Mark Liabo was the husband of a coworker with whom I used to work. I told him what happened at my job, that my "assignment had ended." My employer, TalentBurst Inc., said that I had 'quit' my temporary assignment. If an employer says that you 'quit' YOU have to PROVE that you did not quit. The burden of proof is on the employee NOT the employer. I thought this to be an important tidbit worth mentioning. If you know anything about unemployment you should know that you are not entitled to benefits if you quit your job. I was outraged that after 5 weeks of waiting for information from Iowa Workforce Development they had scheduled a fact finding interview that I missed. Once I discovered that I missed the interview I called the worker back within five minutes. She did not answer the phone; my call went straight to voice mail. I left the worker a message saying that I had not quit. I missed the interview but apparently so did my employer. And 'no' just because the employer didn't show doesn't mean you won. Adversely, 3 days later the IWD worker found that I had 'quit.' I had to appeal the decision. I could have represented myself in court but then I thought, "my employer will have an attorney, is it really wise to represent myself?" I called Iowa Legal Services in the hopes that they could help. I had 3 dealings with that organization and all were not pleasant. The atty. with whom I spoke told me to "stop talking, that I would be further incriminating myself if I continued to talk."' "Hm, I thought, I was telling the truth." Although Iowa Legal Services was free I wasn't comfortable letting them handle something so very important to me. I decided to hire Mark Liabo from Currie & Liabo. We talked twice, each time for about an hour. He was kind, knowledgeable, and straight forward. The night before the hearing, June 11, 2020, Mark 'coached me.' He helped me focus and not just provide information that I 'thought' was relevant. WE WON our case! Granted I should have won my case, I didn't quit. And yet I was not confident that justice would prevail without the help of Mark Liabo. The fee? It was VERY reasonable. In retrospect, if I were to do it over, would I hire an attorney at an unemployment hearing? Absolutely! That was the best money I ever spent!

Loosing that would have changed my entire family's lives in a very negative way. My best friend passed away from an asthma attack and I was then searched and they found a pound of cannibal oil. I was then charged with Manufacture with intent to deliver Cannabis. They also tried to charge me with a drug induced homicide because we were smoking pot. After months of fighting them, the homicide portion dropped off. I was then just being charged with the Manufacture with intent. I then tried to get a first timers probation (410) agreement and the states attorney denied because of an ATH of pot I had been charged with as a juvenile. Jim talked with friends of his and came up with TASC probation that if completed, could wipe the record of being charged with a felony entirely. I was then charged with what I was accused of and received 24 months of adult intense probation. Jim put it in the agreement to review for possible early termination at 12 months. 12 months to the day there was Jim, ready to make it happen for me. Jim persuaded the states attorney to allow a successful early termination by 12 months! HALF! Jim didn't stop there. With TASC probation you then have to file a motion to have the record wiped and vacate the conviction. So what does Jim do? Without me even needing to appear in court, Jim represented me and successfully persuaded the states attorney and the judge to VACATE THE ENTIRE CONVITCTION. When choosing a lawyer Jim and Amanda as a team are second to none. They will fight for you in a way to bring results. They understand and they care. Jim is truly an incredible lawyer skilled in the art of influencing others. LeFante law also has the man power to make you feel as if you are there only client. I couldn't ever explain how terrified I was, how emotional the process was... I don't know what I would have done without Jim and Amanda caring for me and my daughter. We spent an hour with this person and were told we would be called later in the week. No call. Contacted again and they said they would get back to us. We received a rejection letter without any reason of why within a few day. We went from expecting a call and got rejection letter. Very disappointing and would certainly not recommend anyone calling RSH for their services. They were a waste of our time.
