This is another part of the Christiansborg castle dating back to 1826 that has been wonderfully preserved and is still in use today. This part of the castle is free to visitors during business hours and while it's not particularly large or grand, it is beautifully constructed.
The inspiration by The Pantheon can easily be seen by the exquisite marbling throughout the church, but in particular by the marble pillars at the entrance resembling Greek temples. The inside has warmer tones with stucco walls, elegant electric candles, light wooden pews, and exquisite pillars and arches. While we only took a brief look around, we were in awe at the refined subtleties and sophistication of the church's design. The atmosphere was quiet, peaceful, and reflective.
This church is still the site of all major royal events including baptisms, weddings, and anniversaries. It's definitely worth a quick look if you're at the castle, especially considering it's one of the only areas freely open to the public. read more
