I met Melody years ago when I took my boys to another shop called the chop shop in 2021. I had another barber for the boys at the time but that barber wasn't too reliable. Melody was there and offered to cut the boys hair, did an amazing job and has been their barber ever since. We've followed her from the Chop Shop days to now being at Executive Suites. I will say that this place is an upgrade from the Chop Shop barbershop with this one being more modern looking, better waiting areas for clients and privacy with each barber/stylist having their own suite to do their client's hair. There is plenty of parking in the back and metered parking in the front. A good tip is to schedule your appointment on a Sunday so the metered parking is free lol. Anyway, it's easy to book appointments on Booksy and I pay her through Zelle so everything is pretty hassle free. They have TV's in the lobby section for the boys to stay occupied and they have a pool table in the main section. Overall it's a great place and I've recommended her to a few friends already. Perhaps my expectations were set too high my my most recent visit. I was initially excited to…read morereturn to Floyd's considering that my last visit went extremely well. So much so that I requested the same stylist that I had been fortunate to work on my hair. That fortune must have been a one time affair as very quickly it was apparent that my time with Ariana was extremely disappointing and I feel embarrassed by my hair. First off, I had done what I thought was a decent effort to prepare for this haircut. I had the original inspiration photos, took notes last time (what was done, what sizes for the electric razor heads, what products were used, etc.), and at the end of the previous appointment, I had Ariana take many photos and video to show every angle of the last cut. After giving her my phone to review, she reassured me that she knew exactly what she was going to do. However, she did not. My haircut was not remotely close to any of the many photos and videos of inspiration or previous work. She did not ask any questions to verify if what she was doing aligned with what I wanted. She very quickly rushed through the haircut and I will admit that I was low energy and asked to keep conversation to a minimum while I needed to close my eyes and relax a bit, but I did tell her to please ask me questions. The end result was embarrassing. What I wanted was a messy fringe that could be styled multiple ways, to emphasize my natural wavy hair by keeping the hair somewhat longer, and to look appropriate for my head shape. What I got makes me look like Beaker from the Muppets. It was too short, even shorter on one side of my head than the other, the back is way shorter than last time and I was already considering to go a little longer in the back this time. Styling it feels impossible. But that isn't all. I had booked for both a Floyd's cut and a detailed bread trim. After the very quick cut, and a very combative response to asking if we could rinse it before styling it, and being told no. She attempted to style it. At this point just kind of looked like a messy mohawk, but I was trying to "trust the process" and thinking that maybe it just looks weird, because it needs product. Product did not help and after she had me take over the styling to see if I could do anything with it, she asked me if there was anything else I needed. Which I told her that I had booked for a detailed beard trim as well. She told me that she doesn't have much time, because she has someone else waiting. She then gave me a "bread trim." I should have done it at home. There was nothing majorly wrong with it, but once again it was rushed and she really only blended it on the sides. She did cut some of my moustache, but she really only shaped the closest center part of my lip, which once again was shorter than I would have liked. There were many spots that were missed I had to go back and fix at home anyway, like the hairs on the sides of the face directly below the outer parts of my moustache. And to top it all off, once the beard trim was done, she asked me to quickly get up from the chair so that she could get her next client. This appointment felt rushed, she did not gather for any information to ensure that her vision and mine aligned, I felt like I was inconveniencing her, and the cut is not what I wanted, nor do I feel confident in it. I am just fortunate that it'll all grow back. If this is how Floyd's does business, I do not see myself returning for a long time.
