Not sure why the service is so off. Rude and unhelpful. I moved into the neighborhood 3 years ago. Went in twice w my 1 year old at the time and both times we were met with rude l workers who treated us like we were a nuisance because I had a child. My nanny stopped by the store the other day and took my 2.5 yr old son in and she was met w the same rudeness. They couldn't be bothered to help her find books and had the same annoyance towards my son. They still bought 3 books to support independent stores. I can careless this place is well regarded. Your rude service esp towards my son at a CHILDREN'S book store will be met with a negative review and me telling my FF not to waste their time. What a shame. read more

Visited the store for the first time this past weekend for an author event, and I loved this amazing store. It's a nice space with all the shelves filled with a variety of books. From the classics, new releases, and foreign language versions. I saw some amazing picture books that I would love in my library, but I would have needed a few boxes to get them home. The staff were all friendly, helpful, and eager to help me find a particular book I was looking for(they had it). I am looking forward to my next visit to see what new books they might have. read more

I took my 3rd grader to children's book world and it was such a lovely experience. I'm bad with names, but there was a gentleman helping another family and he was so involved and providing really tailored advice, I thought they were shopping with a tutor. But when he finished with them he came over to us and with just a little information, made amazing recommendations for my kiddo and her younger sibs who weren't even there. She left feeling invigorated and read half of one of the books we got that very day. They also have a really adorable kids cookbook section which paired so nicely with a graphic novel we got about a girl who's learning to cook. Honestly it was a magical experience. All the staff were so friendly. And it reminded me how sad it is that communities are missing out on so much when we purchase online from mega companies. My family has decided to make this book store a monthly outing. I've been coming here to buy gifts for friends' kids and then for my own kid once she was born. If you ever need help finding a gift, the staff are great at providing suggestions. Children's Book World is heaven for bookworms. The staff is super nice and won't bother your child if they happen to be reading a book. We've seen several authors here and had books signed, which are among my daughter's most prized possessions. If you're lucky, you can even pick up a signed book as a gift. Speaking of gifts, they provide free gift wrapping! If you're as challenged at gift wrapping as I am, it's an added bonus. If you're pressed for time, they'll give you some gift wrapping to take with you. Sure, it's cheaper to order books on Amazon, but I'd rather support Children's Book World. read more

Had some last-minute shopping for a birthday party, and they were life savers. A wide range of books (from Hip Hop Speaks to Children: A Celebration of Poetry with a Beat to 1992's Mirette of the High Wire to the 1946 Caldecott Medal winner Pedro: The Angel of Olvera Street), plus a super friendly and helpful staff. They have in-store readings on a regular basis, and all the staff with whom I spoke seemed to have a deep knowledge of, and affection for, children's literature. As it turned out, I had done a bunch of online research before proceeding into the store (just the opposite of what often times happens in the real world, where people browse in-store and buy online), so I didn't need to avail myself of their expertise, but the way they spoke of the authors I'd chosen led me to believe I would have been perfectly served just by placing myself in their capable hands. I can't say I will shop here often, because I don't have kids, but if you do, or need to buy presents for some, by all means hurry on over here. read more

I came in looking for a book to buy my niece for her bday and ended up leaving with 3 books. Even as an adult I was entertained in there with some really funny books they have in there. The store is really near and organized with a super friendly staff that can help you find a book and even give you recommendations.
