This being that is right next to "Monumento a la revolución" which is a historical monument in Mexico City. La Soldadera means the women that accompanied Mexican Soldiers during the revolution. They would support the men in many ways. Our experience was the best. We had the chance to meet the owners and they were very down to earth and welcoming. They offered us a wine tasting and also encouraged us to try Gusanos de Maguey and Escamoles which are fried Worms from the Maguey plant and Ant Eggs served with corn tortillas and guac. For my main course I had a very tender Arrachera steak with onions and cheese stuffed jalapeño. For drink I had a Buchanans 18 year Wiskey and my wife ordered albóndigas al chipotle (meatballs) with rice. As an appetizer we ordered Asadero Stuffed Shrimp Wrapped with Bacon and Chipotle mayo. These were my favorite. Lots of flavor. We had a great time with great people, music and exelente food. Definitely a recommend.

The four or five times I have enjoyed lunch here, the facility was not busy and I got a table quickly and lucked into the same waiter. The service made me feel like I was at a Michelin 3-star restaurant. I drink an enormous amount of coffee and my cup was kept full. Because there were no diners around me, I felt it was OK to do some reading on my laptop and the house Wifi worked fine. Because I don't speak Spanish, I was unable to chat with the waiter about who normally uses this Club. Is it mostly faculty? Why is it so vast? I am getting ready to return to UNAM and I can't wait to sit in this magnificent space. All of the food is good -- not as memorable as the service and the fact that I feel like I am seated inside a dormant volcano... but just fine. I highly recommend this club. I hope you get "my" waiter -- he runs about with the speed of a soccer star and keeps a sharp eye on the coffee cup.

The saved ice was made with some food coloring mix with sugar which was already pretty bad. They didn't put any mango on the mango shaved ice but instead put some grapes on it, which tasted ok. When you get half way thru the shaved ice, the fluffy shaved is gone, instead you are left with liquid slush filled with food coloring and overpowering sugar and chemical taste. It was bad. These guys need to learn how to make a decent shaved ice before offering. I guess is ok for the locals, but for folks who been to major Korean neighborhoods around the world you know this is not a good product. Overall a decent place to hang out to people watch, have a cup of coffee, but would recommend against having the shaved ice. Maybe the other stuff is better on the menu.
