This is not meant as a reflection on religion and I'm sorry if I offend. This is meant to vent over…read morethe obvious money grab of the church. My father passed away last January. He was not a regular at church but he was very generous in his financial support of this church that his parents were founding members of. The pastor of the church, based on how she dealt with my mother's funeral and her horrible "bedside manner" at my father's visitation at the funeral home and at the church after the funeral was not what I think a clergy should be. Not to mention despite her claiming she knew my father well she insisted he was a "recluse" because he didn't come to church. Well if for a second she thought he was a recluse shouldn't she be knocking on his door to A) check on him or B) give him communion or minister to him. And we have not heard a peep from her or anyone at the church since the funeral. So imagine my shock when in today's mail I get a letter from the church....addressed to my dad looking for his pledge of money for next year! Really? He was buried out of this church, the pastor of the church took part in the service and they didn't brother to remove his name from their money grab mailing? Then as I read the letter I see the following "together we feed the hungry, clothe the children, educate our youth and comfort the grieving" Talk about salt in the wound. Sorry but they will have to do without any money from us. Any memorial donations I had thought of making in my parents name will instead go to a charity where my donation will be better used...by an animal rescue.

It doesn't rely on a lot of programs, as it functions with more of a family structure. The choir in the first service is amazing. The preacing is solid at both services. The second service is more contemporary, and focused outward, toward the Lincoln Park neighborhood that it is in.

They are on fire for God all the time. Senior Pastor Rolf has been supportive of the seniors, youth and has a passion for the burden and hurting people that are dealing with addictions, brokenness and walks the extra mile for those who need help in times of pain. This was the church that I attended during my college years, so it will always be special to me…read more But I absolutely love the location of this church - - high up on a hill overlooking Lake Superior. Gorgeous! We attended the Sunday service this past week -- Sunday's it's at 8am or 10:30am.
