My son started here when he was 8 after moving from another gym where we felt he wasn't progressing. Cho's Academy is the perfect balance of serious jiu jitsu instruction and safety and fun. My son has progressed and all the kids have fun and work hard. The kids are trained by black and brown belts that are very knowledgable. I also enjoy that I have direct cell phone access to Jacob, the owner, and can talk through things if anything ever comes up. My son started at Cho's Academy last year and it quickly became the first activity he truly became passionate about. Master Cho is an incredibly patient and dedicated teacher who instills discipline and respect amongst his student. Unlike many martial arts studio's Cho's Academy isn't a belt factory which was really important. As best I can tell students are recommended for testing when they are ready for testing, not just because the next test is up on the schedule. Belts are earned not bought. Jacob is a great BJJ instructor helping with some unique setups for the triangle and arm bar that I had not seen before. I've been practicing Martial Arts for over 30 years and I've trained and competed all over the world. I have been training at Cho's Academy for almost 6 months now. I can honestly say this is by far the best place I have ever trained at. I have been doing Martial arts on and off since I was 8 years old. I have trained in karate, tae kwon do, Ninjutsu, and Bushidokan. I trained at rampage fitness academy and team oyama. I then started training at Cho's Academy after I was referred to by a friend. I have been hooked ever since I go 4 days a week, to both kick boxing and jujitsu on mondays and Wednesdays. jujitsu Fundamentals on Tuesdays and then open Mat on Thursdays. The people there are very friendly and will answer any questions you may have. Ever since I started training there I can see a huge significant difference in my technique. when I first started my punches and kicks were so poor and slow I couldn't believe how much better I am now. when I first started rolling in Juijitsu I would get caught in chokes, leg locks or arm bars. After training for a while,I now have better technique to get out of all of them. I also noticed my punches are my kicks are faster and have more power to them. I am more flexible and my stamina is so much better. I have to give a special thanks to Eric Van der Lee, Jason Bukich and of course Jacob Cho. without them I don't think I would have learned so much in such a short amount of time. I highly recommend Cho's Academy for anyone who wants to improve on their boxing, their kicks and their jujitsu. read more

I have been training at Cho's for a few months, practicing Brazilian jiu jitsu, loving every minute I get to roll here with the ocean breeze seeping in through the front door, calming me as I'm slowly getting cross collar choked by the higher belts. It sounds barbaric but the finesse and agility it takes to get out of said choke is taught well here. Upon first visit I was greeted with a friendly hello and introduction by most there, including the instructors. My first roll here was free, and devoid of intimidation by students or instructors -just good vibes. Jacob hosts open mat every other Sunday, and last the Wednesday of every month. I love this informal style of training and everyone is welcome gi or no gi. Regular classes are Monday and Wednesday evening. Lastly it's CLEAN, you would have no idea dozens of schweaty people are there on the regular. It's well taken care of. You can tell Cho takes pride in his facility. read more
