I was looking to get my hair styled during my weekend in Paris and I noticed this salon wasn't too far from where I'm staying. I made an appointment a few days prior for a blowout ("un brushing" for any non-French speakers), and wow! They gave me one of the best, bounciest, curliest salon blowouts that I've ever gotten! The stylist doing my hair was also very understanding of what I was trying to say despite my very broken French. I also really liked the colorful and eclectic aesthetic of the salon itself. An appointment with Mario at this colorful salon was exactly what the doctor ordered on one of the dark days of early motherhood. Yes, being a mom is the best thing ever (cue the violins..) but the first few weeks of parenthood can be pretty traumatic, especially on your looks. It was actually my mom's idea to take me to the salon for a quick pick-me-up. With only a 108-minute window in between feedings, I realized that an appointment with my usual hairdresser (Herbert Bauer) across town was totally out of the question. Thanks to Eva's review on Yelp I knew that this salon would be a perfect alternative. Located only a two-minute walk from my place I could feed the kid right before heading out and not have to worry about nursing him while getting clipped. The planned worked brilliantly. Tongue-tied and sleep deprived I had no real stylistic vision in mind but Mario figured out exactly what I needed and gave me a perfect, easy-to-maintain cut that made be feel like a million bucks. I was so impressed by everything here! Eva (?) took care of me and did an amazing job. He was very thorough with the whole process: from making sure my hair had never been cleaner to even having me stand up at the end to cut the last little ends and perfect everything. He did exactly what I wanted and listened very well to my broken French, even helping me with some of it! He also speaks a little English, including the important words "fringe" and "layer." Eva and the other staff were friendly and welcoming as soon as I walked in the door, something I have learned to really appreciate in Paris. My cut was 42 euros and that came with: washing your hair, tea, a gourmet chocolate bar, a blow out, and a big smile :) It's a shame I leave in less than a month or I would be a regular in a heartbeat! With vibrant playful colours and decor the tone is set in this friendly hairdressers. One of the few in Paris where you don't get the head to toe look of steel on entry....and the best bit: these hairdressers seem to really love hair and listen to what you want to get out of yours. I've curly hair and so normally HATE spending 50+ euros to have someone cut it so it can be straightened...curls can't be neat so let them bounce crazy is my motto...Mario, at the Christine Marie Loyeaux salon let them do just that! and I LOVE it. Inexpensive, friendly and extremely relaxed atmosphere with wicked decor and a super good haircut....need I say more?? After six years in the city I finally have a hair salon I love! Alors, je va essayer de ressumer tout ca dans un francais comprehensible (ce n'est pas gagne...) Avec des couleurs vives et un décor ludique le ton est donné dans ce salon de coiffure convivial. L'un des rares à Paris où les coiffeurs semble vraiment aimer les cheveux et d'écouter ce que vous voulez faire avec les vôtres. Thought to post a review here so no one else makes the same mistake. New to Paris, I was looking for a salon that could manage asymetrical and short haircuts. That was my cut, and I needed a trim. Anyhow, I called this salon and asked them if they could deal with such a cut. They said "yes," and they arranged an appointment with Steve at 4 pm the same day. There are two problems that I had with this place (one minor and one very major): (1) The minor problem was that Steve had overbooked, and he was working on two or three different people at the same time. This resulted in one person sitting around and waiting for him while he jumped around to different clients. For example, one time I sat with a towel around my wet hair for about 15 minutes waiting for him. (2) The very major problem was that Steve gave me the worse haircut of my life. I should have realized there was a problem when he said "you have thick hair," but my hair is actually thin. Also,, I told him I didn't like layers, and he preceded to use a razor to chop short layers all over my head including around cowlick making me look like a little boy. While I felt like crying, I could only laugh. You are now forewarned Yelp-ers!! Thanks goodness Brigette at Jean Louis Deforges salon was able to fix my hair two days later. I'll be sticking with that salon for the rest of my stay in Paris. Be well! read more

I made a appt and when I got to the salon I realized it was not the salon I made a appt at. But they said in French colors ok. No one spoke English and since I am from America and picked the prior hair salon because they said they speak English, I tried my best to show him the color I wanted. So the assistant put on my color and I sat for what seemed like 1 hour. And a different man washed my hair. Now he was amazing! Best shampoo and head massage I've ever had. Then I sat in the chair and after a little bit, the 1st man with glass' and no facial hair said so do you want a blow dry, and I said sure. Mistake..... I don't think he wanted to blow dry my hair which I wish he would of just said so... I haven't ever had such a rough blow out ever! He put no product on my hair and pushed around my head like he was angry. It was awful. On top of that my hair color is orange, yuck.... And they charged me 81.00. no cut ... Seriously. I can not speak for the others that work there, but the middle aged man who wears glasses and speaks english gave me the worst hair cut of my life. Alarm bells started ringing when he treated me and my hair with such little interest from the get go. While cutting my hair, he seemed more interested in watching people pass by outside, or making sharp comments to customers who didn't shut the glass door properly. He combed knots in my hair roughly and was annoyed that this would cause my head to move. Despite discussing the length and that I wanted to be able to still tuck the front sections behind my ears, my hair was 'attacked' with razor blade scissors shorter and shorter till my hair, which was below my shoulders, is now close to an 80's mullet, with the front sections the length of an old fringe you are desperately trying to grow out. My new undiscussed and unwanted fringe totally covers my eyes, unless I pin it back. There are random short pieces all over my head about 1.5 inches long, and the ends are wispy and in the same cow lick style mentioned by a reviewer below who I am certain had the same hairdresser as me as he also commented that that I 'had thick hair'. Not anymore, and no consultation with me that I wanted my thick hair thinned out with his amateur razor cutting techniques. I rarely feel compelled to write reviews, but I am motivated watching this man who clearly has no care for his job hack into hair that has taken years of care to grow.
