The hype of this dessert chain is overrated. Walking in at around 9 pm, there was a huge line up of people. The decor I thought was identical to Juliette & Chocolate (which i think is more elegant and perfect in size). The menu was simple but considering we didn't have much time to order- I had to be quick. The wait wasn't long. The cashier wasn't helpful in distinguishing flavors as the menu said the Cotton Candy coated ice cream came with a surprise flavor. She looked at me in confusion as if I had no idea what I was talking about. Between my friend & I, we ordered 2 baby cones- Cotton Candy & Vanilla & Maple, a regular smore cone that came out to 15$ with tax. The wait to get our ice cream was long and disorganized. There was at least 6 people working the counter. There was no numbering system to keep track of people in line. Basically they scream out your name and you have to be lucky enough to hear your name. Disastrous! The ice cream was pretty good though and beautifully decorated with cotton candy, a maple cookie and marshmallow- cute as ever!! I liked that the chocolate coating prevented the ice cream from melting and running down my fingers. It would have been nice to be given ice cream holders. The seating area was crowded and overwhelming with kids. I would stick to the Juliette & Chocolat in the square for dessert!

Mini cookie dough milk chocolate creation

I've been to this Dix30 location three times. The first time, the line was so long I left. I endured the line the next two times - they bring around samples of chocolate while you wait. The soft serve vanilla ice cream itself is pretty bland but creamy. You can choose between 4 flavours; vanilla, chocolate, maple and strawberry. I've also tried maple and it's yummy. Their dips are nothing amazing - very thick and on the sweet side. Their selection is lacking compared to La Diperie. Last time, I chose the cookie dough chocolate creation and it was pretty good but too sweet. Their sizes are completely off so a mini is more than enough for me (which is around $5-6). Now for the bad stuff: their ordering/waiting line system is ridiculous. They don't let people know that there's a line for paying (you pay first), and a line to wait to get your ice cream. Because everyone gets their soft serves dipped, the line can get pretty long, especially at around 9-10pm. I literally had to take charge and tell people where to stand! I hope it's not like that in all of their locations...

I have already reviewed the Boul. Cousineau location - this is the one for Dix30. In general, I do love Chocolat Favoris and their great concept & variety. It is very impressive how they are coming up with innovative new ideas such as the 'chouchou's' and the disproportionate ice cream cones (forgot the name) that have marshmallows and other large delights stuck to them. After trying 'La Diperie' (which came before Chocolat Favoris and has the same concept) though it may not be as fancy and strong as the whole Quebec 'artisanal' brand, I preferred the ice cream and flavours there. It is definitely worth visiting at least once. I find however, the Dix30 location is way too crowded - we were there at around 11pm last Friday and the queue was 'til outside! It was absolute mayhem... I waited for about 10 minutes and the line didn't move at all so we left. I guess with it being the holidays right now, the place was just very overcrowded with kids and families. Think I will be sticking to the Cousineau location.

Decided to bring my bff's kid out for some ice cream and he chose this place cause he said " I love the blue ice cream". I wasn't sure was this entailed but I found out soon enough! We waited in line which was a crazy wait but understandable as this spot seems to be the only one anywhere near offering ice cream; it's also located in the Dix30 complex which is huge, with many shops and a crazy big movie theatre. We placed our order: choose your cone size, choose your dip, proceed to another line to watch your cone being made . The cones are huge! Even for a small cone, the portion was big. I got the dark chocolate dip which was surprisingly still sweet. The kid got this neon blue cone with cotton candy topping, and although it was a mini, he never finished it. I took a taste and was horrified! Wayyy too sweet! Overall, I didn't enjoy my ice cream cone, mostly cause I found the dip too sweet and the concept a little unoriginal although I must say that, unlike its rival, the Diperie, the chocolate seems of better quality. I prefer straight up flavoured ice cream rather than plain vanilla dipped in bells and whistles, sorry.

Yum! Chocolate is like a great wine, captivating all your senses with its many nuances. This is a favorite quick stop before we go into the cinemas. Located at DIX30 un Brossard. With a fabulous selection of dippings that boasts no less than 12 varieties of real chocolate for you to dip your ice cream: cookies and cream, caramel, white and dark chocolate milk chocolate or chocolate fondue! $-$$( if you buy their other products, gifts etc.)

Good but overly sweet! Sweet is not bad but I thought the sweetness masked the individual flavour of the ice cream.

Some other favourites that I wasn't expecting to see: Popeye sticks, push pop, love hearts, gob stoppers and those large fruit shaped candies! The interior and packaging of the sweets is very classy. Many of the sweets are packed beautifully in more of a gift form rather than grab and go sweeties. Because of this, I feel the selection can appeal to any age as there is something for everyone. They would make lovely party favours! Great treat for the South-Shore but not so much for the parents. Prices are quite steep and some are ridiculous for what they are (a tiny pack of flying saucers at 5$). I guess they can get away with it due to the rarity of the merchandise but still...

Chocolato is located along Tashereau right infront of the Portobello mall, facing the Buffet des Continents. This modern stand alone establishment has lots of interior and exterior seating as well as a drive-thru for your convenience. With high celings and windows all around, it is a beautiful and well lit interior. Similarly to their biggest competitor "Chocolat Favoris" located in Dix30, you will find gourmet chocolates, cakes, sorbet and ice creams that can be dipped in their variety of flavored melted chocolates. Ranging from dark orange to white blueberry or strawberry dips, these coatings transform your cone or sundae experience and are ideal for fondues. We tried 2 of their deluxe sundaes, at $7.99 each, these have deluxe pricing as well. The toppings are generous (you can get bananas, entire oreo cookies or even fruit loops to adorn your cup) however I was expecting a fudgier chocolate sauce and their signature melted chocolate dip that was poured over my ice cream hardened instantly. If you don't mind the crackling shell effect, this will be fun however if you pictured ooey gooey hot fudge, you may be disappointed. The $2 sundaes offered at Costco are far tastier if you are on a budget. Unfortunately, I found the quality of the Chocolato ice cream and dips inferior to Chocolat Favoris, and think it is ridiculous that you need to pay for a loyalty card to rack up free products. Their biggest competitor offers a free points app that allows you to redeem free cones on your birthday and more. For this alone, I will continue purchasing my speciality ice cream at Chocolat Favoris in Dix30. I went around lunch time on their weekend opening, it was a beautiful warm and sunny day yet the store was almost empty and they had no special promotions either. What will happen in the winter months? I am not too sure of the survival of this shop considering they also have a kiosk in the Champlain Mall just a couple street away. Worth a try so you can decide for yourself where to get the best frozen desserts in the area.

The food is certainly delicious and the chocolate is incredible. I usually get their cafe latte bol size, a buckwheat crepe and some kind of dessert with chocolate. It's always worth the indulgence at this place! This time I had my latte bol and a galette bûcheronne and a fondant au chocolat. Delicious! Service was fairly good throughout the meal but one time we had to ask for water. The only mildly detracting things about this place are that it certainly could be cleaner and it's also really popular with kids. While this is all good if the kids are well behaved occasionally you get a screaming kid or crying baby which can detract from your enjoyment of the food. On this visit, I also purchased some chocolate fondues to take home and the line to buy their retail products was very long and slow. The woman in front of me just got frustrated with the slow service and left. It seems like restaurant orders take priority over retail sales. Folks were just waiting in line a long time to pick up or purchase retail items while all the staff were preparing coffee drinks and running food to tables. They are likely short staffed right now as their were hiring adverts all over the place.

I'm sure they were low in staff as it was Christmas time and well, you know....COVID. So don't expect a quick meal. We got our crepe and it was quite hearty! And they have a small container of salad which I really appreciated. Kind of wished there was more. You eat with disposable utensils to reduce having to clean or exposure of COVID. There is a water station with plastic cups. We did stop by here another day to pick up some chocolate goodies to bring home. I would imagine the brownies would be amazing but we stuck to the crepes and mochas which was pretty rich. Overall, it was a great way to spend a little time with family, food and drinks were good, just took a bit of time to get it. But the service was friendly which is always a plus.
