I kinda feel sad about this one as this wss our last night on trip and after a long day I just wanted some good old American Chinese to end the night. It is a family run establishment, and seeing their child sitting in the small dining room area (two tables) made me feel "oh how cute," but the ambiance was a little odd. Bare bones place for Chinese food. China Garden is the only place in Elburn to get it. It's located in a lonely looking strip mall. Had bad expectations, which helped the food seem a lot better. The prices are pretty cheap, which also helped. A place for only carryout. It only has like one table inside. This has a pretty basic Chinese American menu. It's about $8 for an entree. That's cheap as fuck. Also it's a big portion so even better. We got the General Tso's Tofu. It's now time for the bad part. The food here kind of sucks. Tofu was like partly chopped into pieces and tasted kind of chewy and tough. Had a pretty good spice to it. That was the best thing about the food for sure. Have worse expectations and this will seem like pretty okay food. It's cheap so it's like you get what you pay for so you can't complain too much about it. China Garden - General Tso's Tofu - Chinese Near Me - Elburn, Illinois

My family and I moved to Elburn in May and absolutely LOVE this town! Our Christmas tradition is to have Chinese. We decided to try China Garden because it's local. $78 worth of beef jerky ( Teriyaki chicken on a stick ) not sure what to say about the ( fried grab Rangoon ) except hahah wow! ( Tofu ) was fried and Shriveled and Inedible. ( Pan fried noodles ) dry and more like fried crispy noodles. This is my first ever review on Yelp and I feel bad especially since it's right here and this could have been a place we went to frequently. Here's a few pictures. Make your own judgment. Foos is great, portion size is big, food is cheap. Taste good. Try the goons. Fried rice is good. It's pretty good.

The beef fried rice ok/good. The way the beef is introduced is weird. It's long strips of beef and very grey in color. Had to cut the beef up and recook on a pan to give it some life. Only had a bit of the beef, was just chewy. read more

Well..here are the facts.. 1. Staff is very unfriendly, and is afraid to smile, or have a conversation. I don't care if you have to fake it, but if I am paying you money, you should be friendly and at least smile. 2. Food was nasty. Looked like a 3 yr old cooked it, and seriously lacked any effort. Egg Rolls were over-cooked, and very, very greasy. 3. Restaurant was dirty, and clearly they didn't care about it. I guess this is typical of most Asian Restaurants, but my god. I don't think they would pass a health inspection. All in all. I wish I could go back in time, and keep on driving down 47 ;) read more

I don't know what happened here. The food was at least edible in the past. We don't have a lot of food options in Elburn, but this was one. We hadn't been in a while and tried it. The vegetables in the dishes we ordered were mushy, soft, and way overcooked or had been cooked more than once. All the food was terrible. Staff is all different now. Amazing Chinese food and it's always done and ready so fast! The food is always hot and freshly made and makes me keep wanting to go for more the next day every time I eat. My family used to love this place, the old staff was friendly and fast. New staff barely speaks and if they do it isn't loud enough and then they have a not so friendly attitude when you ask them what they said. The last time I was there was around May, they said the wait was going to be 20 minutes when I called to order my food. After 20 minutes I went to get my food, I got there and it wasn't even started yet. I sat at one of the tables and waited for 30 minutes and the next thing I knew there was a big mouse crawling up the chair to the table I was at!! So unbelievably nasty, I left the place and went home. What got me was the fact that they called me numerous times to tell me that my food was ready to pick up (an hour later) and each time I had told them about what happened. They didn't care at all, they just wanted me to pick up my order, pay and leave. I will never eat here again. read more

The owners here are super friendly and sweet. They have extremely fast service and are happy to accomodate special requests on orders. The food is delicious and consistent. Try the combo plates where you get an entree, fried rice and an egg roll. This is a lot of food, so expect to have leftovers for the lunch the next day, but for the price, it can't be beat! read more

I never knew there was actually really bad Chinese food until now. The chicken in the fried rice was obviously boiled then added to the bland rice along with boiled frozen peas and carrots. I can't even come up with an explanation for the egg rolls other than horrible. Throwing 50.00 in the garbage. read more

I live in town and this is my go to place for fresh Chinese food. Other places are better, but this place is fast, friendly, and good. :)

Not bad, for takeout. My kung pao chicken was lacking the kick it should have had, but my spouse was happy with his egg foo yung. It's convenient to where we live, so may give it another try. read more

I don't know what happened to this place recently but it really went down hill. Must be new owners/cooks. It used to be so good and now it is terrible. The vegi's in our food were like mush. Everything was overcooked. The egg rolls were 80 percent breading. I would recommend going somewhere else. read more
