They have a huge range of flower arrangements available, from a bunch of daffodils to funeral flowers and wedding arrangements. I recently used them to purchase funeral flowers, and they were extremely professional at such a difficult time. They were very helpful pointing out all the variations that were available, not trying to sell the most expensive arrangements, and trying to find out little about the deceased in order to tailor the arrangement to the likes of the deceased. They also sell small teddies and balloons and have a little selection of potted plants.

They have a good variety of tools and seeds, a wide range of pots of different quality and the usual assortment of garden ornaments. I was sorely tempted by the water-features, until I looked at the price labels! The cafe is quite spacious and has a terrace of about half the size again. Powell's is a wonderful place that sells fruit and veg but also manages to be like a deli with…read morefresh cheeses and exotic things in jars, delicious chocolate, wholefoods, healthy snacks and juices. A lot of the locals support this little shop by doing the bulk of their shopping here. The prices can't always compete with the supermarkets but it's on your doorstep (no need to drive) and so very useful that it would be a crime to lose it. Service here is nearly always with a smile and staff will help pack your bag or offer advice about what kind of potatoes to buy. For such a small place it is remarkable how rarely a queue builds up and shows just how hard the staff work to keep their customers happy.

Abracadabra is really more of a gift shop than a florist in that most of the interior of the shop…read more(and the window display) is full of gift items - ornaments, cuddly toys and the like. Mixed in amongst these are a few things for the garden. The strangest product they sell is the local beer from Dent Brewery in the neighbouring valley. Why the florist sells this and yet none of the local pubs or the off-licence do is a complete mystery to me! They do sell flowers of course. These are usually the traditional range - things such as carnations, chrysanthemums and roses, depending on the time of year, and you will find a selection in the buckets outside on the pavement.
