I had one of the most unprofessional experiences of my life at this school -- specifically due to…read moreNancy Lopez. I scheduled an appointment to get my hair braided. I arranged childcare and missed work for this appointment. When I arrived, the front desk staff (not the person who booked me) realized there had been no communication about needing to wash and blow-dry my hair before braiding. I explained that Nancy had never informed me of this, and thankfully the front desk kindly honored the original quoted price. After my hair was washed and blow-dried by Christina, we were about to start braiding when Nancy stormed in and abruptly demanded that the service stop until I paid extra for the wash and blow dry. She was loud, rude, and dismissive -- even putting her hand in my face when I tried to explain the miscommunication. She told me not to speak because she was "talking to her student, not me." She then touched my hair and began making discriminatory comments about its length and thickness, saying that it would "cost more" but refusing to give me an exact price. Instead of resolving the issue, she escalated it, argued, and ultimately instructed the student to stop the service entirely. When I asked for her supervisor, she claimed she was the boss and the supervisor, blocking any accountability -- until I insisted and was finally able to speak to the actual administrator, who was kind and understanding. This unnecessary conflict wasted 25 minutes of my appointment, leaving the students pressed for time and forcing my service to be cut down to 2 braids instead of the 4 I had booked. I want to be clear: the students and instructors were professional, kind, and compassionate throughout this. The only problem was Nancy Lopez. Her behavior was unprofessional, hostile, and completely unacceptable in an educational or customer-facing environment. I will be reporting her to the board for her conduct. If you book services here, please know the students are talented and respectful, but the administration -- at least under Nancy Lopez -- is another story.

I went to and participated at this school from its leadership to its band and a couple other odd roles here and there. Every staff member here truly and honestly wants to see the students reach colleges and try their hardest to accommodate to the generation and ideologies of everyone. I know that there's very mixed opinions about this school too. But I believe alot of it stems from the oppression of the community around it itself and not the oppression of students within the school. Most of the time when a student wanted to step up and make changes for the better of the school all staff is onboard and even encourages students to strive in their choice. And most of the time that small niche club of students who want better actually grows. Progression is taking place within this school and I feel greatly about the leaps and bounds students are going through to not just better their own lives but better the lives of future generations of students. Its a marvel to look at, I truly do believe that if this movement of spirit continues. Anybody who's considering this school should come drop by.

Theres 1 good thing about this school and that's the Marching Band..or atleast it was the best thing here .. they have won lots of Band Competitions because the teacher is or was a Amazing Tough teacher.. The Academic Decathlon was great and they always had a hard team...now, the rest The school is as ghetto as it gets..not South central ghetto but L.A. ghetto. The tagging in that school is Ridiculous..tagging Everywhere. I remember being there 1 summer and they were doing a parent tour of the school.. everywhere they went tagging..they even took them to the bathroom and the Tagging there looked like a Tagging Paradise where everything was tagged up. I remember asking if they were going to clean that graffiti that I had seen for a week already..I had a week there..and their response was if we clean it up..itll be tagged the next day..I thought wow.. I witnessed fights every week..in thr back of the school in the alley.. ditching was ridiculous..you see kids hanging out all over school and nothing was done ..jumping the fences .. older staff going out with students ..the smell of weed everywhere..I mean Wow! I was only there 1 summer and even though everyone was used to the way things were and were cool about it..you settle and do what you gotta do.. Finished the Phlebotomy program. Staff were very helpful. Lydia and Ava were able to get me into…read moreclinicals one week after I completed the NHA exam. I was able to do Monday thru Friday for clinicals and they were very helpful and I had a great experience. I am also signing up for the EKG program to make myself more competitive. The phlebotomy instructor, Mr.K is a no nonsense instructor, he is there to make sure you are prepared and ready to take the NHA exam. He is very knowledgeable and patient. He is a great instructor but be ready to work hard, practice and learn. He is willing to allow students who have passed the exam to come and practice which is always a plus to gain more experience.
