They canceled my appointment a day before it was scheduled because I was past due from two visits - they left a voicemail stating this and sent an email that had no return address, insisting that I call their office to reschedule the appointment. To require a phone call in this day and age (when I can and did pay the bill online) is extremely rude and insensitive - especially for a place that is supposed to be supporting mental health. I have long complained that their emails look like spam (noreply + no identifying details that helps me understand exactly what date they are billing me for). That then they cut me off, at the last minute for being a little over a month behind on my amount due is the last straw. Until this company gets better billing practices and improves their communication system, I highly recommend you skip any therapist who wants to practice here. read more

Dr. Hansen is a great doctor. Well informed and a compassionate listener. My complaint is with his psycho administrative care team. Unresponsive and terribly disorganized. I waited a week for a medication after calling 3 times. Perhaps the whole team needs a refresher course on patient medication importance and computer management with pharmacies. This review is for Dr Z. He is amazing; our older daughter saw him elsewhere and the first time we saw him, it was like the skies opened up and there was angels singing! Seriously, we had been seeing mental health professionals for quite awhile when we met him and it felt like someone finally knew my child! He sees my son now and is just as amazing with him. We continued to see him when he moved to the other side of the twin cities and now we live even further away and still see him via zoom! He is the best!! read more

This clinic cares more about building your insurance for the maximum amount than it does, whether you live or die that's an actual quote. They don't have doctors on call on the weekend in case you're in an emergency, and if you ask for help during one, they will not, instead referring you to a dozen or more crisis lines that are out of service or not serving your area. When I asked what else I should do, to get the medicine that was stolen that my doctor prescribed until I was dependent on it, they told me to go to the ER with two little babies. These people do not care whether you are hurting or not. It is a chop shop and nothing more and they want to deal your insurance for every cent they can while their doctors come on anywhere from 9 to 12 minutes past the hour of your 15 to 30 minute $200 plus appointment. read more

Initially I was really happy with the clinic but found that, coming from Minneapolis, the location in Golden Valley was less than convenient for me. I felt like I was misled as well when I made a late cancellation once and had to pay a $75 fee. I had in fact signed a form which explained that, but that was something I didn't pay too close attention to when I did my intake. When I checked the website, the information was different and that was what I was basing my decision to have a late cancellation. My teenager daughter saw Dr. Yurchanko. This was via Telehealth, it took Dr. Y close to 5 minutes before she made eye contact with either one of us. She was looking away at a screen trying, her voice tone and body language reflected no interested in my daughter, no attempts to build any rapport with my daughter. For the last 30 minutes, I stepped out of the appointment to offer my daughter some privacy. Dr. Y did not follow up with me,I called the office on multiple occasions to ask for information on her dx. and medications, if any changed in medications. On the 3rd call, 3rd week after the appointment and I had left a message with the office manager as well. I was told Dr. Y refused to call me/talk to me except during a follow up appointment. This could have been stated to me at the beginning so I could have made this right away. My daughter told me there was specific therapy that was recommended, she did not know if her medication was changed and if Dr. Y was willing to manage her current refills. Theses were all my questions but no one willing to talk to me. As a parent trying to help my daughter manage her mental health issues, I have decided to find a different clinic and I would not recommend this clinic and especially not Dr. Yurchanko. I am in the mental health field and will direct my co-workers to never use this clinic. read more

My daughter had been in therapy for 18 months to help primarily with occasional (once or twice a month) attacks of anxiety that kept her from school and other symptoms I won't share here to protect privacy. It started to get worse in November, missing school more often. We went to Choices Psychotherapy to try medication. I told the Psychiatrist that my daughter had diagnosed bi-polar in her immediate family. Her cycling moods suggested the same. The Dr. told me one medicine appropriate for bi-polar would be right. After speaking with my daughter alone, she came out with a different prescription - an anti-depressant which also can help with anxiety - and no explanation for the change. She dutifully took the medicine - and things worsened over the next month. She stopped going to school. She became increasingly paranoid. I talked to her therapist & called back to Choices. Her psychiatrist at Choices was on vacation for a month - so they talked to another Dr. who said to stay on the same medicine until her psychiatrist returned - 5 weeks after the original prescription. Four weeks after the original prescription my daughter had a complete breakdown. I won't give details to protect her privacy but it was a nightmare. We hospitalized her. A Psychiatrist from Abbot interviewed her and us and she was immediately taken off the medication prescribed at Choices. I found it was very dangerous to prescribe an anti-depressant for someone with bi-polar. The medicine can push you into manic episodes, which is what happened with my daughter. She was diagnosed type 1 bi-polar, given appropriate medicine, and she is recovering well. Mistakes happen, however I believe Choices was not sufficiently consultative. They should not have changed prescriptions without spending time with me to discuss their thinking. And I warned them she may be bi-polar and yet they gave her a medicine dangerous to someone with bi-polar. Then did not recommend any change when I told them her condition was seriously deteriorating 3 weeks later. read more

An uncaring and potentially dangerous experience. It's been three weeks and my mental health professional still hadn't responded to my request for a critical medication refill. His office staff supposedly emailed 3x for a response. Office staff: "Well maybe he wants you to come in." Maybe? Why the guess? If he wants/needs to see me? Great. I'll come in. I was forced to find another provider and pay a huge initial evaluation fee. read more

Very disappointed. I called on a Tuesday to make an appointment, and was told someone would call me back that day or the next. By Friday without a return call from them, I called again. I was told I would get a call back that day and it didn't happen. Horrible place Dr Z is phony and pretends to care then gives you improper bill for $200 if you are in hospital and miss appointment or are over 5 minutes late. Inappropriate touching and suggestions. Kind of creepy. Office manager really apathetic does not seem to care about patients. Receptionists are nice. Office is small and dumpy, cramped musty old building. Kind of creepy for psychotherapy office that is supposed to care about patients. I think they just care about money not patients. Don't bring kids here for sure. read more

Dr. Z has been an absolute Godsend to our family! He genuinely cares for our son and gives pragmatic and helpful advice. Dr. Z always gives parents time to share apart from the child. He understands FAS and our boy listens and responds to his ideas and advice. We drive 20 miles one way to visit his clinic and it is MORE than worth it! Also we see Carrie S. and find her empathetic and helpful. Asks questions to get our teen thinking about how his behavior impacts others. Unpacks to the underlying issues. I ended up going here for medication management after moving to MN from out of state. I was sorely disappointed with the service I received. My psychiatrist was 40 minutes late for our initial appointment. She didn't ask me nearly enough about myself to know how to best manage my meds. AND she sent in the wrong prescription to my pharmacy. Needless to say, I will never be returning. I was also charged over $100 more than I was told I would be before the appointment. Definitely recommend going elsewhere. read more
