Date of visit: April 22, 2026 I didn't realize that this was just a carry out place, but the weather was so amazing that we were able to take our food over to Hart Park and enjoy it on one of the picnic tables. Sesame chicken is my Chinese food "go to," and as far as they go, this one was pretty average with not a ton of flavor. The plate, however, was a great value with the rice and the egg roll, though that was a bit underwhelming as well. My friend's General Tso's, however, was better than my Sesame, with more flavor but not spicy like so many others when it comes to this dish. China East is a place that you could go to snag something quick and affordable, but is pretty average in terms of taste. Stopped in a Friday around 5:15 for carry out. Had never been here before, didn't know it was here, kind of hidden in a small strip mall. Service was quick and friendly, this is a carry out only establishment. Didn't order by phone so wasn't sure how long it would take but prepared fresh it took about 15 minutes, so they were quick. Order included shrimp egg foo young, sweet and sour chicken (came with white rice) and shrimp fried rice. Typical Chinese American fare, very generous portions (4 large egg foo young, quart of both fried rice and chicken dish). Enough food to feed 4-6 people. Taste didn't disappoint but the fried rice could have been seasoned a bit more. Shrimp in the rice and egg foo young were medium sized and plentiful. I liked that the sweet sour sauce and gravy came in separate containers and could be added when you began to eat. All in all I thought the food was good so I will be returning. Great stop here for a quick dinner. When I say quick, I mean it. Ordered there and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. It was ready in about 5. Got the general tso's chicken combo and it was pretty good. Came with pork fried rice and a pork egg roll. For a good amount of food for $11 and it was pretty good. Can't wait to try some other staples soon. Small entry way but while waiting, a lot of people came through to grab pickup. Testament to how good they are since they're that busy. Also really liked that they asked if people wanted sauces, fortune cookies or utensils. Most places just toss a handful of everything in and we end up throwing things away. Never knew this existed in my hometown of 35+ years. Staff is super friendly and makes entrées fresh in front of you which I love. Extensive menu and love the combos sweet and sour pork was pretty good but a little too much better for me so I peeled it, fried rice didn't really feel like fried, but it was still good and the eggrolls were a little chewy. Perhaps a few extra seconds in the fryer made it a little tough but overall very very good and very fresh. read more

This is the quintessential place for Chinese-American when you just need comfort food. They're take-out only, so I always order over the phone and pick it up about 20 minutes later and it's always predictable and perfect for what it is. My usual order includes a pint of vegetable lo mein and eggplant in garlic sauce. They definitely do not skimp on portion sizes and the containers are always packed full to the brim. The eggplant is very good and full of garlicky flavor (and actual garlic pieces!). Sometimes it does feel a little too sweet for my taste, but I miss it when I don't order it. The lo mein is pretty classic to what we all know and is a staple for me. Occasionally we also get the vegetable dumplings - we've tried both steamed and fried and while both are good, my personal preference is the chewiness you get from steamed. Also remember to ask for chili oil! It goes with everything and amps up the flavor to all dishes. It's not the best Chinese place in the city nor the most authentic, but when you're looking for comfort food this place provides! read more

We have been ordering here forever. Only takeout. We ordered a few times a month, pre-pandemic, and have been ordering almost as much post-pandemic. Service has actually improved, imo. They have a new system that assigns you a number when you call. You call, place the order, they assign you a number (for example, you're number 2). Drive in, they come to your car, tell them you're number 2, and they run your order out and take your credit card (or cash if you use cash). Food is always good. They used to do some soda deal where you could get 2L sodas for free with your dinner if you ordered a certain amount. I haven't had that lately, but I really don't care. It was a nice bonus, but I wasn't there for the soda. My kids probably thought it was cool, but that's it. Food choices are wide, all foods we have had are good. If I had to estimate, we have probably ordered about 20 different menu items over time. All are good. We have probably had 1-2 times where it's not their best night, but overall, it's great. It's our Go To Spot. The best: They are open on Christmas evening, Thanksgiving, and other nights that it's hard to find an open place. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

Every Chinese restaurant in the USA it seems has the same standard non-authentic Chinese cuisine on their menu - that's what most people demand. I stopped here to get someone else sweet and sour chicken - they told me it was good. However, after studying the menu for a minute and listening to everyone speaking mandarin I was sure they could whip up something more authentic. So after saying hi in Chinese I quickly requested a custom Szechuan style meal in English and they were happy to oblige. It was delicious and just what I wanted. I have never had bad food from this place until today! I am disgusted with their egg rolls. I usually order 2 eggrolls and pepper steak. I tried to eat the first egg roll but realized it wasn't crispy but in fact was laden with oil! It was so damn greasy that you would have thought that I was eating southern fried chicken. I rolled the 2nd egg roll in a bounty paper towel, flipped it over and rolled it again. I wish I could post a picture of this nonsense! because it was still to greasy to eat like it had been dipped in cold oil! I will never eat here again. I was craving Chinese food because I am having thanksgiving leftovers for the next couple days so I wanted to break that up but I wanted to try a new place. I got on yelp and I saw this place that I have driven past many times and never seen it because it's back in a strip mall. The place is all business with a big kitchen compared to the small walk up area, yes it's take out only and I can deal with that but I wanted sit down. It's the typical pictures of the food as the menu board with a few tables and chairs to sit while you wait for the take out. I was going to do the special combination platter S22, beef with garlic sauce. When I placed my order the kitchen spring to life and everything was made fresh and hot. The S22 beef with garlic sauce comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll which smelled great and looked good as well. Visual looking at it the pork fried rice it was not the sparse kind and had a nice amount of pork, onions, peas and carrots with the rice cooked firm and tasty. The beef was tasty and tender in the garlic cause with fresh crisp vegetables that were not cooked to mush, I was really digging the contrast of the tender beef and crisp vegetables in the garlic sauce. Big chunks of mushrooms and broccoli were nice by the way. The egg roll was better than average for a combination platter but not that great egg roll I'm in search of. Overall I liked my tasty/fresh S22 combination platter and it was better than the average Chinese take out places that I have been to although it didn't top my favorite place I would definitely go back here and try some more of the menu. read more

Nothing worse than biting into something that is supposed to be little chicken breast strips but is sinewy and tendon like. Ruined whole meal. I know it's odd to give Chinese food a 5 star but this place deserves it! Some how they make typical Chinese food not greasy and extra delicious. The quality of their food is noticeable. The sweet and sour chicken is fantastic! You get pieces of real chicken, not the gross crunchy fried bits. The crab Rangoon's are yummy! I don't know what the sauce they give with them is but it's sweet and delicious! Whenever we are in the area we pick up dinner. We sure do miss living by this place! read more

I only got an eggroll and a large wonton soup here- it was a cold, drizzly, crummy day outside and I wanted to warm up a bit. The eggroll was huge and I was worried it'd be a sort of greasy soggy diaper mess, but the cook was good and it was actually delicious. Soup was very standard- good enough, but nothing outstanding. Broth OK, but not great, and the dumplings tasted like they'd been premade, not bad but not great. This is definitely a take out/delivery establishment and it was awkward eating at one of the two small tables out front, which got COLD as people came in to pick up their orders. The kitchen is completely visible and was very clean. I would have no problem ordering from here for takeout, while I didn't eat any of their other dishes I could see and smell them and everything looked good. They got an extra star from me for the cleanliness of the kitchen and how professional the staff were at knocking out dishes that looked and smelled great, quickly. Solid Chinese takeout that tastes fresh and not too greasy. Was in the area and saw this spot had such good reviews. I really liked how the kitchen is open to the front counter, you can see the cooks making orders to order. I decided to place my order at the counter as I wanted to review the menu before ordering in person and the order was ready in 15 minutes. I tried the Shrimp Fried Rice, which was on par with standard fried rice with nice sized shrimp and greasy comfort food goodness. I also tried the Shrimp Egg Foo Young. This dish tasted especially fresh of egg and veggies with nice pieces of cabbage and other veggies being discernible. They packaged the orders up nicely and provided tons of the gravy for the Egg Foo Young. My fiance who isn't a huge fan of this dish enjoyed China East's version - I think because it tasted more fresh and of egg. Overall this is a solid Chinese takeout spot and I'd consider it again. The only slight negative I can think of is that I do not care for the soy sauce packets they have - they're nearly flavorless.
