Good buffet, excellent crab Rangoon, great variety, polite staff. The staff is composed of FOREIGNERS who don't have American languages or customs as their primary experience- they're not rude. We go all the time and the buffet is always hot or about to be refilled. Tables are clean, too. There's plenty of seating and they will let you pick where you want to be if you speak up. My dads on a knee rover and has been for years and they are always very accommodating when we go. Is it 5 stars worthy? No. Few places actually are and they're handed out like free bread anymore, but it's a 3.5-4 star place for value, cleanliness, speed of service, variety, etc... Whoever gave it crappy reviews probably woke up on the wrong side of the bed that day or had crazy standards. This place used to be so good! My family and I stopped in yesterday and some of the food was horrible the fried chicken was so dry it looked like beef Jerky but we still ate bc not all was horrible. But before being seated I tried paying for a total of 7 people 90.00 only 2 were under 9. But my card declined saying it was expired even though it doesn't expire until 2029 but that's not their fault but what is their fault is that the waitress saw us gather the only cash we had to pay for the dinners and I normally tip well but didn't have any other cash on me and she literally yelled thank you to each one of us even my kids bc we didn't have a tip for her n2m she only came to our table 1 time after seating us and that was when we were leaving. I found this place by reading reviews for a different Chinese restaurant and one of the reviews recommended this place over that one so I gave them a try. Here you pay in advance which I like because when you're done you can just go. If you aren't familiar with the setup, there is a lot more seating through the archway which you can't see from the entrance. A lot of local families with children were coming and going. I asked one dad if the food was good and he said yes. His little daughter said it was her favorite place. Overall I thought their buffet was better than the one in Mooresville. I loved the fried rice and the fried shrimp. One interesting entree was called Triple Delight which consisted of pepper steak, sweet and sour chicken and some other meat in a whole plethora of vegetables. There was a wide variety of entrees to choose from. Their desserts did not disappoint either. The chocolate cake was really rich. The vanilla pound cake was awesome. Cookies, pudding and ice cream, both scoop kind and soft serve, rounded out the choices. Parking was no problem in the big shared lot with IGA and the rest of the stores of the L shaped shopping center. The restroom was clean and fully stocked. This is our go to Chinese between Evansville and Indy. We stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon at lunch time. The buffet with drink is about $11. They have a nice variety of entrees and appetizers. I'm not a typically a teriyaki chicken fan but theirs is really good. We also really enjoyed the beef and broccoli, egg rolls, crab Rangoon, and ice cream. These were our favorites but everything we had was pretty tasty. The service was also great for a buffet. I really like this place. I have been coming for years. I used to live in ellettsville, and this was a weekly treat. I can definitely afford the prices: $6.96 for lunch and $9.10 for dinner. One weird thing is that you prepay. I hate this because they dont let you tip on credit cards. I always have to scrounge a dollar bill out of my wallet, and I'm not a cash carrier these days. This place is very much generic americanized Chinese food in suburban bloomington. The menu is standard that can be found at countless restaurants across United States. Nothing wrong with that but the taste was just underwhelming. Been here numerous times in past but once recently. Have had similar experiences but always liked how they had a buffet during my previous life. The spice levels are low, food overly sweet, bland. Granted this review is maybe getting a bit harsher of a review than it does by most people or would in many other communities, but bloomington is different. It boasts 12 authentic Chinese restaurants that serve wide variety of house curated dishes. This has a better overall collective yelp review than many of those due to the harsh critiquing bloomington residents give these establishments. For those who like overly sweetened non spicy takes on Chinese food this is right up the alley, but if in town visiting especially, keep in city and eat authentic fare. read more

The floor staff were generally attentive, drinks were refilled promptly. I was stunned, however, when I walked up to the buffet line and watched a woman HOLDING A DOG while she shoveled food into a container to go! Why on earth would you ever allow someone with an animal inside the restaurant? Even as I drove home with my lo mein, I wondered why the car wasn't filled with the aroma of delicious lo mein. When I arrived home and popped open the lid, I could see why. Very few veggies were used. The sauce was minimally placed on the noodles. The noodles tasted like a cheap brand of spaghetti noodles. I paid over $11 for this dish with a $2 tip. This is the best Chinese food in Ellettsville, and probably the best buffet in the Bloomington area. I've been getting Chinese food from this place since the owner's daughter was still in elementary school and they only had takeout. Then they expanded to add the buffet, which is so good my Dad eats here at least once a week. Now that I live farther from home, I make it a point to eat here when I visit Bloomington. My Mom loves the seafood options, and my Dad likes a little bit of everything, including ice cream for dessert. My favorite elements of the buffet include the egg drop and wonton soup, steamed rice, sweet & sour pork/chicken, General Tso's chicken, and honey chicken. Yum! They have three buffet "tables" of main meal dishes alone, plus another side area for salad and desserts I believe. You pay before you are seated, then you get drinks immediately.
