    (N2) Freshly Blanched Beef Noodle
    Zachary D.

If you're a fan of Chinese beef noodle soup, Chief Beef is absolutely worth a visit. This is a quick, no-frills spot serving affordable, comforting bowls that are perfect on a cold day. For about $12 you get a generously sized portion that's filling and satisfying. You order at the front counter with the cashier, and once your number is called, you pick up your bowl at the back counter. There's a self-serve condiment station with cilantro, garlic, chili, salt, MSG, etc. where you can season your soup exactly to your taste. If you plan on getting a side, I highly recommend bundling it with your soup to save a couple bucks. The biggest downside during my visit was some confusion at the register, as the cashier spoke very limited English. I didn't realize the bundle option existed until after ordering, which was a bit frustrating. Seating is limited in this small space and is first come, first served, so it's best for solo diners or groups of no more than 4. Overall, Chief Beef was delicious, a great value, and well worth stopping by if you're in Flushing.

My go to spot for beef noodle soup in flushing. Customers can select toppings based on their preferences. Soup is very flavorful. Definitely recommended.

Got the N1 and it was basically noodles in water. Out of sheer desperation, I even reached for Szechuan peppercorn powder & ended up with my mouth completely numb... and even so, it was flavorless. How??? Hello flavor, are you there?? The beef was the only thing remotely edible, but one decent topping can't rescue a broth that never existed. A toppings bar is not a substitute for taste.

    A good meal.

I passed this place as I was walking from my parking garage to the subway. The sign on the front said "hungry panda.". The pictures of the food looked very good I decided to stop by for dinner on the way back to my car. I come in, the place is, small, but it's bright and clean. They have a kiosk that you order from. You order on the kiosk, pay, you pick up your drink at the front counter, and then you go back and the kitchen in the back, lets you know when your food is ready. I do not know if you also have the option to order at the front counter. I had the blanched beef with rice noodles in soup. The broth by itself was just a little bit bland but a trip to their condiments bar, plus a little bit of soy sauce and vinegar, fixed that right up. The broth was delicious! The noodles were the perfect texture. And while the beef was a little bit, chewy, it was still very good. I left the restaurant stuffed. Food and soda, the price was very reasonable. I would gladly stop in again. Thank you.

The best thing is the DIY sauce/condiments bar! Especially the sour beans yummm I love that with the noodles. I didn't get to try the soup version, but the dry noodle version is ok, albeit on the plain side if you don't get to add all the additional toppings. Noodles are very bouncy and it's a huge portion, but the beef wasn't that tender and involved too much chewing. My favorite was probably the cucumbers hah. Plenty of seating inside. You order at the front or with the machine, you find your own seat and clean up after yourself.

I ordered the N2 because the lady at the front recommended it saying the meat is fresh and tender and she was right. If you like rice noodles and need a quick lunch/dinner this is the place to go to. They have a self service bar where you can add chili oil, scallions, peanuts, etc to the noodles. I've also tried the dry noodles here and it was really good.

I was sad to find out our favorite BOGO boba spot had shut down. This spot opened up in its place. The place was popping during lunch time. They take no tips, and the noodles came out lightning fast. Everything was self serve, so grab your own utensils and add your own condiments. I got the Original Beef Shank Noodles ($10.99), and I had to take multiple trips to the sauce station to beef it up. I'm not sure if it was intended to be this way, but please go ham on the condiments, because this dish needs it. With all the extra sauces and garlic, the soup finally tasted decent. The noodles, though, were slippery, soft, and well cooked. If you want a noodle soup that already has good flavor, go with the Braised Beef Brisket Dry Noodle ($12.99). They also had good beef brisket, although small pieces.

There are many flavors and ingredients you can add by yourself,so nice

Warning to all with a pineapple allergy like me: do not eat the duck sauce. If you like spicy ask for hot mustard instead. Orange chicken was crispy and flavorful. I did not find it spicy, but my spice tolerance is very high. My fiance had the chicken with broccoli and it looked amazing. Try the cold noodles. They are chewy and delicious. For me the fried dumplings were good, but not great. Worth a try but nothing to rave over.

I ordered the cured pork with garlic shoots and dry fried green beans. The cured pork was quite salty, and paired well with the buttery, tender leeks it was cooked with. The dish was not overly oily, and was pleasant over white rice. I enjoyed the chewiness of the pork which allowed you to experience the complex flavor. The green beans were well fried, with characteristic texture signature to this dish. The seasoning was very well balanced and not overpowering to the natural sweetness of the green beans. I would recommend either dish. They were both slightly toned down iterations when compared to the times I've eaten these dishes at other Sichuan restaurants in flushing, but still well seasoned and well cooked. The service was very warm and friendly, and many other customers seemed to be returning regulars.

However, the delivery experience has been very uncomfortable. On my last order, I only had $13 left in my bank account and paid $11 for the food. When the delivery driver arrived, he immediately demanded a tip. I explained that I didn't have cash, but he insisted that I send him a tip through Zelle. He stood there and refused to leave until I did it. He literally watched me open my banking app, saw that I only had $2 left in my account, and still waited while I sent those last $2 as a tip. He even checked to make sure the payment went through before leaving. I want to be clear that I do tip when I can, because I understand that delivery drivers work hard. But sometimes money is tight and people are just trying to afford food. Being pressured and essentially forced to tip is extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional.

But when you don't have the luxury of a car and you don't want to pay 40 dollars on UberEats for good Chinese food, you'll be convinced to try your luck in the area. Not gonna lie, I chose Dumpling House because it was the closest Chinese food near me, but I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The women who greeted me at the counter was friendly and took my order: one large hot and sour soup and a small house special fried rice. I wouldn't recommend coming on a hot day because the shop can be hot if you're waiting for takeout, but the wait wasn't too long. After about 15 to 20 minutes, I was walking home with $11 dollar takeout. The hot and sour soup is pretty good and I've had a lot of hot and sour soup in my life. The consistency is not too thin or thick and the flavor is balanced (not too sweet or sour). For 5 dollars, I think it's a steal. The house special rice is good and not too greasy. For some reason, it still tasted Americanized even with the Asian ingredients I was used to. There was some chicken, barbecue pork, mixed veggies, egg, etc. and the ingredients mixed well despite it tasting American. Even though I got a small rice, I still had some leftover to eat the next day. Despite my obviously biased Asian tastebuds, I was very happy with what I got and I will definitely be back for some more hot and sour soup!

When life is lackadaisical and you need an uplifting force or encouragement for catharsis to be resilient as an awakening, dumplings are summoned. It brings presence to every bite for awareness and genuine aliveness. My emotional pain cannot be disconnected for healing. As I sat in silence I checked my email waiting for my order fulfillment and arrival. This business is a local cafe, not quite a restaurant but very Asian specifically a medley of Chinese dumplings and heavy Japanese decor atmosphere. I was very bewildered of this dumpling business is Japanese or Chinese cuisine, or possibly both incorporated? Asian fusion? Japanese beckoning cat, maneki-neko 招き猫, is heavy presence for decor atmosphere throughout the entire cafe. There is one large Japanese beckoning cat with one paw raised in a beckoning gesture by the cash wrap register. This beckoning cat is adorable! The menu is very simple offerings but does not describe the contents in detail. It is not a extensive list as it is a cafe. The server/cashier advise to order first, sit to eat and pay last like a full service restaurant. This business has been listed in my Yelp bookmark to try for a long time. The slightly warm temperature has teased me to induce Spring Fever as the first full day post Daylight Saving Time, 2026 and I was outdoors for walk as exercise. Sauces and condiments are available at a station counter. There is one large TV. Background music is somewhat loud audible and sourced by Spotify. Customer service is average. There is one unisex facility on the premise and is relatively clean. There is a small parking lot in the front shared with neighboring businesses. This business is located in a small shopping complex named Metro Plaza. Chicken dumpling noodle soup, $12.00 The dumplings were pan seared fried, unfortunately not traditionally boiled especially for noodle soup. The dumplings are average. The noodles were rice vermicelli with half boiled egg and scallions in Japanese Tonkotsu Ramen soup base broth. The Japanese Tonkotsu Ramen soup base broth and half boiled egg is a replica of Japanese Ramen noodle soup. It was served piping hot. Chinese soup spoon Tangzhi ladle where the end is at a angle is provided with one disposable wooden chopstick as utensils. Jasmine Tea, cold $1.50 This was awful! It was one tea bag filled with ice. I did not taste the Jasmine aromatic flavor. Stay away from ordering any drink as Song Dumpling Cafe is good for dumplings. It is certainly no bubble tea business to obtain quality Chinese tea. After my MTA NYC Transit SBS Q52 bus ride, I walked from Woodhaven Boulevard moving east on Metropolitan Avenue to gain access.
