I had this service done a couple of years ago, but I'm still to this day dealing with the consequences. An absolute nightmare from beginning to end. I wish I had followed my gut feelings during the initial visit; now I am having to pay another company to re-do half of the work. I called to have a rain pan installed (that wasn't currently installed) and the termination cap replaced (old, rusted, looked bad). Their salesman comes out, we discuss my two needs, he flies a drone over my house to take a look, and gives me an exorbitant quote. We discuss more, and I begrudgingly accept to do the job for the price offered because I need it done. I provide the deposit for half the amount to get started. He emails me the invoice, and he only has the rain pan listed for the service. I ask him to correct it on the spot. He suddenly gets amnesia, claims we didn't just discuss the two items that we just agreed upon for this huge fee, and that we had only agreed upon the rain pan being installed. I told him to update the invoice with the agreed upon services/items or give me the deposit back. He refuses to give me the deposit back, gets upset, says he's "never going to find a termination cap that fits," says the current one is "just fine," but updates the invoice to reflect what we discussed (I SO WISH I HAD JUST INSISTED ON GETTING THE DEPOSIT BACK OR STOPPED PAYMENT ON THE CHECK, AND JUST PAID THE STUPID FEE FOR THEM TO COME OUT. Would have been money well spent to get rid of them.) He sends a guy out the following week to take measurements for the job. It then takes an eternity for them to return and actually do the job. They keep claiming they can't find a termination cap that will fit. About 1-2 months later, I get an email with one photo of the completed work taken from like 20 feet away (even though the guy is standing on the roof and could have provided close-up shots). I never hear from them again. The following years, every time it rains, I hear rain coming in the chimney (which I had never heard before). I hire another company to come out, clean the chimney, and give me some options on correcting Chimney "Pro" Cleaners work so the rain doesn't come into the chimney (the WHOLE point of a termination cap is stop the rain and other things from coming into the chimney! BIG FAT FAIL!). When the new company comes, they take close-up pictures to show me what's actually up there. Chimney "Pro" Cleaners had purchased a termination cap that was a completely different size, took metal shears and made cuts up the side, forced the cap around the top of the chimney, and drilled screws all the way around to try to make it fit to the shape. I have to pay to replace it again and repair the damage. Awesome. So if you want to waste your money and have to hire another company to repair the repairs, go with these guys. read more

We requested a chimney top and chase repair estimation. We told them that We don't have a fireplace problem because we have never used the fireplace since the house was built. The day the estimator came, flew a small drone over our roof for about 30 seconds, then looked at our chimney from the ground for about 10 seconds, then asked to inspect our fireplace. We told him that we never use the fireplace and will not use it in future. However, he insisted on doing so. There is no sign of leaking or anything. At the end, he said that "your tree branches need to be trimmed to prevent fire. I have to put it in my estimate to protect myself". We said we will manage to do that in spite of never use fireplace. Then he said that he has finished. When we asked how much money to repair our chimney, he said $1099 for replacing the water pan and cap. We said that our request also included repairing the chase. He said that is someone else's job. If we need, he can ask other people in his company to come to make another estimation for chase repair. We paid $99 for a 10 minutes tour without gaining anything we didn't know before that. We want chimney chase and top repair, not someone come in to look a never used fireplace. Had a scheduling snafu, then another, and I was very ready for this to be a *bad* review, but these folks worked to not only get us scheduled at a completely new time that was much friendlier to our schedule, but played with the deal to get us more for less. I didn't ask (and rarely do, I just want the job done), but they did it. On job day, Jake was super communicative and landed on the early end of the time frame (which you know never happens). Nice dude. Walked me through the whole thing, asked some good questions -- as a cat man, he knew to ask about the odds of them bolting with the door partially open -- and got to work. A little over an hour later, we were wrapped. Obviously the final results will show over time, but this is a very good contractor that's more than willing to work with a client. Saul came out for a consultation about my fireplace but after a brief discussion, I asked Saul if he had time to do a chimney inspection which included him using the camera to inspect my chimney. Saul, was very accommodating and was able to complete the inspection. I was extremely pleased with his knowledge and professionalism. Not heard from them despite trying to communicate with them. so, In short: - Do hard sale (try to scare you) - Tried to reap me off (wanted to sell me a panel for $375 while it is $240 on their site) - Do not complete the job (agreed to pain after work but never did) and never to hear them again. When I started the first fire of the season and my home filled with smoke, I called Chimney Pro right away for a cleaning and inspection. They were able to fit me in quickly, showed up right on time, and imagine my surprise when the owner of the company turned up on my doorstep! I found Chimney Pro Cleaners on Groupon in November and thought $79 was a steal for a chimney sweep. We had just bought our first home, and saving money was a big plus. The guy seemed to be quick and efficient. However, before he left, he showed me a crack that was in the back panel of the fireplace and told me that if was not fixed, our home had serious potential of burning down. Talk about frightening. He told me he was running a special for Christmas and that he could replace it for $500- same day. I told him I needed to do more research and that we would get back to him. He seemed annoyed but I didn't think much of it. Fast forward to February. I had talked to several fireplace specialist about repairing the crack and installing gas logs. Although prices for each varied GREATLY, one thing remained consistent. None of the companies said the panel needed to be replaced. They said it was common for them to have cracks, and that it was also common for chimney sweeps to recommend replacing it because it was a money maker for them. I talked to seven different companies. They all had that same response. Today, I had a licensed professional come out to install my gas logs. He asked if my chimney had been swept and I told him it had been in November and that we had not used the fireplace at all since then. About twenty minutes later, he had pulled out a HUGE pile of soot from inside the chimney (and just so everyone knows, he did not charge me extra for sweeping out all the soot that Chimney Pro Cleaners failed to remove). I contacted Chimney Pro Cleaners and was YELLED at by the rep for letting him know the situation. I never asked for a refund. I told them that was not my point in calling. My point was to inform them that their employee did not do their job so that they could take care of the situation to help future customers. There are several WONDERFUL companies in and around the Atlanta, Marietta, Kennesaw, and Woodstock areas that have great reviews and are knowledgeable about fireplaces. Do your research! UPDATE: The owner of the company contacted me and apologized immensely for the representative I spoke with on the phone and the way he acted towards me. He assured me several times that this is not how he runs his company and that the representative had actually been fired since the conversation. He also apologized for the cleaning that had not been properly done! YES I'M SWEET, BUT I'M NO SUCKER! I scheduled an appointment for an inspection and cleaning with Chimney Pro Cleaners. The representative came out today, took a cursory look at the inside of our chimney and decided that we did not need to have our chimney cleaned. However, there was some rust on the pipes and this is indicative of a leak, (that we have never had). We go outside where he uses a drone to examine our chimney cap and sure enough there is rust, (which is to be expected because it is outside and exposed to rain). According to him, we need to have our cap replaced as soon as possible. Sound the alarm! He tells us if we bring along the next door neighbor and the one across the street, he can give us a really good deal. We don't solicit our neighbors or allow them to be fleeced, (wrong neighborhood). I will say that I did ask him to take a peek at one of my immediate neighbors, (family) because we tend to share information. This guy had a very aggressive sales approach which was an immediate turn off but I needed the drama to play out so that I could get a good picture of his company. What might be annoying to me might be fine for you so we will continue. He was really insistent on us taking immediate action when we were just starting to gathering information. This was one of those red flag moments for me. The price given seemed very inflated but it didn't really matter at this point because the bells were already rapidly ringing in my head. As we are nearing the end of the conversation, I specifically ask, (for the curious), if we bring our neighbor along, how much of a discount will we get? This is when he says that he will have to discuss the matter with his manager to see what he can do for me. When you are a fast talking salesperson, you tend to trip up and this is the perfect example because he had previously told us that he was the owner of the company. If you're the owner, this statement makes no sense because you would be perfectly capable of making your own independent decision. Anyway, he was just too slick for us and this is not how we like to conduct business. If I call in regards to a specific service, I don't need to be sold, coerced or manipulated, I simply need you to give me a comprehensive report of your findings and suggestions. I had researched chimney caps a while ago and at that time, the documented average price was between $200 and $300 for the galvanized cap while the higher quality stainless steel option carries a lifetime warranty and usually costs between $300 and $600 installed. Even if I added $200 for inflation, the maximum price would still only be $500 for the installation of a galvanized cap and not the $950 quoted. Whoa! I consider the galvanized steel cap a "builder grade" product and when it comes to repairs and replacement, I am always looking to "upgrade" so stainless steel is my preference. Our current cap happens to be painted black and he was under the assumption that it was something that it wasn't, which is why an actual "hands on" inspection (instead of just a photo), is necessary to make an accurate assessment, and to justify services and pricing. Interestingly, he did not bring any written material nor did he discuss the various services and options available. This is uncommon because service providers want you to remember their name, products and services so they make sure you get a business card and informational folder or pamphlet. We received nothing. Also, when service providers come to my home, I like to see them in full uniform with marked vehicles. This readily identifies them and I don't have to keep trying to remember a name as we are talking. I can just casually glance at their shirt. Also, I don't have to wonder if I am talking to a sub-contractor. Yes, that drone is sweeeet!! But I am going to need you to not get caught up in the "bells and whistles" and focus on the matter at hand. Don't make a quick decision, just allow the information to marinate, while you do your research and obtain additional estimates. Here is what you need to know: ***If you decide to go with this company, they require a 50% non-refundable deposit and you will pay the balance once the install is complete. You don't need to be at home for them to pre- measure or install place the cap. *** Apparently they only offer galvanized steel caps so if you want to upgrade to stainless steel or copper, you will need to look elsewhere. When it comes to business, I just prefer matters to flow in a particular direction and this just did not meet my expectations so I will be exploring other options. 7/31/18 I have never met nor had a conversation with the person who responded to my review.
