We had a tradition to go here every year to have our daughter pick out an ornament. We were turned away as they do not let children under 12 inside even if she was vaccinated and masked. This is their right as a private business, but I cannot think of a reasonable justification for this arbitrary age limit. And I'll probably never go back, which is my right as a consumer. read more

I am very disappointed. I saw this place on the news and took my 3 year old daughter there she was so excited. They never said anything on the news about children under 6 not being aloud! There was no sign on the door as well! My daughter and I stood there for 10 minutes waiting for them to come to the door she saw all the Christmas stuff though the door so excited !and she comes to the door and says no child under 6 aloud. My daughter was devastated and started balling her eyes out! Don't claim your establishment as a "family " exsperianice if your not allowing all children! I would have not allowed my child to touch anything or break anything! To see my daughters broken heart like that broke my heart! So mad about this. read more

We love this place, the service and personal touch from the owners is unmatched and I love their science-forward approach to running their business. I was looking for a manger scene for my mother's hand painted ornaments. You know the ones that had always been in my home as a kid. I needed to replace the old cardboard one she had bought at Gibson's 5&dime 50 years ago with something beautiful and that I could pass down with the figurines when the time came. I found Fontanini pieces galore here and pieced several of the individual pieces together to make a stunning new manger scene. It wasn't cheap. But these are collectors pieces that I will be proud to pass along one day. I can add more each year now that i have started. Merck light covers and Christmas cards you almost don't want to send they are so pretty, Steinbach nutcrackers and other hand painted, one of a kind actual art pieces for your holiday. I dare you to walk out without something - even if it's just a renewed joy for Christmas! You can spend a lot for some one of a kind pieces or a little for some small ornament or fun little doo dad. The change up their inventory around Halloween and Easter with the same enthusiasm they do Christmas. Check hours as they change by the season. Visiting Christmas Rocks was a Christmas tradition for us but it has ended in 2021. Our child loves coming here each year to pick out an ornament for our tree but we were turned away because the store isn't allowing children under 12. For the record, we were masked (4 layer cloth mask plus a 5 layer filter) & fully vaccinated. The age restriction is such an odd range considering children 5 and older are eligible to be vaccinated. My child was very disappointed she couldn't go in but we will definitely find another alternative for our ornament shopping tradition. I'm going to predict this small store will go out of business since so many families are being turned away & the owner is missing out on profits from their overpriced items. read more

This is the funnest little store you've never heard of--until now! My mom and I discovered them through their booth at the Houston Quilt Festival, and then scouted out their store front. Started by two ladies who decided they loved Christmas more than practicing law, this store is clearly their passion. It's located in a lovely house in the Upper Kirby district, just down the street and around the corner from the Bed Bath and Beyond. Once you step inside, though, you are worlds away from anything in the city. Even Scrooge would be bowled over by this shop! The whole place is filled with the cutest and loveliest ornaments and decorations of all kinds, including some harder-to-find pewter and Scandinavian pieces. If you're doing a themed tree or just want some fun, new ornaments to round out your usual tree, you will find it here. Most of the prices are very, very reasonable, and the selection is rounded out with the inclusion of some other gift items and children's books and toys in the back. I found several things I couldn't live without as did my mom. We both love everything from snowmen to owls and donkeys and reindeer and gnomes...it's all here and then some! I think some of their displays change with the seasons and other holidays, so you should find something different every time you visit. The service here is also wonderful. They know everything about every ornament they carry, and don't hesitate to make sure you're finding what you're looking for. I just really can't say enough nice things about this store! It is the cutest little shop jammed full of so much Christmas cheer is would turn the grinchiest heart to a heart full of the Christmas spirit. Looking for the perfect little ornament that looks like your fur baby? They got 'em. Looking for your Aggie, Longhorn, Texans, LSU, etc., etc., etc., sports team ornaments? They got 'em. How about Christmas dishes, rugs, nutcrackers, you name it, they got 'em! Picked myself up a few cute new ornaments for the tree this year and I definitely see me going back over the years to come to add to my ornament collection. As a consumer who always tries to follow the rules establishments put in place during covid their no children rule due to covid 19 is beyond ridiculous and I will be looking into the legality of policy. Children have been scientifically proven to be less susceptible to the virus and their is no proven facts that show they transmit the virus any more or any less than others. Wow, wow, and more wow!! It's a house in a neighborhood sort of hidden off of Alabama and I must say you're in for Christmas heaven if you walk in. If you need any extra Christmas ornaments or any other decorations, you can find them in this house filled with marvelous action figures and statues. They also have children's books and other action figures, plus a Santa Claus that I thought was real for a second! The people who are selling items at this location are very polite and were glad to show us around to find the right things we needed. I will come back probably later before Christmas to see what ornaments I can find that I would want to use in the future. Of all the Christmas stores I've been to this year to look for Christmas tree items, this is the best one hands-down. I ran around town to find ornaments and when I ran into the store, I was shocked to see all these beautiful things in this house. If you are near Alabama and San Felipe, come down to this location and just pop in. Be prepared to be amazed by all these action figures, books, and other magnificent ornaments you can buy for your Christmas tree. I'm pretty sure it is used for other holidays around the year, so I hear. I will see about traveling down here to explore for Halloween, or Fourth of July. I love their Christmas theme and really thought it was a smart idea to make this house into a shop with wonderful knickknacks and figurines. Deserves five stars all the way because it was the best Christmas store I've been to in Houston yet. read more

I'm dreaming of a White Christmassssssss. Just like the ones I used to know. Ok enough of my virtual singing. This place is PACKED full of Christmas stuff. Tons of hand crafted ornaments, mini trees, nutcrackers and whatever else you can think of. Even if you don't plan on buying anything, I would go just to look around and get in that Christmas spirit. My mom would definitely have a field day in this store and it definitely reminded me of Christmas as a kid. Only downside is that the decorations are a little expensive for my taste. I would recommend this place for buying a special decoration of significance (ie babys first Christmas ornament or a gift for someone else), not for decorating the entire house. read more

I didn't know lawyers could be passionate about anything but the law until I stumbled upon this everything-Christmas-all-the-time store. We never had a real tree during our marriage until this year, so we needed ornaments! They have everything you'll need when starting out. We bought ornaments that look like our cats (so?!) and a few other cute items. The women who run it are so friendly and carefully wrap your purchases. What a delightful little Christmas nook! I ventured out in the rain and found shelter in Christmas Rocks! this afternoon and was very impressed. I rang a bell at the front door and two nice ladies greeted me. The store is full of beautiful Christmas trinkets. The ladies said they also celebrate other holidays throughout the year. They directed me to a beautiful little snow bunny figurine that I will cherish forever. I also picked up some snowman earrings, a snowman pin, and a snowman nightlight for my grandmother. I also want to mention that almost eveything in the store is ridiculously affordable. I only paid $35 for everything. Not too bad when you are watching your wallet around Christmas time. I always find something special in their large inventory and great assortment. Depending on when you visit, there is often a bit of decor for other upcoming holidays, ie. Easter or Halloween, etc. Very friendly, helpful staff that is very knowledgable about their collectibles and speciality items.
