The locals I spoke with suggested we try China Wok, so let's check 'em out. From what I witnessed they are your basic Chinese-American fast food kitchen. With a couple of tables set up if you so happen to stay. Majority of the orders are to go. Ordering is no nonsense and meals are wok'ed up or fried quickly once placed. We stuck with ordering a couple of our go to staples for comparison. No major complaints, with the exception that I forgot to request light sauce on the General Taos, which when fulfilled you'll get a perfect ratio between crispy and sweet. So my bad on that. The portion received was huge and tasty, but I could only took a few bites of the cloying sauce. The order of Lemon Chicken had only one chopped up chicken breast sitting on top of a quarter head of chopped lettuce. Taste was good and similar to our previous go to but one chicken breast versus the usual two was out of proportion for the price. These people are total idiots! I place an order online and realized it said delivery not pick up. Not wanting to wait an hour or more on a Friday night I immediately called the restaurant and said i would pick it up. I arrived at the restaurant and the guy at the counter asked me for my cell number then told me it would be 4 mins more. About 7 mins later I asked for the status of my order and after searching everywhere he tells me they sent it out for delivery?????? I'm standing right in front of him for 7 mins.... I walked out of the resturant and told him to cancel. About 10 mins later they call me and say the order is ready come pick it up, REALLY???? Since all our usual Chinese restaurants are closed due to the Coronavirus, we decided to try this place which is quite far from our home. Rather than order delivery, we just dropped by to get it to go. We ordered two egg rolls, 4 teriyaki beef sticks, a small egg drop soup and a Pepsi. How hard is it to screw that up? Well, easy as it turns out - because the egg rolls were the size of Tortino's Pizza Rolls (at $1.75 each) and the beef sticks were nothing more than skewered beef jerky. Also, they had left the Pepsi can out of the bag (felt light) and charged us 20% more than what was on the menu. So, if you are in the hood - and are jonesing for Chinese, maybe try Quality Food (Chinese) at 3573 East Tremont instead. Can't be worse and for us, it is about a 1/4 mile closer. read more

Worst experience ever! Placed my order and was given the run around as I tracked the order through Grubhub! I was told that I would receive a phone call back as they tried tracking my order! I never received a phone call back and my phone call was disconnected each time I called! I placed a complaint in with Grubhub and was given a twenty percent refund but I suggested that Grubhub remove them from their restaurant choices! I will NEVER order from China Wok EVER again! Order took 2 hours to be delivered from throggs neck to country club. When food arrived it was ice cold. I called for a refund and they wanted me to drive there to bring the food back or wait 2-3 hours for their driver to come back here. The males who answer the phone are rude and argumentative. They chronically get the orders wrong and want to say it was your fault, I agree it was my fault for ordering from this place. Their attitude is one customer doesn't mean anything but sooner or later they will understand that each customer should be treated with respect. Just stopped for an appetizer, and after waiting for 15 minutes for it to cook, it was till soggy. But, that's not what got me writing this review. What does have me writing this review is the fictions taxes that they are charging. The menu will show you one price, then they will charge you 50 cents extra calling it tax. 50 cents is nothing, but doing this through out the day to many customers coming in makes it a profitable fraud that's not being reported. If the receipt showed an itemized tax charge, I would have no quarrel. There are no signs nor is it anywhere writing that taxes are charged. These people are committing tax fraud ladies and gentlemen. Be careful! I just ordered food which I do on a regular basis. When I opened my combination plate it was a lot less then normal. So I called in to see what was happening and to my surprise the female manager was very rude. She hung the phone up on me mid conversation then when I called back she refused to get back on the phone with me. I was a frequent customer who ordered at least once a week. I have been ordering from this restaurant for roughly 5 months. It wasn't until today that I encountered an issue with the manager. She had the wrong contact information for me and although I called when my order was supposed to be delivered, that was not sufficient. I recently moved to Throggs Neck from the South Bronx. In the South Bronx, good Chinese food in easy to come by. The best Chinese food pretty much comes from the dirtiest places. With that said, this place is a little too clean (read between the lines). The food is decent, but they add way too much oil to their food. Also, the food is extremely overpriced. In the South Bronx, Chicken Wings w/ French Fries costs $3.00. This place almost triples the cost. On the bright side, the customer service is great. It's a decent place. China Wok is by far my favorite chinese food in all of Throgs Neck. I have people that like to argue that Linda's also on E. Tremont is better but I have to say they are wrong. I usually order delivery and 90% of the time they come within 30 minutes from the time I order. I always order the lunch special and my favorite is boneless spare rib with white rice with a side of wonton soup. Boneless spare ribs are absolutely amazing. I turned so many of my co workers onto it and now we have like 10 people ordering it at least 3 times a week. read more

Literally waited 2 hours for my meal and then the woman has the audacity to say on weekdays it's an hour and a half wait when on Grubhub they have the wait time at 75 mins. Having a whole attitude with the customer. I've worked with those systems before and they go up to 120 mins so the fact that, not only did they fail to quote the proper time, they did not have the courtesy to even call and say it would be longer is beyond me. Grubhub customer care even called to cancel and they did not answer. I walked to another Chinese spot and they got my food ready in 15 mins, and it was delicious. The fried rice tasted awful and the dumplings made me so sick...I should have followed my instincts when I cut into the dumplings the meat didn't look like pork. For some reason, the guy always thinks I'm saying Chicken, and hes been making Chicken and Broccoli for me... I went today and order my usual, and I got Chicken. Went back, the guy said I said Chicken. And I said no, and he said okay, that will be 2 dollars more then... The food actually was rushed... The Shrimp was not Juicy, or cooked well.
