Trugoal Puppy Services…read more I recently read a negative review of Trugoal puppy Services. In the review It stated that the puppies where puppy mill dogs. In his defence and have adopted a puppy from Trugoal, I did months of looking around he was courteous and helpful in every way. He also provided me with several references which all where very happy with their puppy. In fact, my puppy did have an unforseen vet bill and Trugoal voluntarily paid the deductible on my insurance without hesitation. While some people may have an axe to grind, why not check with a credible source like the spca (which is what I did), they told me that they had visited Turgoal on Serveral occassions and have always found their facility to be exemplary. Have they had complaints..YES and when they where investigated the complaints where found to have had no merit. I have also been to the facility in Chilwack and there are no cages of any kind. It is a resort like situaition, not a puppy mill of ahy kind. People, let's keep are criticism in perspective and not say hurtful things unless we are certain that what we are saying is in deed true. PS We are now considering getting a second puppy ( guess that says it all).

We finally visited S.A.I.N.T.S. this weekend. Well overdue - for years! This animal haven for senior and special needs animals was just heart-warming and full of love. Founder, Carol Hine is a nurse during the day and a "saint" by night. She started this sanctuary in 2004 and it's grown into a beautiful home and 3-acre property to these wonderful animals. Some of the animals have ended up at S.A.I.N.T.S. as a result of animal cruelty cases, abandonment, extended stays at animal shelters, owners moving, owners not being able to afford looking after their sick or disabled animals any longer. Weekly tours happen at the facility on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00am. Ours was led by long-time volunteer, Dawne. She did a great job providing background info and a thorough explanation of what S.A.I.N.T.S. is all about, how they care for the animals and the stories behind some of their furry residents. They currently have 130+ animals under their care including dogs, cats, horses, llamas, sheep, pigs... S.A.I.N.T.S. is always looking for volunteers, sponsorship (you can even choose which animal), and donations (monetary and non). There's a "wish list" on their site as to the items they're always in need of and you can easily donate and sponsor via their site too. S.A.I.N.T.S. has done an amazing job of turning a bad or unwanted experience into a happy sanctuary of love. Thank you for saving and caring for the animals!

The animals are so sweet and they are all very happy and friendly, I love those elderly dogs they are the most adorable dogs a group was a feeding and they were so cute all on their own pillow with their food and for the dogs that need help a helper was hand feeding one they are all very loved and it shows in their happy faces, and the farm animals are just as wonderful they are all gentle and friendly and everyone gets along, these beautiful animals are so special they are friendly and have excellent manners i really don't know their previous owners can not want them and unless it's an extreme circumstance such death or sickness of the owner how someone could abandon them and some in such cowardly ways i read the adorable pig we saw was dumped off in a mountain, that poor pig must have been terrified, for the animals here I think every single one of them is living the happiest days of their lives here they are treated like the treasures they are, such caring people who save them and love them. I've never met Carol but she's a very special lady to open up her home and create this sanctuary for elderly and unwanted animals she is a saint. It's so worth it to go on the tour even if your not an animal lover you will be by the end of the tour, I think they do tours on the weekends you may want to check their website but I can see donations are well appreciated it all goes for the animals I wished I had more cash on me to donate but will next time. Do not put fake plastic plants in with the beta fish. The plastic plants rip and tear the fins for the little guys. Silk plants are far better then plastic. Also when i called the supervisor wanted to know who said it so they can be corrected. No, instead only correcting 1 person or the 2 that sold us the fish i think everybody needs to be trained on this not just 1 person that will last a week. Before I could even see them, I was told that if a cat is under 6 months old, adopting two is required. I wasn't even allowed to open a kennel and gently interact--I had to wait in a separate room for the staff to bring one in. After a 30-minute wait, I was told I needed to fill out a different application--apparently cat and dog adoptions use separate forms. While I was filling it out, I noticed someone receiving a large bag of pet food. She said it was part of their animal food bank, which I thought was wonderful. I asked about it and was told I could sign up. But then everything shifted. Because I inquired about the food bank, I was told I wasn't "financially responsible enough" to adopt. I explained I have food and resources for a pet, and that my last two ESA companions--a dog and a cat--each lived over 21 wonderful years with me. Still, I was denied the chance to even meet the cat I came for. I asked them to discard my application. This experience hurt deeply. I came with love to give and a stable home to offer. I never imagined being judged for asking about a support program offered to others. I will find a cat in need--just not from here.

While I was there, I noticed a little pug and asked about her. They told me she wasn't available for adoption. I could see why -- her butt was prolapsed and there was liquid poop and blood all over her kennel. She was panting, whining, and frantically trying to get out. It was really upsetting to see. I spoke with the manager, who told me not to worry, that they had it under control and the dog was fine. I left feeling terrible. I came back a few days later and the poor pug was still in the same condition -- prolapse, bloody diarrhea, the whole thing. She still looked miserable. I'm really concerned that they don't have the animals' best interest at heart. A prolapsed rectum is painful, and there was clearly blood coming from her. I just don't understand how a person could look at that and think it's okay to leave her like that. This experience has me seriously questioning the level of care the animals are getting. I wanted to support the shelter, but I left feeling heartbroken and worried. I'm still looking to adopt a dog, but after this experience I don't feel confident adopting from here.

I tried again two days later, same experience happened. Finally a day later they told me the cat I chose was already gone and told me to just make an appointment whenever I see a new cat arrives. I did but then the lady said I can't make an appointment because the cat just came in, need 72 hours. She can't guarantee I would get the cat though. I don't want to waste more time, I went to a different shelter where people know how to run the business. I got the cat!

This review if for the cat area, as I didn't see where the dogs were kept. The cats all hang out in 2 adjoining rooms, one of which is a good size outdoor covered patio. So they can go back and forth whenever they feel like it, and they're not confined to little cages, which is pretty awesome. The staff seemed really nice too, which is always a plus. I would definitely come back here when I'm ready to add to my kitty family.
