In 40 sessions and 3.5 months I lost 43lbs with Chris's training and guidance on health and fitness. Chris is a wonderful person to work with and the results speak volumes of his process - tailored to my abilities, low impact, and always safety first. Chris is a genius at showing you how to reach your best - I look forward to each and every one of our sessions. I'm in my early 40s, have never been athletic, and have had trouble losing weight over the past 10 years. I am so happy I entrusted Chris with my health and fitness goals that I committed to more sessions with him. I feel better than I ever have in my life - I go to sleep easily, wake up earlier, I'm not aching constantly - and the most profound thing to me is that I stress less about everything.

Conveniently located on First Street and accessible 24 hours, the gym is clean and well-maintained. Occupying the entire ground floor of a building, it has a feeling of spaciousness about it. Doors that open to the small patio area, along with ceiling fans, enable good air circulation throughout the space. Fellow gym-goers are friendly and always willing to engage when you approach them about routines or exercises. No attitude at this place whatsoever. People are genuinely happy to share their successes and reflections on their own self-journeys to fitness, which makes the gym feel like not only a place the place where you can go to work out, but also a place where you can continually learn from other gym enthusiasts about ways to improve your own focus on physical improvement. A sense of a community among people with a common interest in health and fitness, and a willingness to share it, are two of of the most unique and notable characteristics of this gym. The owner, Keith Deidrich, pays meticulous attention to the gym's layout and functionality, resulting in a nice rotation of machines and weights throughout the space. It's exciting to come in to find a new machine, such as the very impressive cable crossover set up, complete with high bars for dead-hangs and pull-ups, or a one-of-a-kind lat pull-over machine that requires the force of your elbows, placed on pads and pushing down, to accomplish the exercise. It's like a squat machine for the upper body. In addition to the machines and freeweights, the gym has add-on weight blocks in gradations of two-and-a-half pounds that are custom-made to be inserted on top of the machine pulley racks to increase the resistance in smaller increments when the built-in 10- or 15-pound increases are too much of a step-up. Being able to use these blocks has enabled me to slowly increase the amount I'm lifting without making a jump up to a higher weight that is just too heavy. And there are plenty of cardio machines as well. In short, this neighborhood-centered gym with its relaxed vibe, excellent equipment, and friendly and respectful members makes working out a highlight of my daily schedule.

The gym stays quiet and focused. No crowds, no waiting, no distractions. There's even a small outdoor area for stretching, which is a nice bonus. Parking in the back is consistently available, which is rare for this area and a huge plus. Keith, the owner, clearly takes pride in the space. It shows in how well everything is kept and the overall atmosphere. If you're looking for a low-key, non-corporate gym that's clean, calm, and easy to stay consistent in, this is it.

It's got indoor/outdoor turf, a pool, a hot tub, and equipment that looks straight out of a sci-fi movie. It's high-tech yalls! Views of Downtown and Little Italy? Chef's kiss. They've got eucalyptus steam rooms, fresh towels, spacious lockers and showers, and even grab-and-go drinks and snacks. I basically never want to leave. I have been training with Cory for over 3 months now and she is excellent. I began looking for a…read moretrainer for the first time after experiencing an injury and surgery that took me out of the gym for several months. Losing a big portion of my fitness was very mentally challenging, so I started off training with her to get back into a routine. Prior to that, I had been "working out" for many years, and following a more structured program for 1-2 years. I would say I am moderately educated about training and nutrition, but Cory still provides a HUGE value and expertise that will push your training to the next level. Coming from a science background, I especially appreciate that Cory is very evidence driven in everything she recommends, from taking note on progress to diet recommendations. I never feel like I am wasting my time. She really helps you narrow down what tweaks you can make to achieve your goals in a very realistic, sustainable way. Personally, my goals were improving overall fitness along with some aesthetic progression. Cory has done a great job guiding me to achieve this. There were some workouts I had been doing for years and was doing alright but never quite felt it in the muscle like I was supposed to. Cory really knows the right cues to help you develop your mind muscle connection and you will definitely feel and see the difference. On top of that, my workouts with her are much more efficient than my workouts alone because the set up is so quick so you will get great results and spend less time working out. Even though we are working hard, I look forward to my workouts because she is not only a great trainer but an enjoyable person to be around.
