Stopped by at 5 pm so not a lot of parties left but bought a couple of rum raisin scones at $5.75 each and a dark chocolate cherry bread at $7.75. Friendly staff. Choco cherry bread was ok but would have liked more Choco chips and cherries in it - tasty though. Scone decent size. Bit in the dry side but warming in microwave helped. Stopped by on a Tuesday morning for some pastries on the way to a nearby appointment. There was ample street parking on the quiet street. There were a couple of people ahead of me in line but service was quick. Lots of savory and sweet pastries to choose from - the massive cinnamon roll caught my eye, and I couldn't resist not getting it, also got the twice baked almond croissant and a kouign amann. I ate the kouign amann soon as I got into my car - it was the perfect amount of sweetness and flakiness, albeit a bit small in size despite being around the same price point as the croissant and cinnamon roll. Unfortunately was not a big fan of the cinnamon roll. Though the roll itself was pillowy soft upon reheating it in the microwave a bit, it lacked the amount of cinnamon that you would expect, and the frosting on top tasted like cake frosting with it almond extract in it and was far too sweet. I had to scrape most of it off. Almond croissant was also just okay - filling was on the sweeter side and croissant itself just didn't taste very fresh. read more

I'm so glad I came across this bakery! Was working in the area and decided to take a break to get some treats. Almost everything I've had here has been amazing. I don't think you could go wrong with any of their pastries and baked goods! They run out of some stuff early on and pastries seem to rotate (not sure of the frequency). Staff is super nice, friendly and will answer any questions you have! There's not really seats to sit inside and it's a pretty small space. We visited Choux Choux Bakery to pick up some tasty treats to eat while hiking in the North Cascades. This small bakery is located on the bottom of a mixed use complex. It's quite small, with only two tables inside for seating. There are some tables outside the building, but I can't see them getting much use in the winter. I guess most people just order to go? Anyways, the pastry cases are full of delicious looking goodies. We ended up trying four: Pain au Lait ($5.75) - This is an enriched bread that's fluffy yet denser in texture. It tastes yeasty and slightly sweet, very similar to a dinner roll but more dense. There's some funky tasting cheese baked into and on top of the very top layer of the bread. In addition, a very tasty kielbasa-like link that tastes neatly spiced with garlic in a snappy sausage casing. It's like a European version of a Chinese hot dog bun! (4/5) Morning Bun ($5.60) - One side of this morning bun is glazed with a super sticky caramel, like what would be seen on a sticky bun. It drips down but doesn't quite cover the other side, leaving a croissant-like crisp texture instead of being sugar enhanced. It's both sweeter and more well layered than the kouign amann and due to the construction, with the sticky bun kind of folded and twisted (rather than straight horizontal layers in the kouign amann), the caramel descends into the crevices in the pastry, giving the entire thing more of a uniform sweetness and flavor. I enjoyed eating this the most of all four pastries we tried. (5/5) Kouign Amann ($5.75) - This pastry has really thick laminated layers (which is fine for kouign amann), but then has a strange leavened bready center that tastes like enriched yeasty bread. Not the most pleasant when I'm expecting a more buttery and sweet pastry. The inside doesn't seem to be sweetened at all and instead all the sugar is glazed on the exterior. The bottom is a bit salty which helps enhance some of the sweet flavors while the top has a very sugar enhanced crunch that's nice. (3/5) Ham & Cheese Croissant ($6.25) - This is a really interesting version of a ham & cheese croissant, some parts positive, other parts not so great. Instead of thinly sliced, more dry deli ham, they cut up thick ham chunks to bake inside, followed by melting a good amount of cheese. The cheese is very mild and seems to be American rather than cheddar given the taste. The ham unfortunately has a lot of moisture built up inside, which leaks out and into the croissant dough, making the interior more spongy and soggy. The exterior is very flaky and buttery though! I'll go on and say that the laminated layers are all very thick and there aren't nearly as many as a high quality French bakery. I don't mind it that much since the croissant itself is only one part of the entire pastry and overall this pastry is good. (4/5) Choux Choux Bakery is kind of a mixed bag for my tastes, but definitely trending towards having good pastries. I'll have to revisit for one of their normal butter croissants to really judge the lamination technique and maybe pick up a loaf of bread. Bathrooms - None inside the store itself. Instead, the bathrooms require a key borrowed from the employees that goes to a door outside along the sidewalk, past the yoga place. They are pretty spacious larger bathrooms with multiple stalls that I think are shared among all the businesses in the building. read more

This place is incredible! Easily some of the best pastries I've ever had. The service was fantastic--everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Seating is a bit limited, so we took our treats to go, but that definitely won't stop us from coming back. As someone who appreciates savory pastries, I easily get my fix here. Even the sweet items are just the right amount of sweetness to taste indulgent but not overkill. We recently tried the Hippie Wheat Bread as I was making split pea soup for dinner and wanted something to pair with it. The bread PHENOMENAL. Great coffee and great pastries! Too many to choose from but I ended up getting some cookies. Chocolate chip, banana bread chocolate chip cherries (which was amazing), and a snickerdoodle. This place is a hit or miss. Some of their breads are incredibly DRY. I got this bread with a sausage in it that was so dry and inedible, also their cinnamon rolls are very dry and not enough icing to help with the dry-ness, I threw it away. On the other hand their cheese danish is nice and moist and not too sweet which I appreciate since everything is so darn sweet nowadays, and I've gotten a banana loaf before which was moist but dense. I like that they also have a basket of items that didn't sell the day before for 1/2 off. Similar to other reviews, the service here is terrible. No one greats you, the ladies behind the counter seemed annoyed when you ask them to explain to you what the item you're looking at is. Or the price. read more

The area to order is quite narrow so if it's busy it gets cramped. I did not like my chai and would not recommend. It was watery and lacked strong flavor. I had bookmarked Choux Choux Bakery for quite sometime. I finally took a spontaneous drive up north to Everett to check it out (8/29/23). It is located close to the downtown core, at street level of an apartment or condo building. I was able to snag one of the 90 minute adjacent street parking slots, which was convenient. Upon entering, I liked the high ceilings and windows that allowed for plentiful natural light. Immediately to the right were a trio of two tops, near featured wall art, some healthy plants, pair of turntables, and a vast collection of vinyl albums. I chose to remain indoors as it began to drizzle outside. There are several outdoor cafe tables and chairs arranged in the courtyard. Limited indoor seating, but there is also a stand up counter. I observed that they do brisk take out. The pastry case had a variety of both sweet and savory baked items. Decent viennoiserie, patisserie, and boulangerie available for one stop shopping. Beverages are available, including coffee beverages from Victrola beans, however no drip - noted from one affixed sign. I appreciated the barista/counter person who was both friendly and knowledgeable about products I asked about, plus kindly warmed up the mushroom croissant. I mistook this for a pain au chocolat...oh well, it's time to go savory. I also ordered an 8 oz mocha. I was surprised that both items were packaged up - guess there's no mugs and saucers for onsite dining. My benchmark is always a pain au chocolat, when available. I was offered a large Nutella pastry instead, but I declined. I was glad that the mushroom croissant ($5.50) was double bagged, because surprisingly it was a bit greasy. There was not much observable lamination of the pastry either. It was flavorful and as my first meal of the day, it was gobbled up. Still wished I had a napkin. There were none available at the sideboard by the entrance. Also, observed that the pastry case could have used a bit of sprucing up, table tops wiped down, and less visible crumbs on the floor...but that's just me. Probably too busy with steady stream of customers all morning to midday. The 8oz mocha ($5) was molten and was double cupped with a lid. Wished there was a recyclable sleeve instead. It was decent, once it cooled down. It was a welcomed beverage, as the temperature today dropped 10-15 degrees compared to the day before. While uploading photos, eating my pastry, and sipping my mocha, I observed a "street person" enter the shop. There was interaction between that individual and the barista/counter person, where water was provided, and person left without further incident. Truly the extra star was simply for that barista/counter person. Uniformly welcoming to all who entered, including myself. No hipster pretentiousness or indifference which was greatly appreciated. Both the pastry and mocha with tax and tip on this initial visit was a little over $12, kind of pricey for my limited budget. There are other indie bakeshops and cafes located in Everett that I prefer more. Props to the Choux Choux Bakery team since they are coming up on their 7th year in business. With the post-pandemic economy, that's great they're able to thrive and sustain a connection with their neighborhood. read more

Firstly, the food is pretty good for a bakery. While they have creative items and such, I would say average or slightly above average quality. Which is fine! Compliments to the chef if they make this stuff in house. Service is TERRIBLEEEEE though. Every single time i've gone in there (only for convenience after the first time i went in) they have 0 customer service. They don't even welcome me in, yet the family that walks in after me they greet fine? I am 21 and I do look a little young but regardless of if i'm young or not-- why are you looking at me like i just ran my car through your front door ? And this may seem exaggerated but it really isn't, i've been in there a handful of times for the bakery just because it's close by to something for me, and each time i am 1. Not greeted/smiled at 2. Forced to engage with these passive aggressive behaviors from the workers. and 3. Most of the time they don't even say anything to me until i say what i want. As someone who's ENTIRE JOB is customer service it's just very sad that such a cute little bakery has people who just don't care about their customers, unless it's a big white family that looks like they have money... Ambiance is very nice like i said it's a cute little bakery, they have a lot of records and vinyls and some seating and stuff. But unfortunately the experience at literally any other bakery would be better--and i would feel more respected. Last note to the employees, get someone to train you all on how to actually have customer service and don't treat people how i've just described. read more

Free timed parking can be found on the street. Discover is an accepted form of payment. There is a small outside sitting area (uncovered) to enjoy one's purchase on warm/mild days. Inside seemed a bit unkempt, perhaps due to nearing closing. Coffee, soup, bread and sweets are listed on the menu board. Sweets were minimal at the time of our visit. The few items we did purchase were fairly priced and good. Service was patient and friendly. Overall, I plan to give Choux Choux another chance during justified hours for a bakery. read more

We came on a Monday Morning on Labor Day - which was great they were open! There was nearby parking a block away. They have a good selection of baked items - bread, croissants, cupcakes, cakes, macarons etc. I suggest looking at their Instagram stories to see what they have fresh for the day. For coffee, they have house made syrups (no low calorie options). For 2 baked goods & 2 coffees we spent about $23. I knocked off a star because they only have 3 tiny tables (2 seats each) inside. I love hanging out in a cafe on a cold, rainy day so wish they had more indoor seating. During the summer they do have a couple tables outside. read more

Nice little bakery tucked away on Grand Ave in Everett. We went later in the afternoon looking for something sweet to eat. Service was great, baked goods looked yummy, and the deli items looked delicious. I would love to try a sandwich or salad there if it was on a lunch run, so maybe next time. This round we got a cinnamon roll, magic bar, and confetti bundt cake. The cinnamon roll was good earned up. I usually like the inside of a cinnamon roll because that's where it's soft, but luckily the outside was soft too! So we were so please about that. The magic bar was sweet, but oh so delish. Cute little coffee shop a couple blocks away from the heart of the downtown hustle of Everett. Very bright ambiance with a lovely smell of fresh baked pastries. Ordered a soy latte and grabbed several croissants and a cookie for my kid. The latte was delicious and appreciate not having extra sugar or syrup pumped in like some other coffee houses. The croissants were flaky and buttery. One of them had chocolate in it and was like a decadent dessert for breakfast. My kid devoured the chocolate chip cookie. Much awaited bakery that I have been waiting to go to. Came here around noon. Street parking is available. Not many sitting space inside or outside. The bakery is located at the ground floor of an apartment complex. Really liked the spread of bakery items. Majority of the goods had name on it, some didn't. The girl serving us was not having it that day, she kept on forgetting what we asked for which she even did to the customer in front of us. We ordered:- Chocolate Chip Cookie:- Crisp on the edges and soft in the middle. Nice. Pesto Pinwheel:- I was told that it is stuffed with a layer of pesto plus sun dried tomatoes. Something tasted off. Straight to bin. Chocolate donut with peanut butter topping:- Thats not what the name is, nor did it have one plus I did not get an answer myself upon asking about it, just pointed towards it. This was the star item. Just Yum. Chocolate cake slice:- Not aware of what flavor the cake slice was but very cinnamony. OK ok. Overall, not the experience I was hoping for. As the friendly customer behind us mentioned as well they are expensive. The customer service could have been better. They were already out of many of their items. Better to come early. read more

I am certainly impressed with this place! I am such a sucker for baked goods, pastries, and all the delectable assortments that a bakery/coffee house can provide. While I did not have a cup of java, the smell certainly lingered with me, like a warm hug. I ordered a half dozen variety of pastries and the gal serving me, packaged them up ever so gingerly, like they were delicate flowers. It made the whole experience extra enjoyable; knowing my baked goods were handled with such loving tender care. I decided to get a ham and cheese croissant (holy moly these are some big boys!), some cinnamon rolls, a cheese danish, an almond croissant, and chocolate croissant.
