So driving by, I smelled the fried chicken wafting through the air and immediately pulled into the BP gas station that shares the parking lot with the restaurant and a convenience store. Don't let the look of the restaurant dissuade you. It would be a sorely missed experience! This is a very small place with no seating inside, but there are 5 covered bench and table seating and one long wooden seating in front and quite a bit of parking. Though there were numerous patrons and an ongoing almost non-stop flow of patrons, the line goes very quickly. It is absolutely worth waiting for!!! When you enter the establishment, you will see an electronic counter with a number on your left before you open the door. Inside is a small counter on the left and a soda dispensing machine on the right. In front of you is the opening window to the small kitchen where you can see fried chicken sizzling in a small vat. This food is so freshly cooked to order! I ordered a Combo 2 meal deal for $16.99 with a large Sweet Tea for $3.50. The combo meal was comprised of 2 types of meats of my choice and 2 sides of my choice. It also had a small bun included which I wasn't aware of. I ordered pulled pork and 2 pieces dark meat chicken pieces with a side of collard greens and a side of dirty rice. Once I paid, I was provided a receipt tag with a number. I was then advised that I need to wait outside for when my number was called. It was so packed with a line of respectful patrons of varying walks of life. I waited outside and about 15 minutes later, my number was called. I was handed a plastic bag with a to-go container, 2 packets of Texas Pete hot sauce, a sealed plastic packet with a fork and spoon, salt, pepper and a napkin, and one container of homemade sauce that was a mustardy brown hue in color. I had no idea what I was about the experience with that sauce. It was a heavenly honey mustard sauce and so scrumptious that I dipped everything in it whether it was intended to be or not. I couldn't get enough of it!!! When I opened my container, I found a fried chicken leg, a fried chicken thigh, a small heap of collard greens, a small heap of dirty rice, a portion of pulled pork (more akin to diced pork cubes) and a small bread bun. To keep the fried chicken crispy, it was on top of a parchment paper as well in the container. So assessments: 1) BREAD BUN * This was a store bought type of bun (size of what you would expect for a Krystal's burger but more fluffy.) 2) COLLARD GREENS (RECOMMENDED) * These were so tasty. It had the right amount of salt and bacon fat flavor. The texture of the collard greens were tender but not pulverized as some places have it when they are over cooked. I stumbled on a few bacon pieces which was delicious. 3) DIRTY RICE (NOT RECOMMENDED) * This was the only part that was a bit disappointing. It had so much textures and ingredients in it but was surprisingly rather bland. I would recommend passing on this side. 4) PULLED PORK (RECOMMENDED) * This was oddly not what I envisioned for pulled pork, but the flavor made up so much for how different it was prepared. It had a very high fat content level so be forewarned. However with that fat came the flavor!! These cubed pieces were so tender and moist. The flavor was just amazing. I often find pulled pork can be salted too much. That was definitely not the case here! 5) DARK MEAT FRIED CHICKEN (RECOMMENDED) * This was just scrumptious. The dark meat leg and thigh were delicately breaded and seasoned with a nice crisp. I didn't feel that the skin was soaked in oil so it was quite fresh. The moisture in the meat was outstanding. It was the moistest chicken I have had in some time. 6) SWEET TEA (RECOMMENDED) * This was served in a gigantic styrofoam cup. It was true perfect example of sweet tea. Such a nice balance of sweetness. I highly recommend asking for light ice though. Otherwise you will be pining for more. Note: no free refills and a $.75 up charge for no ice. .........AND NOW THE PIÈCE DE RÉSISTANCE!!! 7) HONEY MUSTARD SAUCE (RECOMMENDED) * Although this was included, definitely check that you got a small tub of it before you leave. You don't want to miss this finger-licking savory sauce. It has such depth to its flavor. I wanted to drink it!! It was that good!!! So besides avoiding the dirty rice, I would highly recommend this restaurant. I can't wait to try more items on their menu. Oh, also credit card payments are accepted as well. While you wait, you could fill up your vehicle gas tank, purchase small items from the convenience store, and even purchase fireworks! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! read more

Not much flavor in the chicken or the mashed potatoes. However, the hush puppies were delicious. Seriously melt in your mouth. You hardly have to chew.
