I've been in the area for a few years and always saw this place in the little strip mall along Valley View and Josey. Decided to try it out after one of my barbers mentioned it. They do follow social distancing guidelines so the line was actually outside with only 4-5 customers allowed inside. Everyone adhered to this. I got the chicken and also tried the wings. The chicken was solid. It reminds me of the Chinese buffets I'd go to as a kid. The wing wasn't my favorite. I'd stick to the tenders or whatever they called it. It does come with rice so that covered my fix for carbs. They do have a few sauces. I just went with the hot sauce. I probably should have tried one of each. Relatively cheap and it's good food. It's a good thing we live in North Carrollton, and so don't come down there very often, because if we did, I would probably keel over! The chicken wings and tenders are really good, and the egg rolls are outstanding. The rice is meh ... The one knock on this place is the fault (likely) of the city of Farmers Branch. For several years, they tried unsuccessfully to wage war on the Latino residents, only to lose again and again in the courts. As such, gringos don't seem to be completely welcome. At least it doesn't feel that way. Nonetheless, we will continue to go back again and again until the grease drips off the ends of our elbows, or we keel over first. There is a sign on the window saying that the restaurant's most recent food grade is available to view only upon request. That should tell you everything you need to know about CnR. In the interest of trying out a new place to do a Yelp review on, I ignored the sign and walked in. I was greeted by a group of happy young ladies eager to take my order. They have a daily special or you can order of their menu. You have a choice of chicken, chicken, or chicken and rice. Looking back into the kitchen, I saw trays upon trays of..you guessed it chicken. I chose the chicken tenders over the wings. Pricing is super cheap and the portions are huge. The chicken tenders are big, battered and fried crisp. The outsides looked ok but some of the chicken didn't taste as fresh. You definitely need to eat these dunked in some sauce, they don't have much flavor and can be dry. I tried duck sauce, spicy sauce and sweet and spicy sauces with the packets of duck sauce coming out ahead. My meal came with 2 scoops of rice and an eggroll. I skipped the eggroll, it looked overdone and the rice was also flavorless. I finished about half of my combo and was going to put it away but my stomach began to grumble. Took me the rest of the day to feel normal after this meal. So if you are willing to take the risk for some cheap prices and have an iron clad stomach, this is the place for you. read more

Good friend told me about this place and I have never been a big Chicken and Rice fan. That said this place is VERY tasty and good sized portions. Rice is spicy and too hot for my wife but I like it. French Fries are GREAT but $1 extra. Chicken was extremely moist and perfectly fried. I suggwest get a 6 or 8 piece meal and most people, especially females; should get 2 meals off of it. I have been to their Northwest Highway location a few times and always had a good experience. Tonight I went to this location in Farmers Branch as it is closer to home. I was really craving some stir-fry noodles, so I got their Noodle Bowl. I got home and while it was hot and fresh, there was no sauce in it or anything. It tasted very plain, no seasoning or anything. Soy sauce didn't even help it. So, I went back up to the store and asked for some teriyaki sauce because they have a chicken teriyaki bowl, so I figured they would have teriyaki sauce. The girl at the register said they don't have teriyaki sauce. So then I asked what comes in the chicken teriyaki bowl because the website says it has teriyaki sauce in it, and she says she isn't sure because she hasn't had it before. That's no excuse... If it's on the menu and you're at the cash register, then you need to know. Another girl chimed in and said the chicken teriyaki bowl is also pretty dry and she puts a powder on it. So then I asked for some of the sauces that come with the chicken fingers and then they charged me for them, only ten cents a cup but still it's the principle of it. I'd also ordered a chicken finger with my meal and wasn't offered any sauce. Stick to the chicken fingers and rice and you'll be fine. If you want a HUGE pile of super fresh crispy chicken tenders with myriad sauces (cost extra!), this is the place to go. I think you can get like twenty tenders for ten bucks or something ridic. Also, they have fried rice (whatever) and other things on the menu. I don't know what those other things are but I have seen them in my periphery while deciding how many dozen tenders I need at that moment. The tenders remind me of the ones at Chili's- lots of breading, hot white meat. (The name of a movie I saw your mom in, coincidentally.) Great prices, extraordinarily greasy chicken. its a no frills experience that would normally thrive in, but the bottom line is the chicken was way too greasy. I dont know how they super saturate the chicken batter where it remains in place, yet weighs down 50% to 75% of the enitre chicken wing or tender. The flavor is only enhanced with the sauces, hot and normal. in dipping the chicken in the sauces, i notice that the embedded oil slick created a natural adversion to the sauces as the greasy has taken over every pocket of space in the batter In order to get enough sauce on teh piece of chicken, one would need to bite a part of the batter off and then pour the sauce over the affected area like trying ot plaster a piece of ice. Well for starters...its not a Chinese place (although it shows on the search as Chinese/Asian fusion).As their name suggests, chicken and rice is their signature dish (Although they do serve noodles too...just because). The food is okay. Its not a fantastic gourmet meal, but its cheap and sumptuous. Its probably good for maybe a quick lunch or take out. The chicken is battered and the fried rice is probably the blandest I've had. If you order wings they are heavily battered and not friendly to eat. The egg rolls were a struggle as well. If I were to come back it would be for the chicken strips alone, they were good but not with the sauces from here... Just with the sauces from my fridge. I used to like it occasionally every few months for dirt cheap greasy food where the "tasteless" taste grows on you. I had eaten at this location since being a kid. The last time I ate here about 4 years ago it gave both me and my wife the worst case of food poisoning we have ever had in our lives. This was the only place we had eaten that day, and sure enough a few hours later right after midnight, sick as dogs. Luckily we had two bathrooms, we were helpless and almost thought we should go to the hospital, and I've had bad food poisoning from places I wouldn't expect like a nice seafood restaurant in the San Francisco wharf from swordfish. Chicken fingers were greasy and lacked any real flavor besides batter and grease. Fried rice was bland as well. Egg roll tasted like what you would get at any other chinese restaurant. I am a huge fan of CNR since it opened in Richardson Tx. I went to that location quite often and they never fail me. They have the best customer service and food is always fresh. HOWEVER, the Farmer's Branch location needs a HUGE REFACE on employees and a little remodel wouldn't hurt either. The employees are not only rude and unprofessional but they wear no hair nets no gloves and they wear flip flops. I have been here several times and have witnessed so many things that it just makes me want to tell them about themselves. I lady came in to apply for the open position they advertised on the door and she just happen to be dressed like a tomboy. They ladies at the front told her they are no longer hiring and then talked about her in a bad way in Spanish once she left to the cooks and other employees. They make the chicken in advance and have 3-4 pans sitting under the heat lamps causing it to be dry and over cooked. This fish is not catfish it's Swai and they over cook it too. My coworker purchased a drink there as well and it had a bug in it and when she gave it back to the blonde Hispanic lady at the front the lady argued with her telling her there was no bug in it. There needs to be better staff in order for this store to succeed. read more
