The restaurant is always clean and the servers are all friendly. You can order amazing ceviches, causas, seco de cordero, milanesas, papa a la Huancaina, choris a la chalaca or anything else and it's always good and authentic. I've gone to this location a couple of times alreadt throughout the years, i asked for the same plate i always asked for (the fettuccini two pastas with steak) last time i went they put chunks of steak this time it looked like thin slices of steak and they barely put any. Not to mention they forgot our breaded milanesa we ordered for our kids and brought it one everyone was halfway done eating. Also, THEY ARE EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. Not worth it. Visited a few days ago, first time. They are open for dine-in with restrictions. You must wear mask at all time except while eating. Waitress was welcoming, enforced covid restrictions and kept her distance. They also do not allow over crowding. We ordered the Pollo a la Brasa and Aji de Gallina, the food portion was huge, of great quality and delicious. Its worth being patient as they cook your food to order. For dessert we tried the Leche Asada and Alfajores, they were bomb! Will return soon. read more

The food here is amazing !!! I've had the lomo Saltado, and the fried calamari it's sooooo good! They cook the meat to perfection. I've came here about 3 times already & I have to say it's the best Peruvian I've ever Had. The pasta with steak is also good, I cannot remember the name at the moment but it was also very yummy. I'm confident that anything you have here will taste great. The service is good too, the waiters are very kind. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the parking is really small and limited. If you park there someone either parks in front or back of you, and if they have to leave they ask if you can move your car. But other then that, amazing food & service. read more

Idk why this place only has 3 1/2 stars it's amazing! Me and my wifey love this place. Amazing Peruvian food! We order the lomo saltado or pollo saltado. It comes with rice veggies and yuca fries! The sauce they add is amazing as well. I really recommend coming here. Only downside is the parking it sucks so bad. It only has like 4 to 5 damn parking spots lol read more

Take this as the honest review. Probably the bad reviews for this restaurant, they haven't tried original Peruvian food. In the valley is hard to find a place that serves original Peruvian food. This is what you should expect from Chios: 1. Great food. This is always! 2. Parking is complicated, but don't suffer park in Stagg, plenty of parking. 3. If the restaurant is full, yes it will take some time, but trust me food would be delicious. 4. The staff is friendly and polite. 5. Their Tiradito is the best I have ever tried. It took them 10 mins fir someone to acknowledge us after sitting us and about 45 minutes to bring our food, at least all came at once unlike other tables around us. The service is subpar but the food was flavorful, it's reasonably priced, wine and beer options are available; overall I enjoyed my meal (minus the frozen French fries). If you're looking for something different and local to Van Nuys/Lake Balboa check this place out. I sat outside with the heat lamps but there is an indoor area with plenty of tables to dine in. Appetizer (photo) is a good mix of fried fish (octopus, calamari, etc) and the plantains were sweet so the dip wasn't needed. Just ate here tonight and have been meaning to pay a visit for a while. I read a few less than satisfied reviews, but still decided to proceed... and am glad I did. Service was good and the food was all great. The exterior and interior is nice and clean. Started off with the Quinoa Salad which was very tasty with its balsamic dressing and Avocado. Next was Grilled Chicken Breast with two sides - Fries and Plantains. Both sides were really tasty and generous sized as was the Chicken which had a really nice grilled seasoned flavor. The Lomo Saltado was great. Not salty like my previous eats of it. Loved the sauce and Rice which by itself had a great flavor. I wish there was a Lil more Beef. Love this Peruvian restaurant. You guys have restored my faith is this dish. I have had plenty of lomo saltado dishes before and this is by far the best that I've ever had. The meat is so flavorful and easy to chew. The rice and potatoes have their own flavor on there own and even more amazing together. Had a horrible experience at this location, service was really bad they had 3 waitresses and about 8 tables and took forever for them to come to the table and when asked something they would either forget or come back like 15 minutes later. The food took about 45 minutes to come to our table and it was not good. Ordered a saltado de camarones it was so salty and their Aji verde tasted like water and cilantro. We were about to walk out when the food arrived my husband didn't eat at all and it was overall all bad we also saw 2 other tables complaining. would not recommend or come back. I support ALL Peruvian restaurants...but this franchise just doesn't hit the spot. I'll start with the positive aspects: The Lomo Saltado juice is savory and the grilled octopus (pulpo a la parilla) is charred just right. However, the Papa a la Huancaina yellow sauce is bland and flavorless. I commend Chef Dante Balarezo for being an entrepreneur and franchising all over the valley, but he may need better sous chefs in the kitchen. I love Peruvian food and look for places to eat when traveling. Happened to be close so decided to give it a try. I got there right before closing but they served me and were happy to do it. It is a small, local place but everyone seemed nice. I got the sampler to give everything a try. All was very good and glad I go it. Dined at this location for the first time yesterday. I hoped it would be as good as the Van Nuys Bl. location but with less wait. The food and service were less than expected. Parking is limited. They have a small lot with maybe 8 spots that have 4 cars stacked on 4 cars. Street parking along Sepulveda is limited because there are tons of other businesses around. We found parking in the residential area along Stagg. We were told to sit at a table that still had the check from the previous party, and a sauce. The table wasn't wiped yet. The server took our drink order then came back in about 5 minutes to wipe the table. It took another 5 minutes for the drinks, but we reminded the server who seemed to have forgotten. We had a pitcher of maracuya and 1 ice water. The maracuya is very tasty! We ordered the Chio's grill for 2. They asked if we wanted medium, wedium well, or well done. We asked for medium. The receipt even said medium. The beef hearts and 2 steaks were all well done, dry and tough. We didn't ask for them to be redone because we didn't have time to wait. We chose beans and white rice for the sides and both were good. The half chicken tasted good but could have been more moist. The menu description for the dish says that a selection of sauces is included. They didn't bring them. We asked the server who said sauces weren't included. We had a bit of back and forth with her, but she finally brought us 4 different sauces at no extra charge. They were pretty tasty. After that, the server never came back to check on us. About 10 minutes before we were done eating, our server walked out of the door with her belongings, got in a car and drove off. So, we went to the front to pay and ask for a to-go box. The overall experience was really a 2.5. The overdone meat and lack of attentiveness by the server were a disappointment. I know this place has good recipes and could easily have made this a 5-star experience, for which we would have tipped more generously. The whole time, I didn't see anyone on the floor who seemed to be in charge, and I assume this is why the Sepulveda location falls short of the Van Nuys Bl. standards. read more

Four workers and I had no one give me a menu for 5 minutes- I just got up and got the menu myself. Ordered arroz con mariscos. A classic favorite when I lived in Peru. Overall, I enjoyed the meal- it was a good balance and it even included a leche de Tigre type of liquid (buenissima). I was looking at their menu and they had their fried plantains all over it- for catering, in the cover photo- I couldn't resist. I ordered the plantains and they came out very charred. It was difficult to chew and to break with my utensils. Luckily the server checked in and I told her it's a bit black and embarrassed, she just took the plate and returned later with caramel brown plantains. Sadly, I was already full by the time the plantains arrived. Overall, I think my experience could have been better with better staff. (I'm the only one here with 4 waitresses/servers). The food has been pleasant but the fried plantains do not live up to its hype. read more

Giving this place 5 stars. It was my first time trying this place. Food was delicious! Great quality, so happy to have a Peruvian restaurant so close. Next time I will actually be dining in the restaurant. I placed an order threw yelp24 and my overall delivery experience was great, only downside would be the wait time for delivery. Fan of food...not a fan of staff. tried calling in for a food order to pick up. rang rang rang. The middle-aged woman who eventually picked up the phone actually dropped the phone on a loud surface and then hung up. I called back. rang and rang. No pickup. Went in person to place order. Waited and waited by the register. Finally was able to place the order by standing by the register. Waited 45 minutes for food to be ready by the register. I sat at a dirty table by the register for a good 20 minutes until a male employee finished his break on the patio. While waiting, the phone was ringing and ringing non-stop. After the wait for our food, was told by a waitress "next time call". We let her know we have been trying. She walked away with no response. The staff made this a poor experience. They didn't offer a seat while waiting. Could have been due to several dirty tables filled with dirty plates from past guests and poor staff break schedule.. great food but just won't go again. service has gone down since they have been expanding locations locally. read more
