Had a live roach in my food. I used to love chipotle and eat it constantly. December 6th of 2016 I ate at this one and while I was mid-third bite a cockroach crawled out of the rice in the burrito and up my face. I immediately got my money back from the manager after showing them the roach. I would not recommend eating here unless you don't mind bugs. read more

I generally like these places a lot. For a chain, it's usually about as good quality as you could ask for at the price. This particular location, however, is terrible. If you go in person, quality is questionable at best by even chipotle standards. Whatever you do though, don't order delivery from this place via DoorDash or any other similar service. As convenient as that is I have stopped doing it entirely due to constant problems with missing items, incorrect items, arriving stone cold etc. Just a terribly run chipotle franchise. Normally I'm a fan of chain Mexican fast-food restaurants due to convenience and speed. Not in Chapel Hill. Not on Franklin Street. Why settle for Americanized Burritos with white rice, when you have legitimate choices so close by? Carrburritos is a local joint 5 minutes from downtown Chapel Hill and serves one of the best burritos I have ever had. If you want to stay on Franklin Street, try Cosmic Cantina - at least it's authentic Mexican. Both options have more flavor, character, and personality than your standard, corporate Chipotle. read more

Chipotle is hands-down my favorite place to eat. Just a quirky personal preference dating back many years and can translate to just about any Chipotle location. After traveling 30 minutes to Raleigh to enjoy my tacos (previously the closest location) I was ecstatic to learn of the planned opening of a Chapel Hill franchise. I always order the crunchy chicken tacos with mild and corn salsa, sour cream, cheese, and lettuce. Sometimes I splurge for chips and guac, which is phenomenal. I prefer Chipotle to other similar chain restaurants because the food tastes much more fresh. The only negative to this location is that parking can be a real problem. However, I have always been patient and waited my turn for tasty goodness. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a parking spot. And it's well worth the wait! A++++ read more

Seems understaffed at night... there were two guys, and they seemed particularly rushed. That being said, it's Chipotle. The burritos still a splode (they're just not that good at wrapping them in a way that will allow for the burrito to keep its consistency throughout the meal. I'll admit it. I'll come out of the closet. I'm a fan of Chipotle. Its a little taste of home and I actually enjoy it. I think the reason is the cilantro-lime rice that they have - almost anything with lime auto-magically tastes better to me. I'm not ashamed to say it. This particular location isn't as good as the other ones I've been to - the meat is a little fattier, the pico de gallo is not as spicy, and the rice seems stickier. Overall, though, it does taste the same. I like the spices better than I like the ones at Carrburrito. There. I said it. Can I also just note - there is definitely a difference in how the chain says what is on the menu? Pico de Gallo = Fresh Tomatoes? Really? And I think pulled pork = Barbacoa. I guess they're taking a page out of their parent company's book on that one. read more

I love this chain. Just NOT this location. Staff seems to be too interested in talking to their friends in front of and behind the counter than to keep their mind on business at hand. After having my usual Chipotle conversation about my order ( I want the vegetarian burrito with pintos, and yes, I know those beans are cooked with meat,) and confirming that, the employee made the burrito with black beans instead, and left out one of the main ingredients (guacamole: included on the vegetarian item) which left it tasting dry and un seasoned. Dudes. It's a sandwich shop at it's core! How difficult is this stuff, if you PAY ATTENTION and stop trying to talk up chicks while you make my food? Utterly avoidable, and easily forgotten out of the way restaurant, when the Chipotle store in Durham is always near-perfection. I Will be back to Chipotle, just not this one. read more

I will admit right now that i am a chipotle fan. probably my favorite fast casual food chain. fresh, flavorful, and relatively cheap. I always order the same thing: burrito bowl with barbacoa. Or, when I'm poor (which happens a lot), I'll stick to the vegetarian bowl. Either way, I leave super satisfied. The workers are also very accommodating and will give you whatever you like, however you like. The dining space is always clean as well. Good job, Chipotle! You make me happy. The only thing that I WILL dock a star for is that this location on Franklin has terrible parking. There are only like 7-8 spots and so be prepared to wait a while for a spot, or park in the community lot and pay. :/ read more

Well, I mean, I love chipotle.. Their quality of meat, their prices, their delicious portions. What's there not to love about it? Having said that, I guess all I can do is rate the venue. The location is right on Franklin Street, but it is a couple blocks' walk from Columbia. Of course, this is worth is all day everyday for me, and I would much rather walk 3 blocks and get Chipotle than walk 0 blocks and get Qdoba. The inside is your typical Chipotle, plenty of seating inside. The parking lot is rather small, but if you've lived here a while, you know that that is to be expected from any restaurant on Franklin St. Overall, this is chipotle, I had no complaints, and chipotle is delicious so I give it 4 stars. It's Chipotle - that in itself should be an adequate description. That being said, I'm not as big of a fan of Chipotle as all my peers who go on a weekly basis seem to be. I was once one of them - Chipotle was a go-to restaurant I could eat at almost every day. Now, the taste is acceptable but monotonous enough to me after the first several bites that I definitely have to spice it up with extra corn salsa and tabasco sauce. Also, $3.25 for a paper bag of chips and small cup of guacamole is ridiculous. Relative to other Chipotle restaurants, this one gives smaller portions. Service and environment are pretty standard; nothing stellar and nothing abysmal, except for the parking lot. The parking lot is abysmal. Overall, Chipotle is decent for sure, but I'm probably not going to come here often unless I'm tugged here by my Chipotle-obsessed friends. read more

I can't believe my first review on yelp is a bad one and for a fast casual restaurant that I like. Food quality is standard, so that's not what I'm here to talk about. I order via the chipotle app. Ordered 1/2 steak 1/2 chicken and I paid an extra $3.15 for extra meat. I should have gotten 1 serving of steak and 1 serving of chicken. Simple math. What I received is half the serving of chicken. No steak at all. I feel cheated and this isn't the first time. I even tried calling but the number on the receipt or on Yelp doesn't work. Orders placed through the app used to be correct, but lately this has been happening frequently and someone is responsible for these mistakes. I don't want to have to order in person every time and monitor every scoop. Management needs to fix this or no one will be ordering through the app. Trust is built with customers overtime and it can collapse faster than a stack of jenga blocks when the wrong move is taken. My husband & I went to this location for some quick take out. We went more than an hour before closing and were already running out of ingredients. At first it was the roasted veggies (and they said they were completely out), there was a 4 minute wait for chicken, they were out of the mild salsa & there was a 10 minute wait for corn salsa. Chipotle, what would I do without you? I love burritos, especially tasty burritos, and you fit the bill. I go here before I go to Carrburritos... I KNOW!!! But I can't help myself. Something about Chipotle is just perfect. I love getting the onions and green peppers in my burrito. I love their chicken, it's not too dry, it's nicely flavored. I only wish they had better parking and were open later, WHY DO YOU NOT STAY OPEN TILL 2??? They can get kind of crazy busy in there, but I normally get my food to go anyway. The burrito? It's HUGE. And I mean, save some for later 2 meals kind of huge. They don't charge for sour cream or shredded lettuce or the onions and peppers. Their corn salsa makes me a happy happy girl. I don't often get chips with my meal, but like like the lime flavor(do they still do that now?) The only drawbacks of this location are the parking and closing time. How to get bang for your back? Easy - go to Chipotle. They offer large portions for very good prices, fresh veggies, and a simple layout within the restaruant! Their guac is also really good. At this specific location, people are friendly, always jam-pack bowls with veggies and meat (unlike other Chipotles I've been to), and there are plenty of tables/seats. It's also very convenient that there is a parking lot outside. I always get a bowl and ask for a tortilla on the side, which is basically a meal and a half. read more

The least she could have done was say she'll be right with us. - Not sure what it was, but their food tasted saltier. I finally decided to give this Chipotle another chance after having such horrible customer service and food quality in the past. It has definitely improved, but it is still alright at best. Location and convenience is the best thing about this place. I had the chicken burrito bowl and the chicken was a bit overcooked. However, everything else was fine. Fast food burritos in the tradition of Moe's or Salas Fresh. I had the Carnitas Burrito which was really nicely seasoned. They have 4 or 5 different salsas which you can mix and match. Pros - All food is cooked fresh on site. No extra charges for extra items on your burrito. Nice, clean place. Cons - Chips cost extra. Not exceptionally kid friendly - no specific kid's menu. First time last Time I went here hoping for good food similar to moes however I was disappointed to find I get half the portion for 25% higher prices. While the burrito was not terrible, I got a bag of chips which contained at most 10 chips to "feed 2". A bigger rip off than the amount of air they put in lays. You get a lot of food for the price, and you don't feel like punching someone in the face for screaming, "Hi, welcome to Moes!" The decor is kinda futuristic, but with an old-timey feel. Wow-I always thought Chipotle was all that and a bag of chips. They were the first build your own burrito place (that I know of) in Colorado and it was all the rage. Seriously, before it came to Fort Collins, we drove to Denver to check the first one out in 1993. I think I was feeling nostalgic and went to the one here in Chapel Hill and it isn't as good as I remembered. Maybe the novelty has worn off or I've had so much better since then. I think the idea is great but really most of the components are quite seasonless. The beans were dry and the whole experience was just bland. Despite being a franchise, I had never been here before. I liked how you could choose your own ingredients similar to subway. I ordered an ordinary chicken burrito with an extraordinary taste. I also enjoy places that play music as you eat. They even played old school Ma$e from the Badboy, shiny-jacket, late 90s era, for anyone who knows what I'm talking about. I heard they close at 10PM. Chipotle is always a reliable, go-to, for a quick and good gluten free lunch. You can get anything on the menu, as long as it's not in a flour tortilla. The food here is consistently good, my only issue is that unless you visit at 3PM, you had better not be driving here. There's almost zero parking. I believe there 5 spaces along the one side of the building, no parking on the other side, no parking in front, and you can use the three spaces in the back because someone always blocks them in. Ugh... and, of course this is Chapel Hill, which means there's no street parking available during peak times (like lunch time) and the town tows if you try to park in the lots across the street or next to Chipotle because they are only for people visiting the businesses connected to them... great. In fact, the only public lot you can park in (and pay for) is three blocks up and one block up from the restaurant... and that is undersized to handle the lunch time and evening crowds as well. To some things up... great food and I've never had trouble with the service, but unless you're going in the mid-afternoon, you'd better be on foot. read more
