Wife and I thought we'd try this restaurant, we have only had Chinese once before since we moved to Tn. This restaurant was clean, and the staff was quite pleasant and helpful. We placed our order and were told it would be 15 or so minutes. No problem, sat down and did a little reading on my phone and next thing I knew, they were calling my name saying my order was ready, less than 10 min...... pretty quick. The food smelled great in the car on the way home, and tasted even bettet once we got home. Not the absolute best ever, but, was very good. Staff is friendly, other than that, very mediocre grub. The food is almost. A plain Jane generic version of Asian cuisine. They offer crisp seasoned green beans but they are heavily salted. I visited this restaurant once. That was enough. This Chinese buffet is located in a strip mall. You can tell it is dirty when you walk in the door. The food was old and had been sitting on the buffet for quite some time. The General's Chicken must be a reference to General Sherman because it was old, dry, and crusty. Okay let me start off by saying I did not go to the buffet I ordered takeout. I just don't understand it and I'm completely disappointed ... The flavor and seasoning is on point, the veggies are fresh and crisp and its really good portions. Even the soup and egg rolls are really good.. Why why why would you ruin it by cooking it with old chicken?!!! Seriously, it's like chicken jerky. I really don't understand the poor reviews here! We have been "locals" (my husband, age 69y.--but a Very 'Young' 69yrs!--our now 20yr old son--he was 11yrs when we relocated here from MI, & me, age 53yrs.) for almost 9 yrs & go to China King Buffet fairly regularly. Our son used to LOVE going to the buffet when he was younger & we liked going because he actually tried a variety of foods-- many with fresh veggies & garlic, giving him some fairly "healthy" options as a preteen, when "healthy" was something preteens typically ran Screaming from!!! We usually went there after shopping at Kroger--found a few doors down in this "strip mall"--& just didn't feel up to going home, unloading the car, putting Everything away, & THEN having to make dinner on top of ALL THAT!! I must admit that, for awhile, back in 2017, they may have changed their chef, as we found a sudden, quite dramatic, downturn in the quality & taste of the food!! The budget Also seems to have been cut in 2017minutes, as there were less "high quality, more costly" vegetables found on the buffet, such as the dish made with asparagus, which was nowhere to be found in multiple visits, & which had previously Always been available, & Very Tasty, I might add (along with fresh & crisp, just the way a "good stir fry veggie" should be!)! However, in 2018, we gave it a try again, & found that all had returned to the "Good", & once again, we all enjoyed generous portions (if you chose the entree rather than the buffet, as I often do, enjoying a Very Tasteful, Very Well Made, & Highly Recommended Mushu-Pork--& believe me when I say that I've tried All Sorts of attempts at the dish by All Sorts of Restaurant Chefs!!) & fresh, hot food, as the "trays", set into the buffet tables, are changed very frequently we've noted in our restaurant site visits. For two-hour food, which is our preference, the food is typically very well packed, over-filled, fresh & accurate! When we did have a missing egg roll ONCE, they readily rectified the error in a More than Generous manner, providing g us with a credit for an Order of 4 egg rolls the next time we ordered. The manager is extremely rude. She told us to leave after requesting fresh sweet and sour chicken. This restaurant has about 7 items on the menu and if one is burnt or not fresh there is not much else to eat. I will try again after the manager has been replaced. I feel bad for the owner because they are at the mercy of the manager because she is the only one on the staff that can speak English. read more

Friendly waitress is about the only good thing I can say about this place. Looks on the dirty side and not much to choose from on the buffet. Save your money and time and go eat some place better. I wouldn't even give them ONE STAR, but Yelp insists on A Star rating. My son got 3 dinners, the only edible part was the soy and sweet & sour sauces. We couldn't give it to our dogs. I thought maybe the soup would be OK, nope! Save your hard earned money, go somewhere else. I have never been so disgusted and angry about a take home dinner. I eat here each time I pass through Crossville and love it. The food is always fresh and the waitress is friendly. In a good location.

This is the ONLY Chinese restaurant in town that has good Chinese food... but you have to be careful what you order. For instance, their MuShi pork is very good, but the barbeque spare ribs are southern barbeque - not asian barbeque. If you're in Crossville and want Chinese food, this is the ONLY restaurant I'd recommend. read more

I've been going to this restaurant for several years now. It is a family-run business. I usually get a buffet, either to eat in or to go. The food is always fresh and service is excellent. I've tried other Chinese restaurant in Crossville and, while I may like one or two items on their menu/buffet better than at China King, as a whole China King is the best (IMHO). read more
