I visited Montreal a couple weeks ago and decided to make a visit to Chocolats Favoris as I was craving some ice cream. I had always heard about this place but never had I been as it always had a long line. I'm happy did though! The service was quick and efficient and the interior was huge. I ended up getting the dark chocolate dipped brownie ice cream and when I say it was one of the best ice creams I've ever had, I'm not lying! The chocolate dip was nice and thick around the ice cream. It had the perfect crunch. The interior was a soft serve vanilla ice cream. I'd recommend everyone go and try this place out! read more

We were looking for some treats or potential gifts to bring home so we figured we'd look at Chocolats Favoris as the photos on Yelp looked very enticing. It's a fairly large space and I can see this place getting really busy if it wasn't for COVID. They sell a variety of prewrapped chocolates and other chocolate-based goods. They also sell some handmade chocolate truffles by the piece as well as the very famous dipped ice cream. Although the ice cream was enticing, we were full and we were specifically looking for gifts. So nothing really jumped out at me in terms of things to buy that was special. But we did end up getting a dozen handmade chocolates with some alcohol filling for the family. We didn't get to taste them but they seemed fancy (along with the fancy price). We easily picked out our chocolates and paid quickly as there was only one other group in the store with us. Another option for chocolate treats out in DIX30. I will have to try out their ice cream next time! read more

This store can bf a little overwhelming if you have no idea what you are getting yourself into. We met a friend there on a Thursday evening. I never went to Chocolats Favoris before, so l had no idea shat to order. And their website is no help. But the clerk was a huge help. The good: Very tasty ice cream. Lots of purchase possibilities of things and anything chocolate. Pretty looking store. Seating spaces inside and outside. Very friendly and resourceful cashier. You can get your cone in a bowl. The bad: Let's be honest, it can be pricey. They put s lot of hardened chocolate on top of your ice cream, but yet gives you a weak spoon to try to break it if you use a bowl, which is almost impossible. Can get very messy (because of previous spoon point). This is a great place for ice cream, but because of the price, it will be more a treat than a regular visit. read more

The hype of this dessert chain is overrated. Walking in at around 9 pm, there was a huge line up of people.The decor I thought was identical to Juliette & Chocolate (which i think is more elegant and perfect in size). The menu was simple but considering we didn't have much time to order- I had to be quick. The wait wasn't long. The cashier wasn't helpful in distinguishing flavors as the menu said the Cotton Candy coated ice cream came with a surprise flavor. She looked at me in confusion as if I had no idea what I was talking about. Between my friend & I, we ordered 2 baby cones- Cotton Candy & Vanilla & Maple, a regular smore cone that came out to 15$ with tax. The wait to get our ice cream was long and disorganized. There was at least 6 people working the counter. There was no numbering system to keep track of people in line. Basically they scream out your name and you have to be lucky enough to hear your name. Disastrous! The ice cream was pretty good though and beautifully decorated with cotton candy, a maple cookie and marshmallow- cute as ever!! I liked that the chocolate coating prevented the ice cream from melting and running down my fingers. It would have been nice to be given ice cream holders. The seating area was crowded and overwhelming with kids. I would stick to the Juliette & Chocolat in the square for dessert! read more

I've been to this Dix30 location three times. The first time, the line was so long I left. I endured the line the next two times - they bring around samples of chocolate while you wait. The soft serve vanilla ice cream itself is pretty bland but creamy. You can choose between 4 flavours; vanilla, chocolate, maple and strawberry. I've also tried maple and it's yummy. Their dips are nothing amazing - very thick and on the sweet side. Their selection is lacking compared to La Diperie. Last time, I chose the cookie dough chocolate creation and it was pretty good but too sweet. Their sizes are completely off so a mini is more than enough for me (which is around $5-6). Now for the bad stuff: their ordering/waiting line system is ridiculous. They don't let people know that there's a line for paying (you pay first), and a line to wait to get your ice cream. Because everyone gets their soft serves dipped, the line can get pretty long, especially at around 9-10pm. I literally had to take charge and tell people where to stand! I hope it's not like that in all of their locations... read more

This ice cream is a must when in Montreal! You pick which flavor of soft serve ice cream you want (vanilla, chocolate, lime...), and then dip the soft serve ice cream in a variety of melted chocolates. My favorite is caramel fleur de sel! It is milk chocolate base, and you get a nice salt flavor from the fleur de sel. It's sweet, salty, and divine! I order the bebe size because it is so rich, anything bigger would be too much for me to eat. There is usually a line to get served but it moves pretty fast. The girls working at this location are very nice. There is also a nice seating area outside! Perfect for a summer night! read more

I have already reviewed the Boul. Cousineau location - this is the one for Dix30. In general, I do love Chocolat Favoris and their great concept & variety. It is very impressive how they are coming up with innovative new ideas such as the 'chouchou's' and the disproportionate ice cream cones (forgot the name) that have marshmallows and other large delights stuck to them. After trying 'La Diperie' (which came before Chocolat Favoris and has the same concept) though it may not be as fancy and strong as the whole Quebec 'artisanal' brand, I preferred the ice cream and flavours there. It is definitely worth visiting at least once. I find however, the Dix30 location is way too crowded - we were there at around 11pm last Friday and the queue was 'til outside! It was absolute mayhem... I waited for about 10 minutes and the line didn't move at all so we left. I guess with it being the holidays right now, the place was just very overcrowded with kids and families. Think I will be sticking to the Cousineau location. read more

Decided to bring my bff's kid out for some ice cream and he chose this place cause he said " I love the blue ice cream". I wasn't sure was this entailed but I found out soon enough! We waited in line which was a crazy wait but understandable as this spot seems to be the only one anywhere near offering ice cream; it's also located in the Dix30 complex which is huge, with many shops and a crazy big movie theatre. We placed our order: choose your cone size, choose your dip, proceed to another line to watch your cone being made . The cones are huge! Even for a small cone, the portion was big. I got the dark chocolate dip which was surprisingly still sweet. The kid got this neon blue cone with cotton candy topping, and although it was a mini, he never finished it. I took a taste and was horrified! Wayyy too sweet! Overall, I didn't enjoy my ice cream cone, mostly cause I found the dip too sweet and the concept a little unoriginal although I must say that, unlike its rival, the Diperie, the chocolate seems of better quality. I prefer straight up flavoured ice cream rather than plain vanilla dipped in bells and whistles, sorry. read more

Chocolat Favoris is my favorite ice cream shop in the world (with PinkBerry coming in a close 2nd - although that is fro-yo and nowhere in Montreal but I digress). Cream comes from the cows in the Charlevoix region and you can taste the difference. It's ice CREAM, not milk and water like Dairy Queen. You can dip it in chocolate of all sorts and they aren't cheap on the chocolate either. When it hardens it's about 2mm thick. Diabetics beware! This place is addictive; but I guess there are worse vices to have. read more

Chocolat flavours is a new concept in Quebec for ice cream& chocolate lovers. When I stepped into the store, there was a lineup so the wait was very long. The staff is composed of young teens who are very nice & patient because some of the customers kept on asking questions about the flavors & changing their orders. Not a big choice of ice cream but more choices in the chocolate dipping, some were good others were too sweet. I think this place is overrated in price. The decor is very nice with lots of seatings, it reminded me a bit of the M&M factory stores in Vegas but on a lesser scale. Overall it was ok but nothing to become an adept of the place. read more

I have eaten ice cream from all prices and qualities range. What I can tell you is this place is nothing special and I don't know what the fuss is all about. First, there is the lack of choices of ice cream, the dipping choices are extensive and the products being sold there are expensive for simple chocolates. My last order there was a small ice cream sundae with orange shock dipping. It costs me 5,20$ for a very small cup. That money could be used for some amazing Italian ice cream and not for some generic overprice ice cream sundae. The decor of the price is nice and there are a lot of seating. Customer services are courteous and friendly. Overall, it gets three stars for the place. I guess we are paying for the decorations instead of the desserts. read more

I really don't understand why so many people have this place 4-5 stars. The vanilla ice cream doesn't have a trace of vanilla or milk taste, and the dip is so sweet it burn my throat, I even doubt they use real chocolate for the dip because it is chewy and not crunchy like other franchises like DQ. If you don't care much about flavours and just want something soft and cold and taste like refine sugar, it is a good place because it is so cheap. But I rather spend more money on some really ice cream. read more

I don't know why, I am fascinated by dipped ice-cream, but almost always, I am let down by those stores that sell them, which includes Chocolat Favori. Unlike other places I went to before like Diperie, Chocolat favori is more like a store than an eatery. Of course, their business is mainly selling chocolate and opens up the ice cream stands when summer starts. There was a big lineup at the Dix30 store and they have a cafeteria area that look a bit like school cafeteria, it was much nicer to walk around Quartier Dix30 with my ice cream rather to sit down. The service was not very good and the wait time too long. They offer a variety of chocolate dips for ice cream, but I didn't like what I picked: mango ice cream with orange dark chocolate dip. I think that maybe other choices look and taste better are more worth a try. read more

First let me say: I love love love ice cream and could eat it every single day of the year. Now, that being said: after eating the ice cream here I legit didn't want to even think about ice cream for another month. At least. The ice cream was great, but wow - I was 99% sure I was going to get diabetes after I ate that. I got the small (cookies and cream) and although it was really good about half way through I felt sick. It's like eating ice cream and a bar of chocolate at simultaneously. I'll go again but will definitely get the mini next time. read more

Good but overly sweet! Sweet is not bad but I thought the sweetness masked the individual flavour of the ice cream.
