's not in-the-know. The whole vibe of this place was great. The other patrons were friendly, and while the location is small it was still comfortable and nice to sit and eat. read more

Amazing Plant-Based food!!! My husband and I recently turned vegan and have been looking for food spots that are making our favorite flavors into vegan dishes. This place has great Latin flavors. I got the Classico burrito with al pastor "meat" and my husband got the bulgogi burger. Both had great flavor and we definitely didn't miss actual meat. The dishes were a good side; very abundant lol We ate so quickly that I forgot to take a picture of our food. 10/10 would recommend & come again even with our non-vegan family and friends. read more

I'm usually a little hesitant trying vegan alternatives but the food at Chicana Vegana is absolutely amazing and delicious! I loved their Cali-baerito and the classic burrito with Mexgogi, especially with the cashew cheese sauce. Their service was quick and efficient. The patio area in the back is also wonderful. Had the Cali Dreaming burger with the Impossible patty. Tons of flavor, with the bacon, guac and thousand island dressing you can't go wrong. Just make sure you have plenty of napkins! Pretty good!! First time here had the Cali-Baerito with Al Pastor and Carnitas mixed. Great tasting. I would totally recommend it. Doesn't taste anything like al pastor meat, but tastes great nonetheless! Tastes more like a Moroccan 'rito, definitely has that sort of paprika, spice mix, cardamom taste or something like that, surely because of the seasoned fries in the middle. Also recommend to share it, portion is quite large for $13. Green salsa was good, not great, run of the mill. Yes, those be French fries in the middle of that 'rito. read more

Chicana Vegana is literally my vegan taqueria dream come true and is totally a 10/10 in my book! When it comes to vegan food it's very common to come across restaurants that just slightly miss the mark, But not with this cute place! The food and service was just so welcoming and pleasant. My boyfriend and I shared the Loaded Nachos with Carnitas and Asada on top and three 4 tacos, one of each protein option. For their protein choices, my favorite has to be the Asada and the Al Pastor. I would say their prices are pretty average for being 100% vegan. We will defiantly be back for more! read more

Been a few weeks on a plant based diet and I've never had more energy. Just tried this place and unfortunately we tore into our food so fast that we didn't get a chance to take pictures. Amazing spot that makes quality vegan food. We love coming here to get the chili cheese fries because they are so BOMB! You do have to wait a bit for your food, but it is so worth the wait as it always hits the spot. This is one of my favorite spots to eat in Fullerton. Whether you're vegan or not, Chicana has a variety of great vegan dishes. I was helped by Lupe who recommended the asada fries when I could not choose what to order. The food was ready quickly and the eating area was well kept. So we finally got a chance to come here since our free time lined up with business hours and wow! This place has to be one of our new favorites for vegan Mexican food. All the different "meats" and flavors we tried were great! Best vegan asada we have had anywhere. We tried the al pastor, asada and mexigogi tacos and they were all great. We also got the signature fries which were great especially with the habanero looking sauce that came on the side with our food. The only bummer id say is that they said they no longer put jalapeños on the signature fries even though its in the picture when you order online. I hope they update that just so people know in advance. The best part of the meal however was the tres leches cake we got. Single best vegan tres leches we have ever had. We do wish it had a little more strawberry though as the bites with strawberry were the best. Also it did leak in the bag so id just be aware that it can happen but its not really their fault. Can't wait to try their other stuff! read more

Food is decent but overpriced service is strange? Mostly slow moving service which is fine. I am assuming I interacted with the owner- or someone related to the business considering how boldly rude she was--- I waited until two customers ordered then asked for my pickup (showing a notification from my phone) to which the cashier did not say anything, so i waited off to the side. She proceeded to take the next persons order. I saw bags come out so I asked her if I can take the one with my name and she said "you can take whatever you want as long as it's right". Very rude for no reason at all. If you don't want to work with the public don't get behind the register- friendlier service for the price point would be the smarter move to make. I am not a college student i am a grown woman picking up lunch during my lunch hour show some consideration and respect. Not coming back here again- and informing my coworkers of the experience. read more

This is the best vegan Mexican food around! What they do best is the deep flavors on their mock meats. I haven't had meat in 12 years and when I crave the consistency it's often disappointing because the flavor is never quite right. I also always find with mock meats that it doesn't get hot enough idk why. But when I had Chicana Vegana for the first time (al pastor El Classico burrito) I wanted to turn around and immediately go get another. It was SO flavorful, hot and delicious! I went back the following day and tried all the tacos and they were all equally impressive particularly the Mexgogi. I crave that flavor combination so much now! Their salsas are spicy and authentic and the perfect touch to the already delicious food. I highly recommend and I only leave 5-star reviews when I am blown away--and I was! read more

I was skeptical about this place at first but I'm so happy I came here. Let's start with the building and decor it's super cute and colorful very instragmy lol. Ordering was fast and simple and the lady helping us was patient. The Asada and Gogi tacos were tasty but if you get anything make sure to try the chips and salsa they give a large container of salsa which is wonderful since you'll want more. The strawberry lemonade and their kombucha is also very yummy. This place was a 10/10 definitely give it a try :) read more

So I tried this place on a recommendation from a friend, who owns a Chronic Taco franchise, and I'm so glad I did. I had the wet burrito with Al pastor and so tasty. FOOD: 5+ stars! Cali Dreamin hamburger seems inspired by In N Out (grilled onions, secret sauce) but goes beyond with a TON of onions, maple bacon, and a thick crispy bun. Delicious and messy. Asada tacos were delicious. The corn tortillas were bomb, tasted handmade. My impression is that a lot of thought and care goes into every ingredient and the preparation. ORDERING: Ordered on their website. Very easy to make special requests. You can choose what time to pick up. PICK UP: food took longer than expected and there was no notification, so that was a bummer. COVID SAFETY: pick up was inside. I read on other reviews that they brought the order to your car which I would have preferred. All in all, I'm so happy that Chicana Vegana set up shop in DF! Took me a year to finally try them at VegFest and now I can get it anytime... which will be ALL the time! Cant wait to try the rest of the menu! read more

Tried this place for the first time, and my wife and I absolutely loved it. We got the carnitas nachos, Wild West burger with chili fries, and the classic burger. For those in-in-out fans, the classic burger is the way to go. Everything was so delicious, I highly recommend this to anyone. No small portions here. Great price for what you get. Meet the Business Owner: Jasmine H.

Chicana Vegana was founded on compassion and love for quality food. As a Mexican-American I loved all food inspired by growing up around the California coast. What I never knew was that I can still enjoy all of these great dishes without the cruelty and with all the taste. I went vegan and created Chicana Vegana to share the amazing food I could recreate. Now my entire familia is vegan! Its been an amazing journey changing our lives and inspiring others to do the same! We found in our personal lives, the ability to embrace a cruelty-free diet while also consuming amazingly delicious food. Chicana Vegana in downtown Fullerton, CA, always manages to hit the mark for me. I've worked my way through nearly every item on their menu, and they've all been incredibly satisfying. However, this review is dedicated to the chilaquiles burrito. When the burrito arrives at your table, it looks like your typical burrito, wrapped snugly in paper. But the moment you take that first bite, you're greeted with an explosion of salsa flavors and the delightful crunch of the chips. It's not often that you find chips in a burrito that are perfectly crisp, and I must say Chicana gets it just right. During this visit, I also had a few bites of the Cali burrito, and as expected, it was utterly delicious. The fake meat was surprisingly tasty, adding to the overall satisfaction of the meal. We opted to dine on the back patio, which requires a quick wrap around the block to access. It's a charming little spot with a few picnic tables and ample shade for a comfortable dining experience. Excited to try this place after seeing high praise reviews. I ordered the shroom melt. I asked for it to be cut since my BF and I are sharing. I was given a plastic knife. The cashier said 'no,' but gave me a plastic knife. I let her know that that won't work and I asked her if she could ask the kitchen to cut it for me. She asked the kitchen. The chef came out and said 'no because it is on a bun.' I really don't understand, but I didn't want to press the matter further. My BF lives close by, so we ended up taking it to-go and cutting it at his place. The whole thing seems absurd to me. The food was tasty, but it was a burger and not a sandwich melt. Given that, I have had good vegan burgers at any burger gastropub. I really wanted to like this place, but was put off by the poor customer service and not a true melt sandwich. read more

Finally got around to trying their breakfast burrito and upgraded to their egg a la Mexicana. Oh my did I make the right choice, I devoured that burrito in no time. Make sure you check their website as it sells out. Every time I come here I find myself dancing while eating. Not sure if it's because of their awesome music and vibe or just how delicious their food is. The cashiers and service is also always on par. Some cashiers are more friendly than others but they have always been great. This is by far our favorite restaurant. We've tried everything out there and this is hands down the best. read more

One of the best spots around ! Westerns are our favorite burgers but all of their food is delicious you seriously can't go wrong. If I don't get the western we get the nachos or al pastor tacos ! They put two onion rings which in my opinion doesn't need two because the western is so big already . I guess that's a good problem to have I guess.. anyways I can always count on Chicana to make some good vegan food ! read more

Nothing but Five Stars .. the service, the cleanliness, the food !!! This is my Friday Night treat after a stressful week. Chili Fries BOMB, I've tried the majority of the burgers and never had a miss. The brioche buns is the cherry on top. I love supporting small businesses especially woman owned. This vegan spot is truly exceptional! I devoured everything on the menu. The carne asada and mexgogi tacos were perfection, and I can't believe I waited so long to try the mexgogi--it was incredibly mouthwatering. The Philly melt was also delicious. I was a chubby bunny! My daughter told me how much she enjoyed the food so, my husband and I had to try for ourselves. It did not disappoint!! Chili cheese fries were delicious as well as the Cali Dreamin and Sopes Duo.
