I've been going to Christen to get my hair cut for a few years now. I have naturally curly hair and have had a hard time finding someone I really trust to cut my hair but I trust Christen with my hair and will not go anywhere else!! She is very patient and thorough with her haircuts ensuring I am satisfied with the length and style before I leave, which I greatly appreciate. I even began taking my toddler to get his hair trimmed as he takes after me and has naturally curly hair. I was worried about the experience as a whole because he is only 1.5 years old and not the best at sitting still but Christen was incredible. She was so patient and kind. She had lollipops to distract him (which was a huge plus, lol). When he would get overwhelmed she just stopped and would talk to him letting him get calm again and then went back to the cut. She even talked him through what she was doing which I thought was so kind. I highly recommend Christen! She is a very kind and caring person. I feel as though I'm visiting with a good friend when I go to get my haircut. Christen cut my boyfriend's hair last week and did an amazing job! He had been going to different barbers in Visalia, but we found Christen on Instagram and loved her work. He called to check on her availability and she was graciously able to schedule him a same day appointment. Parking is a little sparse on the street but that's just the nature of the area. We are able to park right out in front though. Her shop is really nice inside too. The window in front lets lots of natural lighting in. She also kindly offered us to the water when we arrived. We were able to watch tv while we waited. The product retail area below the tv was also very nice and well organized. I loved the curio cabinet with the vintage barbering and styling implements. You can tell that the aesthetic of the shop had a lot of thought put into it. It's not like that everywhere you go and I was impressed. We didn't have to wait long at all before she was ready to cut his hair. He brought a photo in with him of what he wanted and Christen was very thorough in her consultation and making sure they were on the same page in regards to the haircut. She also has excellent technical abilities and is clearly very skilled. His haircut looked great and was exactly what he wanted. We look forward to being regular clients! read more

I came in on July 10th and set up an appointment for Monday 17, @9:30 am. I show up and no is there! The part the sucks is that I had to get a baby sitter for 2 hours so I could come and get my haircut, I'm very disappointed to say the least. smh read more

I have always wanted a hot-towel straight shave. Porterville has not been a cultural hotbed for such pleasures. Until now. So Christen is in my opinion, one of the most talented and educated cosmetologists in the central valley. She is honestly a hidden gem. She has big city and modern expertise with a small town caring and welcoming nature. She will take the time to listen to you and give you her 100% best professional opinion to make you look your absolute best. This is a person who honestly cares about her clients. My sister and I have been to high end salons up and down the valley and we were always disappointed. We saw her work on Yelp and had to try her services for ourselves.
