From day one we were upfront about what we wanted for our wedding reception. We had a micro, destination wedding with what ended up being less than 20 people total. We made it very clear from the beginning about my onion allergy and about the food we required for our menu. We were told things could be made from scratch without onion. It had also been noted all over our invoice. My allergy was the primary topic of conversation throughout the entirety of our communication with A Fresh Connection. Yet, the day of our reception they asked who exactly had the allergy... Key elements were missing from the salad and a special side was left off my plate. We had to ask someone to get Chef Lisa for us so we could ask why. Nothing had been disclosed to us before our wedding reception. She proceeded to tell us there were trace amounts of onion in the side. I had to ask her to bring it over anyway. I took a chance in eating just a little bit so I could enjoy the menu we had established. I didn't understand how such a mistake could be made when we were so direct about my allergy and told things could be made from scratch. For example, the mini spanakopita appetizer had been made without onion, so why wouldn't the same be applied to the rest of the meal? We found out the onion element applied to one missing ingredient from the salad. The other missing elements had simply been forgotten. Even worse, entrees were served cold, which should have never happened. Our bartender Matt also did not serve the non-alcoholic beverages for our guests who could not have alcohol. At the end of the night, Matt made his way around the room and very abruptly started tossing things in the trash. My husband actually had to say something to him to try and get him to stop. Two important, religious related boxes went missing. Both were important, but one in particular had been customized to house our religious item, so we've been looking for it ever since. Matt also bickered with my husband how none of the chairs had to be folded and put on top of the tables. Yet, that's what the venue coordinator had told my husband during the walk through. We ended up having to do it ourselves because Matt just left without telling us. All of the staff belonging to A Fresh Connection left without a word or even telling us where the leftovers were. Our experience was extremely bittersweet.

The bartender was always polite too. 3) food: this particular evening in normal buffet style it was laid out on tables with steaming pans to keep items hot. Neat and tidy well maintained area for food. Their was crispy salad, warm bread, buttery beans, hot and cheesy lasagna, and decadent chocolate dessert. 4) music: their was a DJ who did a great job and the music resonated well. Plenty of dancing and silliness. 5)parking: I had no issues with parking even when arriving late to the event. I recently worked a shift through a staffing agency to work a Christmas party on behalf of this company, There are many things I could add to this such as how food is handled, how sanitary the operation is etc, but I will focus on the treatment of workers. I'm someone who has worked in the hospitality industry for 15+ years. In all of my time, I have been extremely fair with tip pooling , treating others respectfully etc. What I experienced With this company is the first time I've seen something like this. Working a bartending shift, through the night we received some tips (very minimal amount per a person, maybe $1 average for a 3 hour shift and everyone ordering multiple drinks). About mid shift, the manager on site came behind the bar and grabbed the tip jar we were using. The manager then advised our cash was ready to be returned at our convenience as they had counted and disbursed it. When I returned to the tip pool (left on the counter randomly in a kitchen) roughly 50% of the money was gone. In speaking with another staff member on site, they advised that working with the same company, they have experienced selling drinks via credit card machine, ringing in $500+ of credit card tips, and never receiving any of them......I'm astounded this person returned to work for them. This kind of behavior pretty much speaks for itself. On the event invoice, there various fees for service staff on site, which the staff does not receive at all. I've worked at many other catering facilities in the area and in all of my time have never experienced something like this. A few tips when planning your next party: -Ask for proof that service fees and tips go to the employees working the event. -In the case that a company admits to them not going to the employees, if you plan on tipping employees separately, do it in cash, do it in person, and give the money to the individual(not one individual to disburse).
