This restaurant, as the name suggests, serves Chinese Halal food. I went there recently and enjoyed their cuisine. Of course, being Halal, there is no pork on the menu, but they do have lamb, lots of delicious lamb! Our evening started with delicious Lamb Skewers and Garlic Beef. Delicious start. Next up, was Handmade Noodles with Lamb, a dish with Beef Dumplings and Lamb Dumplings, Barbecue Taiwan Cabbage, and Pan-Fried Bread. Finally, our last dish was BBQ Lamb Ribs. I've been coming here for years. The owner is super humble and everything here is halal. I had the pan fried lamb dumplings they were so juicy and perfect heat combination with the chilly sauce. The general tao chicken was crispy and the sauce was not too sweet, the sirloin beef melts in your mouth and has the perfect spice to it. Great restaurant for lamb! Came on a weekday for dinner and it wasn't busy at all. Service was fairly quick as well. Prices overall are not bad, and many dishes are great for sharing! They have a really large variety of lamb dishes (and non-lamb dishes) and they're all pretty tasty! The gamey taste is not very strong, the spices are also not too spicy as well--great for those who don't want an overwhelmingly strong lamb and cumin taste. This is definitely not the best lamb or BBQ place I've tried, but it's got something for everyone. The soup I was very surprised at, it was a smaller size that we ordered for 2, but it felt like it could be for 4. I used to go to this restaurant frequently prior to the pandemic, since this is was a great place for some authentic Northern Chinese Halal food, but then moved out of the city for a few years, and haven't been to the restaurant again until recently.  I was looking for a light dinner, and ordered a couple of cold appetizers and BBQ dishes. Unfortunately, I felt the quality of the food had gone down a bit, and had mixed feelings on the dishes ordered.  - Garlic Cucumber - this was surprisingly bland except for a slight garlic taste. Adding some chili oil helped make this more flavourful. - Lotus Root with Chili Sauce - a well flavoured dish, with a tiny kick from the chilies.  - BBQ Beef Skewers - these were undercooked, and lacked any seasoning - BBQ Potato - strangely my favourite dish this visit. It was well flavored, and had a light crisp on some of the edges - Fried Cumin Lamb - the portion was a bit smaller compared to the other times I've visited in the past, and thee meat was a bit dry The restaurant itself has a bright airy feel, with plenty of seating, and can accommodate large groups. The staff is friendly, and the service is overall average. Because the restaurant is part of a plaza, there's plenty of free outdoor parking. This restaurant has a lot of classic Chinese halal dishes but most importantly we tried was the whole lamb roast. As you can see in the picture we had a large group and ordered ahead of time. As it takes a whole day for this restaurant to prepare it. The dish itself is delicious however I would say you definitely need to make sure you order a compliment of dishes to try and balance out the lamb. As their name suggests, they do Chinese Muslim food. Was here in 2020 and the food was good. Revisited this place in late 2021 but the quality had fallen. BBQ lamb skewers were better the last time. This time the meat was not that good quality (there was some tendon) & tasted too mild. House style cold noodle had ok noodles (could be more slippery). The sauce tasted ok. There was no tofu like in the picture. Vermicelli soup with beef (guilin noodles) was a bit diluted & didn't have preserved vegetables (as guilin style is meant to have). Asked for it to be less spicy; had a bit of a numbing spicy taste & was bland overall. Fried tofu with house style sauce: Tofu was quite silky yet did not break. The sauce was ok: just a spicy sauce. Crispy tofu bits were nice. You get a 5% cash discount. The place is pretty cheap. read more

This is our second time back since the Covid break and though they were not terrible, they were so-so but no longer our go-to place for this type of food. They were 5/5 before. I gave them the benefit of the doubt for the cold skewers, slow service since I came the first day of the COVID opening. After a mth of working things out the food and service is better but not as good as before the Covid shutdown. And there was a new issue: the bowls on both our hand pulled noodles with lamb had a strong smell of laundry detergent. Such as shame. Hopefully they sort things out. read more

If you are ever in the mood for lamb, this place has LOTS of options!! However i didn't get any lamb dishes so i can't tell you how they are. For the dishes that my friend and i ordered, i thought they were ok. A bit on the oily side. The boiled chicken was a bit lean with not much meat. It was covered by a bit of sauce to give it flavor. The beef tripe dish was spicy, but i prefer chinese dimsum beef tripe. The egg plant with fish flavor is a bit of a strange one. There's no fish in the entree, and no fish flavor either.... more like they used pork oil to cook because that's all i could taste. We also orfered cabbage on skewers. It was ok. Service was ok. We have come here many times in the past. We have always enjoyed their stir fry but keep in mind everything is on the oily side. This time we ordered the hot and sour soup, stir fried beef noodle and sour cabbage fish. Everything tasted great, the hot and sour soup was nothing amazing but what stood out was the stir fried noodle. The noodle was perfectly soft but was not mushy and very tasty. Came here for my birthday a few weeks ago, was not disappointed at all! Let me just start with the sizzling beef that they served which was soft and tender at the bite and with enough sauce to make it feel like love at first bite. The cumin diced chicken was also especially good as it provided the right combination of crisp and juiciness in each bite. The only thing that was off was that the sizzling plate wasn't as "sizzling" as it usually is and that turned it down a notch for me, the fact that they didn't have any liangpi for the second time in a row was also a letdown. I have to admit that I never been to the Old location of Chinese Beef & Lam House... This place used to be a AYCE Japanese/Thai restaurant. Gone was the old sushi bar and all the Japanese decoration but the lay out of the restaurant is really similar. Lunch Specials from $5.99 till 4:30 pm on weekday is a sweet deal... Portion wise just perfect without leaving me wanting to have a second lunch! Hand Made Beef Noodle Soup ($5.99) was quite savory, the noodle cooked al dente with a good bite. This restaurant is located at Leslie and Finch. It is halal so it's quite busy! We went here for a family dinner and ordered: Hot and sour soup - sooooo good! It was spicy which we all loved Hand pulled noodles with beef - the noodles were amazing and you can tell they make them on site and the beef was pretty good too Chicken fried rice - salty AF not sure if it was accidently had salt put it twice but it wasn't good at all General tsao chicken - yum! But a lot of the pieces I had were just batter and no chicken in it at all Overall, it was alright. Would I come again? I like they make picture for each of their dishes so people can just point at the pictures to order. Also the photos make all the dishes so attractive. The specialty is the lamb and beef dishes. I was craving for the soup made with lamb and pieces of organs. It was my home town flavour. I had it and it was to die for. We also ordered a dry hot pot spicy lamb but it came in a plate not in a hot pot. I hate the dish was changed without a notice to the customer. Also the dry pot dishes are normally relatively pricey than other the plate dishes. That's a bit disappointing. The third dish was stir fried spicy pieces of lamb organs. It was not spicy as indicated in the menu with 3 chilis. I don't know why they have the menu for. The two out of three dishes were totally different from the photos on the menu. Came here on a wednesday night at 9:30pm . Ive never bothered to go in but my friend suggested their lamb soup which I did and it was pretty darn good. Like the other reviews, it is quite oily but thats the style of food espeically the dishes that are stir fried (chau). Service was good since we were the only table there so late. Just really like all the food here so want to give it 5* although sometimes some of the dishes are inconsistent..sometimes you gotta tell the waiter or waitress to remake it sometimes(like the noodles are under/overcooked) but I hope one day they will learn and have it consistent and perfect all the time. I really want to give this restaurant no star. Huge disappointment on all the dishes. I was looking forward to try the House Hand Made Noodle Soup with Lamb but the soup was bland, no flavour at all! The handmade noodles were too thick. Also had the special lamb fried rice and it was super salty. Can't even take a second bite at it. We end up didn't finish any of the food and left. So I am a big big fan of lamb skewer, and lamb related dishes. Usually I went to the Chinese Skewer in Downtown to satisfy my big belly but this time, I had some thing to do at North York so I thought I should eat some new place. And then here I was. This Restaurant located in a small Chinese commercial place (Btw the place also have very good Congee House but that is another topic). It is not that hard to find the restaurant but parking is a huge pain, they have bunch of restaurant and other commercial spot so if you are unlucky, you need to park somewhere a little bit further. Food was good actually. I ordered some skewers but lamb definitely my most favorite, seasoning was the BOMB. The sesame lamb ribs has garlic soy sauce to dip in and it was a huge boost to the crunchy lamb (and sauce went good with a hot bowl of rice too ahaha). Another thing to mention is the deep fried lamb ribs (not sure if the name is correct). They deep fried it with garlic and pepper, crunchy to bite and flavorful. Very suitable to eat with rice. Service was fast, only waited for like 10-15min for the food ~ The price was reasonable too, I thought should be a little bit pricey but compare to other Chinese Restaurants, It was okay. My famous is the lamb dumplings and lamb skewers - you can never go wrong with those! The place was quite nice and service was really great. I was there on a Sunday night so it was fairly empty. This place is great for lamb lovers like me. So many different types of lamb dishes, most of them delicious. We ordered a few dishes, all containing lamb. The ones that I remember: -lamb soup: I didn't like this one actually. Seemed like they added some flavor to try to mask the gaminess, but I didn't really like that flavor. When I order a lamb product, I want the gaminess! -lamb dumplings were excellent. Among the best that I've had -had a lamb noodle dish that was the special of the day. This was also really good. In an effort to expand my go-to restaurant repertoire, i ended up at Chinese Halal Restaurant with the wife after a long day's work. There were a few typical Chinese dishes on the menu (oh you know... sweet and sour pork, fried rice), but I was pleasantly surprised to find a lot of Northern style Chinese dishes as well. Picking what to order took slightly longer than usual but we ended up choosing BBQ Lamb Skewers, Szechuan Style Cold Noodles, Cumin Chicken and Black Pepper Beef Tablets with Garlic. First off, the Lamb Skewers. They were just alright - tender and pretty mild in taste but the two skewers we got were a bit on the overly fatty side. They're not far off from the skewers you get at the night market, just without the massive crowds. Out of the four dishes, the Szechuan Style Cold Noodles was my favourite. They're not exactly noodles - moreso clear pieces of jello(?) doused in a hot chilli oil. That chilli oil is packed with flavour and is the perfect pair with the noodles. Sprinkled peanuts finish off the dish. Tasty, and decently priced. The Cumin Chicken was crispy - almost had a curry-like flavour to them. Overall it tasted good. My only complaint with this dish was the ratio of chicken to onions and peppers. Felt like I ordered veggies with a side of chicken. The beef in this last dish was alright. The sauce made the beef felt like there was a carmellized crust of sugar - really, and unusually sweet. And my oh my did I not expect the amount of garlic in this dish at all.... Makes me wonder how much garlic they go through each day... If the garlic was cooked down and turned crispy, I would be all over this. Instead, when I bit into it, it felt undercooked. Superb! We came here for the first time to try their lamb skewers after hearing/reading great reviews about this restaurant. We also ordered a side of fried rice and black pepper beef garlic. The lamb was very soft and marinated in delicious spices which wasn't overpowering at all. I usually don't eat lamb as much because I'm not a fan of the gamey taste, but the lamb skewers did not taste gamey at all which was great. The black pepper beef garlic was literally out of this world. Upon first bite we fell in love! The beef was tender with sweet and garlic flavours which gave the dish a nice balance. We especially loved the whole garlic cloves that were cooked with the beef.
