Super-delicious, affordable, sensible, fresh, and pleasing food at the ridiculously overpriced and over-hyped Wharf. Features custom salads and bowls. I recommend the tropical chicken bowl and the salmon burger. No soft drinks, but they offer hibiscus tea, seltzers, etc. Served by nice staff. This is on the farther end of The Wharf, near the CVS. We enjoyed our meal, which for two cost as much as a mere entree at some other nearby places at The Wharf. And you can get right in! read more

I really want to like this place so bad, but I just can't. I live nearby and hit Chopsmith maybe once a week, hoping it would be my go to place. I keep giving it more chances and not sure why. If you're a salad fanatic, they have just about everything you can ask for. But the sandwiches are inconsistent for the price (you're paying for the location for sure) and the coffee is just the worst. They use far, far too much oil/butter for their grilled items, and I've had some stomach issues with both their tuna and chicken salad. Some of their simple pre-made vegetable mixes are good and fairly priced when available (cucumber and tomato, etc), which they should have more of. They look pretty busy but given the location and offices nearby I'd expect more? Hard to say. They have some of the most intricate salads ever devised by man, but strike out on the other basics. read more

The wharf louis salad was tasty, but the crab didn't taste good and the avocado was brown and gross (I asked for a new avocado slice and they switched it out). The steak chimichurri was also tasty but it wasn't hot. Doesn't seem as fresh as expected...and for $20 a plate, I expect basic freshness. The food is a solid 4 stars. But the speed and convenience kick it up to "go to" status if staying at the Wharf. Order through Uber eats and it's ready in minutes. Usually less than 10. Then a quick stroll to pick it up and you're eating fresh well made food. We picked up breakfast each morning and had several pickup salads for lunch. The chicken breast sandwich was a bit dry for me but again convenience wins here. Stick with salads and breakfast and you'll be satisfied. read more

My first time trying Chop Smith was via UberEats and I was so blown away by the amazing taste of the Salmon & Grilled Avocado Bowl that I said my next time eating there, I wanted to go in-person. Located down at the Wharf, you can expect a hard time finding parking, especially if you are not looking to pay to park in the garage, but I promise it's worth a few trips around the block to find a park. The restaurant itself is modern and very well-kept. Like many restaurants in DC, it's not much dining room space but if you go during non-peak hours you're very likely to get a seat. The service is fairly fast and the staff is very welcoming and personable! The menu consists of salads, bowls, plates, and sandwiches and overall is very healthy. My go-to has been the Salmon & Grilled Avocado Bowl (I've actually had it 3 times this month, that's how good it's been). The ingredients have been extremely fresh each time I've gone and the meal is so filling. On two occasions, I've had enough for dinner and lunch the following day. Chopsmith also offers a variety of drinks to include iced tea, limeade, coffee, tea, mimosas, wine, beer, and canned cocktails. Trying to find a vegan meal at the Wharf is no easy task. I'd previously been to Chopsmith, so before a show at the Anthem, my boyfriend and I decided to eat here. Sadly, this visit was incredibly disappointing. When I tried to use the kiosk to order the banh mi sandwich, it would not let me both sub the chicken with tofu and remove the aioli, nor did it offer tofu as a sandwich option when we tried to use build your own function, so we ordered at the counter, and even the young woman working the register had to do some sort of override to get it to do both. We also had to modify the Mediterranean salad to make it vegan. (What is it with putting cheese on salads?) It's a pet peeve of mine (and many vegans) that we have to make so many modifications to get a meal. And normally I really like bowl places, but this is an exception. The food was okay. I wish there was actual pita instead of two small slices of toasted baguette that came with the salad to scoop up the dollop of hummus. And the tofu was not the right texture for a good banh mi. But it was steps away from where we had to line up at the Anthem, so there is that. read more

Possibly the best spot on the wharf when it comes to the quality of food. They do great with large catering orders sent up to our office and just the one off sandwich or salad. Salads are delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and interesting. The bacon egg and cheese on an English muffin is simple and tasty and the only thing you can find on the wharf for under $10. Staff is friendly and efficient. Was in town for the holidays and stayed in a hotel near the wharf area. I was very surprised by how quality the food here was. Wanted to get something relatively healthy but filling so found this place and decided to check it out. You can eat indoor or outdoor - it's a fast casual vibe kinda like chipotle where you can order components. We each got a plate. For the plates you get a choice of main, a garden salad or a ceasar salad and then two sides! The plates were such good deals - I got the steak market plate with ceasar salad and two veggie sides. It's like a combination between cafe, deli, and cute boutique. Their offerings may sound average at first: salads, bowls, sandwiches - that type of thing - but if you actually look at their menu you'll see that they have amazing options. A grilled steak and cheese panini isn't *just* a steak sandwich, but has grilled steak, Swiss and American cheese, roasted tomatoes, caramelized onions, and chimichurri. Just yes. The cheese is nicely melted, the steak tender, caramelized onions so sweet, chimichurri zingy and garlicky, and the bread is nice, warm, and crispy on the outside (as a panini should be!). Ordered this sandwich on ciabatta and will order it again and again. Also tried their crab cake and turkey club sandwiches - both were delicious. We were looking for a good light lunch place and ended up here. My friend ordered the Salmon & grilled avocado bowl and I ordered the Baja bowl. Both were delicious. We had a toddler with us so we also got a side of hummus and also an order of the pasta. My absolute favorite thing was the Kale agua fresca. I needed a quick lunch after a long travel day and the hotel check-in desk recommended Chopsmith. It is a quick walk and is nicely located near CVS and all the hotels on the Wharf. Being a vegetarian and looking at the menu, I was excited to see halloumi on the menu as I rarely find it in America. I went ahead and ordered the plate which came with one protein (halloumi--3 pieces), house salad or Caesar salad, rustic bread, and two sides (hummus and roasted potatoes). The halloumi was nicely grilled and salty as it already comes, the caesar dressing tasted a little oniony which I was not expected, generous amount of hummus that I realized I did not care for and should have gotten some other grilled vegetables.
