The security guard or rent a cop was extremely rude. As a fan of Yellowstone, the manner in which passerby's are treated is unnecessary.

While this may be a fantastic place to stay based on the reviews herein, if you're just interested in getting a picture at the gate because you're a fan of "Yellowstone" DON't BOTHER. The security guard was extremely rude and basically barked,"it's private property - leave!". We had just pulled over (to the side of the road). We were not even on the property! It would have at least been civil to post a sign saying "keep off - private property" "No public access for Dutton pictures" and we would've been on our way but there was nothing posted except a grumpy guard! Shame on the owners! We did get a drive by pix read more
Chief Joseph Ranch is the most amazing place i've ever been. Everything about our visit was perfect. We were treated like family the entire time we were there. Shane and Angela are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. The tour Shane gave us was incredible and we learned things about the ranch that have nothing to do with Yellowstone. If you visit take time to enjoy the beauty of the ranch and not get swept away in the fact that the show is filmed there. The ranch is the real star of the show. I hope i'm blessed with a return visit someday. read more
My wife and I booked the Ben Cook cabin (aka Rips cabin). The cabin is outfitted with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths on the lower level along with kitchen and great room with a beautiful stone wood burning fireplace. The loft has another full bed and 2 twin beds so you could conceivably sleep 8 people. Then comes the rest of the ranch. When you watch the TV show Yellowstone even with the magnificent cinematography it does not do it justice. The property is truly breathtaking. Then comes the lovely proprietors. They could not have been anymore accommodating. The owner was kind enough to spend a bit of time one day with us detailing all about the property. He took us through the entire ranch and explained in detail everything about the property. He made us feel like part of the family. We had the entire ranch to ourselves. No other guests were there which was really nice. Everything on the property looked so lush as they were preparing to film for the show. There was a large herd of elk one night that came into the field. I fly fished on the beautiful river right below the property on the other side of the road. My wife and I were simply taken back on the beauty of the property. We do live here in Montana but this part of Montana does not get any better. I simply could go on and on about the ranch itself but the proprieters truly made it a spectacular experience. We would really have loved to come about mid-October but with the filming that takes over the property for a few weeks that wasn't feasible. If you are a fan of the show and want to get away from it all you will not find serenity like you will here on the ranch. Thank you for making us feel like part of your family even if it was for only 4 days. We will never be able to top the hospitality experienced with you folks.
