[[HIGHLIGHT]]Location and vibe - Free standing building - no hassles like going to a mall or mini mall. On busy Newport Avenue but there is usually good parking, though crowded if the nail salon patrons next door hog up the spaces.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside is dated, and outside too, some of the cushions in the booths are bumpy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Vibe is casual and friendly, with traditional Chinese props and colors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bathrooms could be improved.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food - Selection is vast, all of the food comes out fairly quickly depending on how busy, good traditional Chinese fare, my favorites include orange peel beef, sweet and sour chicken, and Mongolian Beef. Not a fan of their Sizzling rice soup because of the thickener. My favorite time to go is lunch. Smaller entrees, but comes with small cup of soup, one egg roll, and one won ton. Be careful eating that hot mustard. Lunches start around $15 for the whole meal. Service - All of the servers are really good, Our favorite is Joaquin because he explains the food preparation questions, will put your leftovers in a container, and quick to greet you, get your bill back quickly when you're done, is friendly with quick pleasant conversation. Bryan the bus person is quick to bring beverages and refill water cups, cleaning plates and special requests (i.e. chopsticks or more napkins. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Clientele is a lot of variety - seems like a popular place for business meetups and family meals because they can handle a big party, and have small two person booths and tables as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I appreciate that this is a family run place, not a chain. Overall a solid place for Chinese food.

    Chicken Fried Rice

China Palace's chicken fried rice is... familiar. Not in a nostalgic "wow this takes me back" way, but in the sense that you already know exactly what you're getting before you open the container. It's not the best fried rice -- not even close -- but it's edible, predictable, and fills the role of quick neighborhood takeout. The flavors are mild and a bit plain, and compared to about 7-10 years ago the value just isn't what it used to be. Back then the portions felt more generous and the ingredients tasted fresher. Today it feels lighter while costing more, which you definitely notice. Where the place does stand out is the service. It's clearly family owned and they are consistently polite, patient, and welcoming. You never feel rushed or ignored, and they treat customers respectfully, which goes a long way. Overall: you go here more for convenience and friendly service than for memorable food. It's dependable, just not impressive.

Kung-Pao Two Flavors (Shrimp and Chicken)

When I was a child growing up in OC the only Chinese restaurants I went to were Yang Ming and if my memory serves me correctly... this restaurant! But I think Tustin was their second location after moving from Anaheim. I just remember whenever the Mid-Autumn Festival rolled around, my folks would order Moon Cake from them. Hands down the pork one is my favorite, but the red bean with egg Yolk and black Sesame are good seconds! Now back to the Yelp review... My boyfriend and I had an unofficial Chinese Heritage Day and had lunch at China Palace. We ordered: * Stir-Fried Green Beans * Kung-Pao Two Flavors (Shrimp and Chicken) I was craving Kung-Pao all thanks to the Bon Appetit Your Majesty episode that showed Ming (China) chefs cooking the dish for a competition lol. Thus the Kung-Pao Shrimp and Chicken totally satisfied! I don't recall the last time I ordered this. I forgot how delicious this dish is, especially with the slight heat. Green Beans are always my favorite vegetable to have when I order Chinese food. I ordered this one with no meat, so it was the vegetarian option. The minced garlic and green onions in this dish was so good! The parking is super easy. The restaurant has a very large parking lot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The exterior of the building looks Asian style, so you won't miss it![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As for the interiors... it is like any other Chinese restaurant. Just the norm, which I hate to say it... it lacks any interior design.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On a random... I watched a video on Instagram and it said true Chinese restaurants do not get 5-stars. I hate to say it, but I think they are right! The reason I gave a 4-star is due to the -1 from ambiance. Everything else like food and servers is great!

I've been wanting to come here for a long time. This place has been here forever. I endedup getting the Po Po plate. It comes with Egg drop soup, ribs, egg rolls, wonton, fried shrimp, and paper wrapped chicken. They also bring you fried noodles with dipping sauces. I really enjoyed everything I ate. The ribs had a really good flavor. Egg drop soup is always good. I really liked the hot mustard that came with the fried noodles. They have a large lunch special menu that i plants on trying. I'd also like to come with a group and try the dinner combos to sample a bit of everything.

For starters, [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was impressed with the cleanliness and friendliness of this restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a great lunch menu that's come with soup and appetizers. The food is actually delicious here. So I'm impressed with this restaurant. I will come back again.

We love this place, everyone in my family comes here, but today we had a bad experience, we were eating and the restaurant just had open, they have literally 2 more tables with just 2 people each and my table with 4 people when suddenly I hear 2 ladies ate the entrance kind of fitting, I couldn't understand 1 bc she was softly speaking a different language and the other lady that understood was the sister of the owner she was answering in English with such a strong and upsetting voice, we all saw between each others at the tables and honestly I hope that doesn't happen often or they should go in the back to solve their problems with disturbing their costumers.

Coming in, you are greeted by the host. There were 4 in my party. We got seated right away, but it got filled soon as we had arrived. The server asked what we would like to drink and then came about 8 min later to take our orders. In between that time, they gave us these fried crispy wonton strips served with this horseradish dish, and another dip was sweet and sour sauce. When I tell you both those dips were sooo appetizing, we couldn't resist ourselves eating almost the entire plate. We also were greeted at our table by a gentleman named Devin (sorry if I had misspelled that), possibly one of the supervisors or managers. He was there to let us know that we were in for a good treat when they had their bar opened and were serving up a nice selection of wines and alcoholic beverages of that nature. None in my party, myself included, did not get an alcoholic beverage this time, but I might just try it out for the next time. Everything on their menu sounded good, but I had set my heart on the Lo Mein Noodles with Beef. It was so delicious; it hit my craving of some good noodles. It was like a plate to share with others, however I shared a little and took leftovers home. Others in my party had ordered beef and broccoli (2) & another friend ordered the Chicken Chop Suey. Each dish came with a cup of rice. The entire dining was a great first experience and satisfying. Also, GMO is found in none of their dishes. My friends are sensitive to that. We did call ahead and ask if any of their items had msg, and to our surprise they don't have it in any of their dishes. Only maybe found in the soy sauce packets and hoisin sauce. Other that that, our tummies were full but didn't feel sluggish. Definitely coming back. Also, just to add, the server didn't come back to refill our water, but it was understandable as the entire establishment was full of customers. Still a great experience.

There was a crowd of people waiting outside so I was a bit nervous that it would take really long. But we added our name to the waitlist on the iPad outside and we were sat in less than 30 minutes (when we went on the list, we were party 13). The wait went by super fast! By the time we finished our meal, there were lots of open seats. I first heard of this place as a "copycat Din Tai Fung". I actually think it's better to think of this place as another Taiwanese restaurant that serves similar food to DTF, but not a copycat. Although some of the popular items are the same (XLBs for example) the restaurants are definitely different. Firstly, the service here is SO FAST. And all the servers were really kind! We ordered our food and it felt like everything came out within MINUTES of each other. By the time we had all our savory dishes, I had only taken one bite out of the first dish. That's how fast it was! Haha We ended up ordering: Spicy XLBs, Beef Roll, Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup, and Taro XLBs for dessert. Everything was DELICIOUS! My husband's favorite was the Beef Roll, while I think my favorite may have been the soup. The Spicy XLBs (4/5) were great! They felt quite large as I ALMOST had to eat them in two bites (but like why would I ever do that). Flavor was great and I thought there was actually very little spice in these. Compared to DTF'x XLBs, I thought these were just as juicy, but less ginger-forward (which made it feel less flavorful), and more sweet. I was personally missing some acid and wanted a bit more salt cuz it was a tad sweet. The Beef Rolls were pretty good too (4.25/5)! Nice and crispy. Even though it's pan fried, it felt light because of the vegetables. And I know this is weird to say, but the combination of beef, hoison sauce, and veggies almost tasted like pho flavors...but crispy? Yummy! I personally again wanted a bit more salt. But I'd definitely order again. Now for my favorite, the Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup (4.5/5). WOOWWEEE! She's spicy! And I have a good spice tolerance so beware. I really loved the flavor of the broth. It was spicy and also had a really clean flavor. It looked like it would be a watery broth but WRONG! It was so flavorful. I loved the chewy noodles too and even the noodles on their own were spicy cuz they clung onto the broth. A really delicious soup! I'd love to eat this on a cold winter's day or when I'm sick. Delicious! The Taro XLBs (3.9/4) were pretty good too, but skippable. They weren't too sweet, which was nice. They had a lovely consistency and good taro flavor. But compared to everything else, they weren't that special. Overall, a really delicious restaurant! I'd definitely come here if I was craving XLBs/Taiwanese food.

We waited one hour on my visit, but that is to be expected as the restaurant is quite small. Beef Rolls (5/5): We got two orders of these, and it was our favorite for a reason. Crispy and flaky wrap on the outside and it was packed with flavor. It was very satisfying to eat! Scallion Pancakes (3.5/5): They were plain but that is to be expected, I didn't taste much scallion. It needed the sauce of course! Spicy Wontons (4/5): These are solid and the chili oil does pack a lot of heat. I would say they are on the spicier side, just wish there was a little more depth to it. Seven Grams XLB (4/5): Juicy and flavorful! Not the absolute best I've had, but still worth ordering. Golden Beef Noodle Soup (5/5): This bowl right here was amazing. Green leafy kale paired with the extra hearty soup was what made this bowl a standout dish for me. 100% would order this alone! Mapo Tofu (5/5): Yummy silky tofu cubes with the minced meat sauce were delicious in every bite! I had no other complaints, but this dish gets very filling easily. Seriously, this place is one of my favorite places in Tustin. The service one inside is efficient, and the ambience is a bit noisy and packed, but this place is popular for a reason. I'll definitely revisit this spot when I get the chance.

The interior is very unassuming and is next to a bulk sized grocery store for Asian food. We tried a variety of items: Shrimp egg rolls, fish with seaweed, fried pork buns, Shanghai rice cakes, and salt and pepper pork. All the items were really tasty except for the fried pork buns - don't get those. The bun part was very mushy and you didn't get any soup inside. The fish with seaweed and salt and pepper pork chops were excellent. Very flavorful and not too salty. I would definitely get those again. The Shanghai style rice cakes are also very good, nice and chewy, definitely cooked correctly. And you can't go wrong with the shrimp egg rolls - they came with large chunks of shrimp which was nice. Prices are very reasonable and portions are generous compared to what you would find in Irvine for similar quality. I would come back!

The restaurant itself is a bit on the small side so you'll be close to your neighbors not that it was an issue personally. My buddy and I ordered our items and shared with each other for a good full experience. We got the three-in-one noodles medium heat and the Ma Hu Beef noodles with mild heat alongside the cucumbers with medium heat as an appetizer. Cucumbers were very fresh! However, they really were just cucumbers with a little heat on them so they weren't anything too special. Once the main entrees came in, I couldn't stop myself from digging in! I forgot to take a picture until after some damage was done to our meals. Three-in-one was so flavorful and sweet with the noodles becoming incredibly soft after having mixed it all together. The star of the show for me though was the Ma Hu Beef noodles. The beef was remarkably tender and delicious and the noodles had a firmer texture that complimented with the flavors. Oddly enough, the mild heat on the Ma Hu Beef was spicier than the medium heat three-in-one! If you find yourself in the mood for Biangbiang noodles, this is definitely the spot to go to. There is a structure across the street that allows parking for the food court. I parked in the structure but I had a bad experience because since it's also parking for the residents above, the gate was closed on us after 8pm. I had to wait for a vehicle to come out and open the gate for not only just me but for multiple other people that had also parked in the structure!Just something to keep in mind. Delicious Chinese food and great for family style! Near full house each time I visit but no worries…read more- got seated quick. Casual restaurant with a selection of cold dishes displayed up front. Lemon water in pitcher is provided once you get seated. Order via QR code. A standout dish was the pork pancake, which was layered almost like a savory crepe. The exterior was crispy and slightly oily. Plenty of flavor packed into each bite mmm I also ordered the spicy sauerkraut lamb hot pot. It comes with flames & reminded me a bit of Boiling Point. Lots of napa cabbage in the broth. The lamb was excellently fatty... tender and soft! I've recently had another hot pot place with lean lamb so this was on point. Portions were generous and the price felt very reasonable. My favorite dish of the meal was the fatty beef with scallions. The beef was indeed fatty and rich flavor, with what I think was a nice subtle Shaoxing wine or cooking wine flavor. The natural sweetness of the onions balanced the savory, salty sauce nicely.

We ordered beef noodle soup, shrimp wonton soup & chicken noodle soup. All soup are different, but flavorful. My favorite is the shrimp noodle soup. We also ordered beef wraps and scallion pancakes - it was crispy. Service is excellent - food came put really quickly after ordering.

I've found my go-to spot for spicy wonton at A & J Restaurant on Jamboree. What I love about theirs…read moreis how clean and vinegary the sauce is, without any peanut butter flavor. I don't mind the peanut sauce version at other places, but I definitely prefer this vinegary approach. It lets the wonton itself shine through without being overwhelmed by heavy sauce. Quick service, convenient location, and consistently good execution. Highly recommend if you're in the area craving quality wonton. It was a takeout for me but the restaurant looks spacious. I wouldn't mind sitting down for a nice meal next time

Went to A&J with a few friends on a Friday night. There was about a 15-minute wait. We checked in,…read moretold them our party size, received a numbered ticket, and were seated shortly after. We ordered a variety of dishes to share, including the beef noodle soup, minced pork over rice, spicy wontons, fried pork chop, and scallion pancake. At first, the portions looked smaller than we expected, but the prices were reasonable and the food ended up being more filling than it appeared. We actually thought we'd need to order several more dishes for our group of four, but by the end of the meal we were completely satisfied. My favorite was definitely the spicy wontons. The wontons themselves were great, but the sauce was flavorful, slightly spicy, and addictive!
