This place is garbage. How is it that I walk in at 4 pm and am immediately told that there isn't enough time to cut my hair with 4 barbers and 2 open chairs. You close at 530. Didn't even ask what I wanted, just straight told to get out basically. Upon my exit, a guy walks in, high fives one of the open barbers, sits down and has clippers to his head within seconds. I guess if you're not one of the guys then you're not worth their time. Hardly ever get acknowledged and constantly see people walk in an hour plus after you get to sit down and get cut. A very holier than thou, uppity club that a select few get to belong to obviously. Update: just tried my hand at playing this game again today. It's 3:30 in the afternoon, they close at five. Four barbers, 4 customers and as soon as I walked in the door, they told me they didn't have any time and to come back tomorrow. So you're telling me that the doors just lock at five and if you're still in the building at five that you have to spend the night there? Also, your barbers are incapable of cutting more than 1 person hair per hour? God forbid you stay 10 minutes past the time you're supposed to get off. So you have slow employees who only care about getting out of work and are rejecting business. If I was the owner of this business, I would really want to know which one of my employees is rejecting customers on a regular basis. Per my review and a few others, this is a trend, not an occurrence. Also, it's Friday and payday for most people. Don't you think that a few people might want to get a trim right before the holidays? (xmas in a few). So you're going to have a half empty barbershop that can't handle more than 2 to 3 people at a time? Total bush league. read more

Barber's are talented, friendly & efficient. My boys 18 & 15 are picky and now Chico Barber is "their" place! Reg cut $18, speciality $25 & beard /mustache $10. They trimmed my older son's beard and weren't even going to charge him but I paid it anyway & tipped him for the extra service as well. read more

Jorge welcomed my boyfriend and I on our first time in today. He also wound up being the one to cut my guys hair. He was very informative and friendly, but the best part of our visit was how amazing he made my boyfriend look! He gave him a dapper hair style and trimmed his beard up nicely, giving it a clean definition. He smelled amazing and looked clean and handsome! No big deal; I anticipate waiting a bit without having an appointment. 1.5 hours later, with no further acknowledgement from the staff (not even a "Hey, sorry about the long wait" or "can I offer you something to drink while you wait", and at least 9 other customers served, I walked out. Walked in for a line up to look good for the weekend. The barber said how many cuts, and I said 2 cut please ( for me and my bro). The barber said "ok" and we took a seat to wait. Another gentleman walked in after us and went up to a sign in sheet, signed his name and sat down. My bro and I looked at each other and went to sign in. We would have signed in if we knew we had to. We were first time customers so we didn't know there was even an sign in sheet. We waited for 35 mins before a chair came open. Mind I tell you all the barbers that were there kept yapping away with their clients, and not in any hurry to get a service done. I understand barbers have clients and make a friendship out of it, but when there are 4 men that have been waiting for 30 + minutes then it's a frustrating. The barber that greated us was the one who's chair came open first. The barber goes to the list and calls the next name, a man that came in after us. Again my bro and I look at each other like "are you serious". After waiting another 15 minutes and the other barbers still yapping away with their clients who's hair is already cut and styled, we walk up and leave. The barbers need to pay closer attention to your line of waiting customers, otherwise you're not gonna have any business. read more

They trim my eyebrows and ears and then the added treatment of shaving cream on your neck with a true straight edge shave and dab of aftershave are nice added touches that you don't get at other places. I walked in this afternoon for a haircut for my 10 year old son. I called for an appointment but they don't make same day appointments (just FYI). However was encouraged to walk in because the wait was short, so we did. Friendly greeting when we walked in (even though I had 3 small children in tow - this matters to me as I have felt unwelcome at hip barbershops in the past & not gone back to those). The wait was short - comfy seats & good (but not inappropriate for kids) music. George cut my son's hair based off a picture from Pinterest and was great - very personable & friendly. My son loved his cut and I was very happy too. I plan on going back again for my boys' cuts and will definitely request George (might even manage to plan ahead and make an appointment haha). read more

Looks great but terrible service. We made an appointment for our little guy to have his hair cut and have literally sat in there for 40 minutes before walking out. No interaction from any staff other than asking us if we have an appointment. No eye contact. No mention that we'd have a wait ahead of us. Not even a look as we walked out. Very unimpressed. In a town with lots of options , I consider myself somewhat of a gentleman . My friend Danny and I where out and about and looking for a place to get get cleaned up prior to Going out . I knew the moment I walked in this place was special . I asked a young man who was employed there if I could get some change for the parking meter , he told me ," We don't have no change " this is just the Type of place I was looking for . Came to this place with my boyfriend as a walk in and the barbers saw us and didn't even greet my boyfriend and I. We waited for a good amount of time to hear or even get greeted but after 20 minutes we then decided to go up to ask them how long is the wait for walk ins and they coldly said "we'll get you". After another 45 minutes or so they finally came and got him. But mind you that we couldn't make an appointment but somehow people who got there after us who had "appointments" went before us. Which was weird to me. For some reason the barber spent around an hour(which was how long we were there before we got service) on a customers haircut but when it was my boyfriends turn, is was a 20 minute haircut. The haircut my boyfriend had was uneven tapered on the back, one of the sides were long than the other and most importantly my boyfriend's hair was not lined up on the front or at the back. A quick tip for new costumers: if you're new to this place, don't get a cut from here. You're money are better off somewhere else. Especially if you are not a regular to this place or know anyone who works there, it's best to avoid this barber shop. My boyfriend and I have been to many barber shops in Chico and out of town, one thing this place lacks is customer service and satisfaction. read more

The vibes just wasn't there lol but after my experience there I knew I had to find somewhere else. Then I found this place on yelp and from the reviews to the pictures I knew this place had to be it. So I came in the next day and as soon as I walked in everyone greeted me. There was nice reggae playing (not loud and not soft but just perfect) it had A LOT OF CLASS. We were in town from San Francisco for a spur of the moment, let's go find some swimming holes kind've weekend. I forgot to bring my razor to shave my face and needed to get my hair cleaned up. I was walking the streets of Chico headed to the farmers market, where we stumbled across this establishment. I walked in and there wasn't a chair available and pretty packed. Great music playing and everyone working looked happy and good vibes in the air. The Barber working the station closest to the door greeted us and asked what I needed done. Then asked if I could come back in about 20 min. After going to the farmers market and dropping off our goodies back at the hotel, I went back to the Barber Shop and it was still packed. Right before I could sit down, a nice gentleman said, "he was waiting and ready for me." He didn't even know my name, but they kept their word. I sat down and he offered me a beverage and even asked if I could see the game as a joke because they have multiple Big Screen TV's. The Barber's name who took care of me was Jorge Hernandez. I told him I wanted a close shave and to "Bic" my head. This was the first time I ever fathomed the idea to completely shave my head. It was a humid and hot weekend, so why not. Jorge explained every step and continued to to what he was best at. At the end of my shave, it was weird not having any hair on my head and face, but it felt great! Best part is he didn't cut me anywhere and my skin was very soft and smooth. So, If you're in Chico and need a shave, cut, fade, or trim make sure you stop by and ask for Jorge. Walked in on a whim, and they were able to accommodate hubby in less than 10 min for a hot towel shave. Super cute, not overly trendy, but comfortable place for guys to get all cleaned up. Hubby felt super pampered. Only feedback...the blond woman who works here talks super loud...took away from the relaxing vibe if that's what you're going for.
