I was searching for churches that were meeting despite the Covid crisis. I Discovered Calvary Rd.,…read moreBaptist Church was holding an outdoor service with a tent, so I decided to give it a try. The Church did everything It could to be Covid compliant. They even took my name and email address so they could notify me if they discovered anyone had a positive test result. Being a Baptist church, I was a little surprised that they didn't sing any traditional hymns. They did, however, sing familiar praise choruses that were easily recognizable and not so new that we didn't know the words. As for the message, it's hard to say what is normal considering the circumstances. It was their 41st anniversary as a church, so the focus was not as much on delivering a traditional message as much as it was in recognizing the path that they had taken over the last four decades. The service lasted roughly an hour. The people seemed friendly, but it's hard to tell with social distancing and the awkwardness of being in an outdoor setting. All in all, I enjoyed the service and will likely return for a second visit! They plan to return to indoor meetings by the first of July.

It has a huge AWANA program for children on Wednesday evenings, as well as a variety of adult and teen classes. The church has a good mix of ethnic groups and one focused on hispanics. Some people bring in some nice thing to eat before class with the coffee. Wednesday Night Supper and special event's, Christmas play, Thanksgiving dinner and many more.
