What a delight! We've been going to China Delights for many years. It's our favorite Chinese food eatery in the local area. I'm surprised that for all these times I've been coming here, I've never written a review until now. So, here it is! After months of no indoor dining due to Covid, its now available. So we dined in tonight. Oh what a delight it was to sit down and finally enjoy the meal again at China Delights! From the special green menu, we ordered, 3-items plus a vegetable chow mein and a side of rice. We ordered Beef With Green Pepper with Special Sauce, Prawns with String Beans, and Salt and Pepper Rock Cod Fillet. They were all delicious, tasty and too much! Lol...We ended up taking the rest to-go. Three of the best things about China Delights are the portions, flavors and prices: The serving are consistently generous. They are perfect for parties or feeding a large family clan. Portions are good and so is the taste. So far, anything that I've ever ordered tasted good to great! Try out any of their fried rice or Hong Kong style chow mein or Honey Walnut Prawns or Salt n pepper Tofu or Fish! All are delicious! And lastly, the price. The price for all the items I've ever ordered are reasonably priced. These are the three reasons that keep us coming back for more! Check it out when you're in the area! This use to be my go to place for Chinese lunch and take out. The food is quite tasty. The Egg Foo Young dishes are special. Portion sizes are large. Lunch is still a good deal at about $15 (my favorite lunch special is the Mongolian Beef). My "Beef" with the food outside of the lunch menu is how ridiculously expensive it has gotten since roughly the pandemic. Prices on individual dishes have kept up in price $4-$6/dish, essentially skyrocketing the price of ordering out. When takeout Chinese for 3 now eclipses $70, it has passed the level that I think is reasonable! read more

What unpleasant experience today! Being coming here for years with my family. We went there to support our community to our disappointment we walked in asked for a table we were 3 and very skinny teen and my mother in law and I are not big just so you have a clue what is to come! They said not that table to small! I said no we will be okay so after that we were given a pink paper menu we ordered than 2 other families come in they were given a green menu so when she got back with our bill because she never come To check on us. I did ask excuse is that a different on the menu ? She said yes those are for Chinese customers! Wow so I can't not get that menu if I'm not Chinese she said next time you can come and ask for the menu I said how am I going to ask for a hidding menu if I was not made aware!? This is horrible for business. I will not comeback bc this is a form of racism and don't tolerate it. read more

We were treated to dinner from here, and it was served to our house! Very nice surprise. We have eaten here in person, and this was the first time we had "to go" experience. We enjoyed the orange chicken, beef chow mein, won ton soup and black mushroom with bean curd. And a side of rice! All the dishes were very tasty, although the black mushroom and bean curd could have been a little tastier, although I am not sure what to recommend. It had some flavor, but I felt that something was lacking. Still, it filled me up! And I forgot to get extra sauce on the side . . . if you are eating this alone, the sauce is enough, but with added rice it is not enough to "flavor" the rice - needs that extra sauce! My first time ordering from this place and it was pretty good. We ordered the lunch special: sweet and sour chicken with chow mein ($1.50 additional to substitute from the standard fried rice) , rock cod ish fillet sautéed with spinach/veggies with fried rice, and roasted duck wonton soup. I really liked the roasted duck, it was not overly salted like some places and they were quite generous with the portion too I think they gave an entire leg of duck (thigh and drumstick) and about 10 pieces of wonton. My hubby was happy with his lunch too (sweet and sour chicken + chow mein) and the fried rice and fish fillet was ok, nothing spectacular but again, big portion. Our total was $38.15 with tax. It is cheaper (by around $3-$4 per dish) to order directly from the restaurant vs using grub hub. So if you're getting a takeout, call the restaurant directly! They have catering party trays too...small tray = 3 orders, and larger tray = 5 orders. Certainly good to know if we need Chinese food for a gathering (when it is safe to do so in the future). read more

China Delights is the sister restaurant to King Valley Tea House in Pinole. Both are owned by the same family, so the food and menu are very similar. The exception is that there is no dim sum here on the weekend. China Delights also offered a special menu(green menu) that allows you to select 3 dishes for a set price typically lower than if you had ordered them separately. Soup(choice of 3 types) is included so it is a good deal for a family or small groups. We find the food here tasty, the portions are good size, so usually we have to take home leftovers and consume for a couple of more meals. The value proposition here is therefore very good. The decor is nice inside and the service attentive. Plenty of parking in the mall. read more

This spot is almost hidden. It is in a mostly abandoned shopping mall in Tara Hills by the Safeway. It can be easy to avoid this place because of the location but you would probably miss out on some pretty good food. We ordered a few different items and they were all good and flavorful. They seem to do a lot of takeout orders which probably keeps them in business. The interior is actually pretty good size and could easily accommodate a large party. The service was actually pretty good also but we were the only ones in the restaurant for some time before a few other groups entered. Not the best location but I recommend the food. read more

This was our go to Chinese restaurant for years. I gave them a 5 Star review . Consistently great food. Last night was a huge disappointment. Potstickers we're doughy, beef with snow peas was mostly water chestnuts and too much fish sauce and the chow main was a pile of noodles, not much meat or vegetables. Rounding down to 3 stars. My generation (gen Y? Millennials?) treated our elders to a Chinese New Year lunch. 34 people spread across 3 large tables. Each table had a $158 banquet style family meal plus we added a dish of catfish in black bean sauce as fish is customary in a CNY meal. The food is quite decent. The fried dishes especially were very flavorful: crispy chicken and Peking style spareribs (more or less sweet and sour sauce). It's almost unfair to compare against the restaurants in areas such as San Francisco and South Bay, which are much more heavily Chinese populated, but compare I must. The Peking duck and the black pepper beef were ok, but not on par with something you'd get in above referenced areas. Interestingly, there was a blackout mid-meal. Even more interestingly, the food kept coming out during the blackout. A few of us turned on our phone flashlights and propped then on top of the glass cups for some mood lighting. The electricity came back on about 15-20 minutes later. I do commend the staff for working through the blackout without missing much of a beat. Overall recommendation - worth going if you're looking for fairly decent Chinese food and you're in the area. read more

The food comes out quickly, tasty , and service is good. Good sized portions so matches the prices. I don't know if it was the size of our group (6) , but TIP was included in the bill. One of my go to restaurants. I usually order their 3 item special for $39 which includes soup. Food is fresh and the cook is amazingly fast. Service is usually good too. It's normally not too crowded. Last time we went we had group of ten and ordered three of the three item specials with 3 of the different soups. read more

I'm reviewing a takeout order. This is my first time from this restaurant and I have to say everything was delicious and the portions were very generous. I especially liked the salt and pepper pork chops, the beef chow fun and the beef with broccoli. The pan fried flounder was good but as with flounder, I spent a lot of time picking the bones out of my mouth. The chicken salad was good but was mostly lettuce and was a bit pricey for basically a head of iceberg lettuce. I will be back. read more

Came in about 20 minutes before closing and they still took me since I was not even 1 minute away . Very considerate and she's very sweet. Sitting area didn't have too many people in the building. The options for places serving great Cantonese American "comfort food" are dwindling everyday as the generation that founded most of these places chooses retirement. Received a flyer for "Fast Free Delivery" from this place. Decided to try it out even though the prices are a bit high for Chinese food and other delivery places. I ordered Kung Pao chicken for basically $12. For that price I expected a good portion of the plate and rice - like every other restaurant does when you order an entree. Well, no rice. I called to make sure this wasn't a mistake and it's not. They just don't provide rice like every other Chinese restaurant does. I also ordered the egg drop soup - which is a good portion and the taste was good so if you're a soup lover, definitely try this soup out. Also I asked for chili OIL and all I got was sriracha sauce. Not the same thing. Taste is okay, but I'm not ordering from here again. Can get more bang for my buck somewhere else. read more

Excellent Chinese food! Everything was delicious and maintained it's tastiness with leftovers the next day. A Chinese friend invited me to a banquet dinner who highly recommended the place. We had salt and pepper pork and fish, beef, vegetable and seafood dishes. We started with egg drop soup which was hearty and substantial. Yummy!! We had a large platter of combination fried rice and everyone could not stop eating it down to the last grain of rice. The peking duck with buns was amazing!
