In retribution, the Executive Director, Dan Silva, called Care Plus for a psychiatric evaluation for "behavior problems," and screener Michael Gorden not only believed his pack of lies but also repeated the false accusations in his report to have me forcibly removed from the facility claiming a mental health crisis. Instead of following proper protocol by obtaining signed statements from staff members that the behavior problems actually happened, this jerk signed authorization to have police take me to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center (where I wasted an entire days, eventually clearing both medical and psychiatric evaluations. Mr. Silva had locked all of the doors and refused to re-admit me, committing the criminal offense of "Patient Dumping." His sole purpose was to get me out of the building so that he could get rid of a "nuisance Medicaid patient" and Michael Gordon was his accomplice. The matter is now under investigation by the N.J. Attorney General's Office and the OSC Office of State Comptroller, and I have filed a complaint against Michael Gorden as well for taking away my civil liberties because of malpractice. Care Plus should be closed down entirely, and both Dan Silva and Michael Gorden should be in prison. Avoid like the plague!!!

They wrote me an auto response email saying they were concerned and would follow up. Have I heard from them? No. Did they post my review? No. I can't put into words how truly disgusted I am with this doctor. I wasted hundreds of dollars on him in hopes of getting my life back with the help of alternative medicine. Instead, he told me my disease was mental (I have plenty of proof that it's not), and that I should read a couple of recommended books. I'm not even kidding. At the time I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt because he seemed like he wanted to help. In retrospect, I realize how vulnerable I was at that moment, and he completely took advantage. He made me wait hours for my appointment, and then had the nerve to tell me he had children to feed (making my visit as short as possible). Ironically, his staff is WONDERFUL. They are genuinely happy to see you and do everything they can to make you feel comfortable during your visit.

I have been attending New Pathway for several months and feel better than I have in years. I should…read moreadd that I have been to other treatment facilities that demanded laborious 3 hour group sessions multiple times a week that often left me more stressed out. Treatment of substance abuse disorders mainly address social, psychological, and spiritual aspects, often ignoring the physical aspect. I have found that most treatment, including 12-step programs, do not address the BODY connection to healthy mind and spirit. The modality of recovery at New Pathway is the most comprehensive. I have found many of the resources available in this program to be the most helpful of the various treatment plans available for recovery. From group counseling to work outs, meditation and yoga, tai chi and spiritual groups, this place offers a broad spectrum of services for cultivating health and well being. I would also like to say that the counselors and staff are all very good in their positive affirmations and support. They actually really do care (Nicholas, Tim, Mike, Jenny, Molly). 5 Stars. I am editing to say that their doors are not left open it's a nice private room. The director Nick sends text messages (which you are free to opt out of) just to keep everyone up to date on hours or closing due to weather etc so you don't end up left without care. The receptionist is the sweetest, Dr Obi cares genuinely for his patients , knows everyone by name and never rushes! The center just keeps getting better since they opened! Rather than taking accountability for dropping me after I stabilized on a prescribed benzodiazepine (which I was told was acceptable by the clinician beforehand), they tried to imply I had been warned or that this was somehow my misunderstanding. It was not. I was explicitly told to return after stabilizing, which I did, with medical oversight and documented need. Then I was dropped without warning, and the excuse shifted from "stabilization" to "billing" to "weed use," even though they knew I used cannabis from the very first visit and continued treating me for weeks afterward. Let's be honest, they only saw it as a problem once my stabilization path didn't fit their abstinence-based narrative. Also worth noting, their reply to my review attempted to subtly shift blame while omitting key facts, including that I was following clinical advice from their own staff. That alone is enough to make any patient wary. Misleading responses like that are textbook examples of how clinics dodge accountability while protecting institutional image. If you are someone with complex needs, especially if you require stabilization over abstinence, do not trust this clinic to follow through. They will support you only as long as your path conforms to their narrow framework. Once it doesn't, you're out.
