There comes a moment when I just need to purge to make room and create a relaxing space as though certainly not unwanted but items that has long been useful or needed and is in my opinion great items that hopefully will find home versus the landfill especially at reasonable cost. As the holiday seasons are slowly approaching is obvious with a section filled with Halloween decor and such items are a one time use it's nice to find price friendly deals. This Kapolei location is located on a road behind Costco amongst many industrial buildings and seems to be sharing the same lot with a school but since it was on a Sunday the parking lot was empty though filled with shoppers as many come here to shop and the donation drop off is the building right beside the store and is a very easy drop as a staff came up to me to help with the items. I had to give the shop a peek and see what they have and did find a small item that interested me and at the bargain price of $3.99 was amazing and will go into great use. Lots of clothing and seasonal items displayed making a great place to find options that are price friendly. Thank you!

Most of the clothes are off the hangers, tangled amongst themselves, or just in the wrong section. So much to look at but the racks are stuffed. I only noticed a small Target section, which is where outdated items go FYI, so that was disappointing. Would recommend if youre in the area but please note that lots of people shop here so the racks may be picked over.

Waiting list (3 yrs !) for housing, I stayed at Base Hotel at $165/day. Then told to leave after 1 month because active soldiers needed the room (paid more $). Angry about that, moved out to Hotels near the airport at ~ $200/DAY! With only a computer & phone, and the money saved from teaching, I tried many places and finally on my last leg from Hotel costs, I called US VETS in Kapolei. A 'Behavior Psychologist' understood I had $300 left at the Central YMCA, and came to my rescue. I carried my large 5 bag of clothing to the site, meet the man, filed out many forms, and was given a 3-man room for $170 A MONTH, 3 good meals a day, internet hook-up, A/C living spaces, and other Vets to talk to everyday, some who had some of the same problems living in this expense State of HI. Most men had health problems from past wars ... Vietnam, Korea, some from the Gulf. Few had drug problems, but most were just financially broke like myself. This is what is important: It gives a man time to search for housing and a job without worrying about food, shelter, security, and a feeling of loneliness. To leave that place is ON YOU, not the people working there! They do provide job fairs, job training, employees to change one's behavior problems in class ... but to find housing, I used the internet & phone to contact Charities for Housing. Fill out the forms and don't give up. Waiting for an answer takes patience and luck. After one year, I was lucky to get a great place in Mililani, got a Substitute Teaching Certificate for HI schools, and financed a car for transport. Let me add one more Item which is important when living at US VETS, your assigned Manager is very important. I had a good one (Gary) who gave me more internet time, DD-214 research, always available for discussions of importance. So I read some sad reviews on US VETS, and decided to even out the score. Here at Eater Seals, they have enough (caring) staff that you can feel confident your child is safe. If anything does happen (because kids will be kids) they always call and tell us about it when it happens. It puts us at ease knowing he is cared for, and not discriminated against, because of his limitations. They also work on life skills (cooking, computer class, etc.) They are wonderful here! It's money well spent! Their inter-session camps (school breaks) are fantastic too! They take the kids on so many fun outings! He's been more places here in Oahu that I have, just by his experiences with Easter Seals! (Even with them taking the kids in the community, I feel at ease knowing they will be taking great care of the kids and helping them have a great time!)

After learning more about this non-profit organization and being in awe of their mission, I was always willing to find ways to assist and help these innocent animals in need. The board members of this organization are very kind and you can tell they are all helpful in educating the public about pet care and their mission to rescue these dogs in need. For the past couple of years, I have been given the opportunity to take photos of their doggos in need to showcase their fun personalities in hopes of finding their furever home. Their process of finding the right doggo for the right family is very thorough and you can tell they care about the animals. When it comes to your interest in fostering one of their dogs, they'll be in constant communication with you while you're fostering and do reference checks to ensure their dogs are being well taken care of. They also offer educational events and do some fun fundraisers all to help with taking care of the dog's medical bills as some rescues may need extra love than others. Because there is no age limit to participation and because it brings ALL people together. People with disabilities don't grow out of it. They grow up and many are forgotten as they get older. Since this organizations inception in 1968 thousands of people with intellectual disabilities and without have come together. There are so many more people that we can reach. Your heart just melts to see an athelete running down the field, stop as he notices his fellow athletes behind him and join hands with them as they all cross the finish line together. The games are held throughout the year and include events in powerlifting, track, bocce ball, bowling, swimming, basketball, golf, soccer, football....one of the absolute best organizations for the number of people they reach and the community of good people they represent. Everyone is a winner!

We have had the other schools call and we have no intentions of moving her. The teachers, the school, the front office, everything continue to impress me. My daughter gets the very most out of the school. The book fairs, the teachers (not just her own - they all know her name!), extra programs like soccer, the play, the curriculum, and the friends - it is a wonderful balance. She has learned so many things thanks to the teachers. Moving to Hawaii was hard - I worried about my daughter adjusting to new things and places, but she is so happy at Seagull Ko'Olina and has learned so much. Prince Kuhio Community Center…read more I have been to this small community center to listen to town events, discuss some of the grants that affect the community and most recently to attend event that OHA and another Hawaiian organization presented. I didn't know it but our latest presentation was on Prince Kuhio Day weekend and we took a group photo in front of his portrait that stands in the room. The building compared to all the other Honolulu big buildings is relatively small. There is mostly one main room that is like a standard classroom, instead of typical desks there are tables and folding chairs available for meets that normally take place there. There are clean bathrooms. This is the first place that I have ever gone into that has signage and makes Gender Neutral Bathrooms accessible and easy to use. Pono in that they care for everyone. It is right off of the main drag that is bumping up to the Rail. The fire station is at the end of the block and the parking lot is easy enough for use for Prince Kuhio Community Center or DHHL but they also have their own parking. also is on the same road of the Wendys at the KMA Mall- so easy to find now verses before when it was mostly open land with few landmarks.

It isn't only cleanups, they handle restoration and land management by preservation, teaching, and so much more. Kimeona and his team are well versed and well organized in what they are doing. They have equipment so when you arrive, after you fill out the documents online, you are ready to go. Of course prepare by getting a good meal in you, staying hydrated, bring water (they also supply water but bring your reusable water bottle), comfortable clothes and shoes, and be prepared to "give back"! I love learning history and culture and the oli and taking care of the Aina. I don't want to give away too much, but at the same time I want to share everything. I have been volunteering with this team, mostly at the same place, although I met up at Magic Island and it needed, for a couple of years. My takeaways, it's personal for me.

Then months after the tress/branches were stepped on and crushed to be part of the earth. After about an hour and half of work we took a little environmental tour to learn of the necessary ecological balance needed for the islands. I like that Helping Hands is truly a nonprofit organization because they don't sell your donated goods to the people who need them. People can come get the goods for free at helping hands. Staff were always very friendly and helpful with unloading my car. They are also very good about giving me the tax write off forms. (Salvation Army has you go to a website to get tax form and I couldn't even create an account successfully on the website. Kept getting error message.) Helping hands drop off times are Monday to Friday from 11 AM to 2 PM so the drop off window is pretty limited.
