Typical grocery store. This is probably one of the nicer things in the run down West end of Sudbury. The selection here is usually pretty good. The produce section is arguably the star of this store. My gripe and reason for writing this review is the deli. The deli staff really have no interest in customer service. A line up here is a death sentence if you are an elderly person in need of lunch meat. I have never experienced this at another grocery store in the city. I am not talking about one bad experience here. The deli is consistently a black hole for time. My advice is if you go here for lunch meat and there is no line you will have to sprint to the deli counter and hopefully get your order in under 10 minutes. If there is a person or two a head of you, do the rest of your groceries and then check back. It is arguably faster to raise your own livestock, butcher them and cure the meat on your own than line up here. read more

I'm so disgusted. A few weeks ago, my Nana slipped and fell on the front steps of Dumas' grocery store (which was not salted). She needed 3 stitches on her elbow from emerg and then developed an infection which lead to 10 days of antibiotics that made her stomach sick... (All while taking care of my Papa with Alzheimers). She of course took it all like a champ because she's the strongest woman I know. And now she is now the proud owner of $250 worth of GIFT CARDS? I'm so disgusted. I will NEVER shop at Dumas' again. Worst part is they did this behind the families back and got her to sign legal papers after visiting her in her home. They took advantage of her at 85 years old. read more

Every time I go to the store, I had no issues with anything. Friendly staff and lots of products to choose from.

My Mom, Rollande, is 95 Feb 7th & still dancing, Her, Birthday party was to be held Feb.6 2014. I made a mistake in ordering by telephone, requesting 5 "Fruit top cheese cakes". After X-country skiing Capreol, I went to pick up my order the night before & was horrified, they were so small, how could I cut enough for 50 people? What I had meant to order was 5 - 8" Fruit top custard Flams! Realizing it was my fault I should have taken the time to order in person, I was frankly so distraught I felt sick. "I want her party to be special, I don't like cakes.. & besides she may not be dancing for long, she could wind up in a wheel chair next month.. etc." I was near tears, "Oh god I am so stupid!" I put my head down on the counter, I was that stressed I couldn't move. Tina (evening Manager) calmed me down saying "Don't worry, we will fix it." Tina contacted Dennis the baker at home, saying "he would make them special for me in the morning ready for pick-up by 11 am. Feb 6, mom & I slept in. Our telephones were dead, & we missed our wake-up call! Frantic I pulled myself together and when I picked them up I was truly amazed! Dennis had created 5 very beautiful works of art! Mom's party at Br 76 Legion was a huge success. Everyone wanted to know where I got them? Saying, they were beautiful and so delicious, exclaiming they had never tasted anything like it before! I have always been a big fan of Dumas grocer, because the staff, always are so kind, caring & sympathetic. I have Parkinsonism severe allergies etc. and often I want something they don't carry. Whatever I desire, they always try and get it for me, Feb. 6th Dennis out did himself, creating a truly sensational luscious magnificent masterpiece. I live in the downtown area and Dumas is our local grocery store. I have been trying to buy lactose free Lactancia half and half and lactose free 2% or 1% milk for nearly a year. We go to the grocery on a daily basis or every other day. There is never and lactose free half and half in stock. Does this not indicate that it is a popular seller and that you should be ordering more. As it stands, I have to drive to Lively in order to pick up my milk and half and half. I like this grocery store other than the fact that they never have this in stock. It is quite frustrating. Order more please! We also get the same response when we ask " The shoulder shrug". :( read more
