I opened a business just over a year ago and sought a few quotes for a security system. I settled with Chubb Security Alarms, knowing I was signing a three-year contract. However, I asked how much it would be to cancel prior to the three years and was told it would cost $500.00 to end the contract early. The security system was lousy - we had false alarms every week, (I went to the store twice on Christmas Day for false alarms). Eventually, we just ignored the alarm calls. Cut to a year later and we moved the business. I did NOT want the security system any longer and called to end the contract. I learned it had been sub-contracted to Counterforce alarms, a sister company of Chubb Edwards. I was also told that I would have to pay the full three years for the contract.
