Deluxe Chop Chop

I've been to this restaurant before, it has very simple, but delicious lunch/dinner items. I ordered the Deluxe Chop Chop meal--Grilled Chicken Breast with lettuce and tomatoes served over yellow rice. Again, simple but delicious. They have fountain and bottled drinks available with your meal and they also have a variety of sauces you can top your food with, I went with Spicy Cilantro Ranch. It was DELICIOUS!! The staff were really nice and hospitable and there is plenty of seating inside. If you're looking for a healthier lunch option, good portion sizes all for a good price, this place is it!

FOOD? 8/10 - portions & food quality is both great! SERVICE? 8/10 - super quick & helpful! AMBIANCE? 5/10 - not meant to be a place of ambiance - instead, a quick eatery. Man, this place is UNDERRATED! Absolutely fantastic bowls that are equivalent (or better) to that of Chipotle.

Came to chicken kitchen while in rice village after seeing it boast "healthy" on the sign. This wasn't first time and I was promptly greeted. It appears they have chicken lol, served in the form of dinners, salads and their most popular bowls. I ordered the Mexican Chop-Chop which has Freshly grilled chopped breast with lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, sour cream, & cheddar cheese over yellow rice. It was very good and the portion size was very large. The price point is also very reasonable. I enjoyed the flavors and will certainly be back to try other items

My friend put me onto Chicken Kitchen a few months ago and I've been coming here a few times each month. From a student's perspective, there's really not a better option if you want a good cheap meal that's gonna fill you up and not make you feel gross after like fast food. The folks that work here are super kind and they also make everything super fast. I've waited 4x longer in the Whataburger drive thru for a cold burger. The best items to get in my opinion are the Cuban or the Oriental Chop Chop. The Chop Chop is like their version of a rice bowl and it's an incredible amount of food for the price. Chicken is never dry and rice always cooked perfectly. They have a spicy cilantro sauce which honestly could go great on anything. The mashed potatoes are also homemade and taste delicious. They have a discount for Rice students which is always nice to see. Can't wait to go back!

Large Teriyaki Chop Chop ($8) - yellow rice, chicken, and pita bread. Super savory, a bit on the salty side, and really filling

Despite the not so flattering pics on yelp, Chicken Kitchen dishes out some yummy and satisfying fare. When they say "Chop Chop," think tender, succulent bite-sized chicken pieces layered over your choice of rice or salad bowl. The rice comes in white, yellow (almost a bit too salty but savory and delicious), and brown (for an up-charge). They come in varieties like Teriyaki, Cuban, and their original, and are accompanied by 2 of their signature sauces (or 3 if you order a large). The salad bowls are chopped up romaine, and if you drizzle on the sauce, cover the bowl with the lid, and shake, you have a stellar mixed salad :) We had these delivered overnight while on call at the hospital, and the large comes in a generous portion that's perfect for snacking on in the wee hours of the morning when the munchies hit. For the price around $7for regular and $8 for large sizes, Chicken Kitchen is a great bang for your buck! Although not the first place I'll pick if I'm making a point to eat out, I'll be back for something if I'm searching for something quick and satisfying!

I ordered on grub hub. I've never eaten here before today. I ordered the 1/2 of a chicken plate with two sides. I got mashed potatoes, and plantain. The food had great flavor except for the styrofoam taste that went into the mashed potatoes and pita bread. Next time I'll get the salad instead of the mashed potatoes. When getting it delivered. Will be returning when I'm craving chicken again!

Was driving around rice village one night and needed to make a quick decision for a casual to-go dinner. Ended up at Chicken Kitchen and decided to grab something here since it's been a minute since I've been here last. The restaurant is a Chipotle/cafeteria style chicken place. You pick a prefixed menu item or order as you go down the line. The bf opted for the large Mexican style chicken over rice and I opted for the Cubano! You can also get it as a wrap or salad! First the type of rice - white, brown, yellow and then they top it with grilled chicken! Funny cause they actually chop it up and then measure it out so you get an actual cup of chicken. The bf ordered first and they literally measured the cup and did put out the last few pieces of chicken in from what they already chopped. He was so disappointed. They then chopped up the chicken for my bowl and measured it out and decided to give me the rest that was leftover. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, a pita and your choice of sauce. The spicy cilantro sauce definitely made the dish. The chicken was juicy and it was a good, healthy, filling dinner. I enjoyed it - especially for the price and it being a quick fast food option. Bf said he prefers Chipotle and thought it was just ok - I agree only because it wasn't anything fancy or special.. you get grilled chicken, rice, lettuce and tomatoes and lots of it. Without the sauce, it would've been pretty bland on its own.

Chicken kitchen is consistently yummy and worth the price. We ordered several times this week because they are now on DoorDash and they have many healthy options. If you haven't tried chicken kitchen and you think chipotle is the best that it gets when it comes to a salad bowl, think again. My only wish is that they had hummus for the pita bread. There are so many chop chop bowls to try and other menu items and the chicken breast is always flavorful and moist.

"Texas toast" isn't as good as Canes, but for $10, I really enjoyed the meal, especially that you can choose to get the spicy seasoning on the chicken tenders. Wasn't really spicy, but had a nice flavor. Wasn't a fan of the parking situation though. Was a very small parking lot, and it was cramped entering and leaving. The service was INSANELY fast though. We ordered and by the time we walked to our table, the food was ready, and it was nice and HOT. Ambiance was chill. Not a bunch of seating as it's a smaller place, but overall good.

Thumbs Down: I only asked for the chicken wrap, and I am certain the employee heard that, so I was surprised when I also received crinkle fries. Thumbs Up: The fries were good. CAUTION: After reviewing the experience, it appears I may have been charged for a meal but was not given the drink. I remember seeing a drink listed on the receipt, so I am not sure whether this was an honest mistake, or an unnecessary upsell, or the worker padding the sale. Either way, I have an overall impression of dishonesty, and I will not be returning.

Historically significant. Excellent food as you can see from the reviews…read more So I'll just post photos. My default ? Lemon cod, tabouli, coconut pie. The fried chicken is not good enough to recommend. As you will see, George M., the manager did respond to my comment. And I thank him for his response. (Though I was amused by how he phrased his response). Keep in mind. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Cleburne. I grew up in a Houston with Picadilly, Weldon's, Brittain's, Luby's, Wyatt's and more. Cafeterias in the 50's and 60's were an important way for families to dine out economically, and go to for the Sunday after church dinner. I visit Cleburne as often as possible, and my wife and I still reminisce about the matriarch at the register who could calculate everyone's bill in her head as they showed up to pay. Such wonderful memories. But as a person who has done fried chicken for decades, creating The Fried Chicken Blog (www.thefriedchickenblog.com) to document the fried chicken picnics in the German Czech communities of central Texas, and having fun with many different fried chicken recipes, I read his response about his chicken being one of the "best in the country," with amusement; so I will leave it up to you. Look at the photo of the dry, fried chicken on JUne 15, 2026, and then compare it to the photo I have just added for what I think fried chicken would look like at the best places (One example would be Barbecue Inn on Crosstimbers). There are some tricks to fried chicken. That is, once you decide on which traditional method you choose to go with. Example of one such: The batter of course, where you add a little moisture into the flour before the dipping and frying so that pieces of the wetted flour clump and will be picked up. Getting back to the Cleburne recipe. My guess is that this is one of the classic Southern, dredge in flour and pan fry, but not a buttermilk soak, dip, dredge, redip, dredge, fry method. This one is more akin to the classic skillet fry method and a simpler flour coating (I'm guessing). Which can be really good. But for me, I'd say, pass on the fried chicken and go for one of their other entrees.

The carne asasda and the pork chop were especially good. My kids loved the mac and cheese and the ambience was really nice. But when we arrive at the restaurant's parking lot, we realize our rental car window was smashed in and items stolen from the car. Two other patrons were victims as well. This happened in broad daylight. While it's not the end of the world, it ruined the rest of my evening plans with my family on our short trip in town. My real issue is that apparently this is a thing that happens in the area. I would have appreciated a heads-up! I'm born and raised in New York City and this type of thing doesn't even happen by me. If this is so prevalent, why is there no security guard in the parking lot? One of the staff members took a report and checked the security cameras, which showed the perpetrators smash in my window just a couple of minutes after I walked into the restaurant, so apparently they were targeting this lot. The staff member was nice enough, but basically told me this happens in the area. I would come back to the restaurant by cab, but I wouldn't drive my own vehicle there again. You've been warned.

Now I've been to their sibling restaurant across the way Goode company seafood and it is rated GAF (good as f***) so to say the least. I had expectations. Service was kind of slow for them to not be busy. We started with as appetizer which was the guac. They do guac different but it tasted good. Now my food was mid o'clock. I ordered fried okra, a fish taco and fries. Fries are a miss, I don't like the breading, fish taco was good and the okra was absent of seasoning. The chocolate cake taste as though it came off the sodeco truck was defrosted and covered with candied pecans. I can skip dessert next time. I guess a positive was they atleast serviced it with blue bell vanilla ice cream. Now less than great food but I'd definitely come back for the venue and or the bar.
