What can I say. Nothing fancy but it's solidly consistently good. Ordered 2 steak tacos a la carte along with side of chips abs salsa. Flavorful steak. Fresh tasty guacamole & Pico de gallo. I prefer this place to some fancier taco restaurants. Friendly service. There's 5 bar top level tables stools & bench. Clean floors and tables. Went in for lunch for my weekly burrito. A new manager so graciously told me that this time, and this time only would he give me salsa for my burrito at no charge as a courtesy. What? As a courtesy your giving me salsa for my burrito? in which I have received for countless weeks at no charge. No plans on going back, tons of other Mexican places around that give you salsa complimentary with your burrito, not as a "courtesy". My suggestion, go somewhere else. read more

Ordered the small burrito with shrimp, the young girl (didn't get her name but she looked to be of Indian decent for reference and seemed miserable) taking my order said I would have to wait 4-5 minutes outside while they cook the shrimp and she would come get me to finish building the burrito once the shrimp was done. I only had 30 minutes on my lunch break but walk outside as directed, 15 minutes pass and she does not come to get me so I walk back inside and stand there waiting and she waives her hand to signal me to come as if the she had been waiting for me. I walk up to the glass to finish ordering and there's literally 4 pieces of shrimp in the burrito. Like seriously I just waited 15 minutes for 4 pieces of shrimp, I asked and she said that's all they give in a burrito. She then continued on too sluggishly throw the remaining ingredients in my burrito and sloppily roll it, it fell apart while I was trying to eat it. Won't ever come back here. read more

I had Al pastor tacos and the meat was very chewy and disgusting. I had to constantly spit pieces out and It was really annoying. Service is okay. But the meat in the food is just awful. Worker today made me the smallest burreto I've ever seen. 1 spoon rice, 1 spoon meat, half a watery spoon of beans and not even half a spoon if guac. Tries to charge me exyra for quac without saying anything when my brother just hot his (also terribly prepared) burrito. Never coming here again. Manager tried to charge me $2.99 for side order of chips & salsa. When I pointed out the menu says it's $1.50, he rudely says, "the menu is wrong, it's $2.99". When I pointed out the $2.99 price is for the chips & guac, again, he rudely says, "that's wrong, too." I told him I didn't want the chips & salsa for $2.99, cause the portions and sizes are ridiculously small, he got upset and said, "whatever". When I left this location, I went home and looked up the prices at other locations, and every other Chronic Tacos I found has the price as $1.50. I sent an email to Chronic corporate through their website form, because I thought maybe this location is different, and so too are their prices, but nobody has responded so I don't have an answer I know it's only a matter of $1.49 difference, but the manager at the Costa Mesa location was a rude ass, and nobody from corporate has responded to my question. First impressions are everything. And this visit gave me a terrible impression of the business. I'm microwaving my burrito I bought less than ten minutes ago as I write this, btw. What they lack in customer service, they don't make up with their product. I walk in, dude in the back yells "hi welcome!" He seemed like a friendly employee. There were two girls working up front. Neither one smiled the entire time I was there. Once I decided what I want I placed my order. She just kind of stood there after asking what I wanted as I tried to look and see what the toppings were. I didn't know what anything was! I asked for a mild salsa, cheese, guac, and sour cream. America rings me up, asks if I was just having a burrito. I saw that you can get chips, salsa and a drink for an extra $2.49. Hey, chips and salsa sounds great! So I told her I'd like to do a combo. I pay, she hands me my bag. I look in, no salsa. So I ask, "do I get salsa with this?" She literally looked irritated and annoyed by that and asked "what kind?" I get my salsa, go to the soda machine and pour a Dr Pepper. It looked dark, so I took a sip before heading out the door. It's flat. Zero carbonation. I say "I think your carbonation is out". America looks at me and says "yeah, it is." Umm, thanks for the heads up when I ordered the combo with a fountain drink. I get home, the bag of chips is pathetic. It was half-full and there were 10-15 chips in it tops. Then, I open my burrito, take a bite. It's cold. How? I JUST bought it! I honestly love this place. The food is amazing and the portions are really filling. It's always a pleasant experience, but my last experience was something to write about! It was lunch time and there was a line out the door but the staff seemed to be handling orders expertly. It's my turn and I order a vegetarian breakfast burrito and a vegetarian taco (it was a tough day, okay?). Now I've been vegetarian for seven years and I've learned how to not be a total ass when I'm ordering-especially during a crowded lunch rush. The server promptly asked "so are you a real vegetarian?" And I said yes and his helpful reply was "okay so you'll want our white rice, our other rice is made with chicken broth, and all of our beans are vegetarian." I was shocked to hear this helpful information without any obnoxious prodding on my part. Usually I opt for the white rice and black beans, safe choices for vegetarians, as to avoid a long list of questions for my order. I got to try refried beans! It gets better! Even with the line of people and what I'm sure was a very hectic list of orders, Dylan actually changed his gloves to complete my order. I exclaimed "did you just change gloves after touching meat for my vegetarian order?!?!" And he was like "yeah of course, we got you!" I couldn't believe it. Have been coming here regularity since April. I go to school nearby. Won't be back. There was a blonde guy and a girl with brown hair with hats on. The girl helping us didn't have a hat on. She said her name is Sinaya. I ordered carne asada fries and said there will be a few more orders. She ignored me. Then my friend ordered carne asada fries and she got mad and said "how many more fry orders are there gonna be." With a huge attitude. I said "I just told you there would be more." She said again loudly "how many more?" We said three and she ignored us and just started making fries. When she started topping them I said "don't we get beans and rice?" And she huffs and started putting them on. She made my friends the same without asking what she wanted on them. I asked why she was being so rude to us & she said she wasn't. The person in front of us in line said "she was totally being rude to you." We walked out and my friend stayed in there and she told me friend "I wasn't being rude. This bright spot made my day! Everything is freshly made with high quality ingredients. One sample of their food had me hooked! Everything I ordered, 2 carne asada tacos, black beans, Mexican rice, chips and salsa, tasted DELICIOUS! Nick took my order. He was very friendly, cheerful and quite informative on everything! His co- worker, Jake, was also very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. It didn't hurt that they were both easy on the eyes and were quick to flash their warm and genuine smiles! My worst first experience coming to this place/location. There was a female employee who looked like she didn't want to do shit. She made the food terribly and was rushing me for my order and there were no other customers besides me in the store. I am going to contact corporate as well and do her a favor, so she can find a job else where because food service clearly isn't for her. If you're going to put in work like that then get a different job and change that bitchy attitude. There was no need and the food tasted horrible and i'm very upset with my experience overall. I'm writing this review solely based on their customer service. We placed a phone order and their was a mistake with it. When we called the location back after having gotten home. We were told by the employee that answered that she didn't take our order because she was at lunch and I can call back later. I decided to ask to speak to a manager as I didn't think I should have to call back to speak to another employee. The same lady then said the manager would be there tomorrow. I then tried asking her what it is that we could do now? and when I did she decided to hang up on me. I did write a comment to Corporate as I don't believe that is remotely reasonable for an employee to do to a customer. Corporate did write back saying they were sorry of my experience and they would forward my comment to the franchisee of this location. I actually never heard from them and it's been at least two weeks, so at least any prospective buyers can now read my experience and know the kind of customer service they will deal with here. read more

The three girls behind the counter were more interested in chatting with each other. Not once did they even acknowledge our presence. I've been eating fish tacos since trips to Baja in the 1990s. I absolutely love the fish tacos that Chronic makes. The corn tortillas are nice and thick but not dry (as with Wahoo's). You get a good amount of fish on each taco, toppings are excellent, their salsas are terrific, and there's no extra charge for a blop of guacamole on top. Always excellent! read more
