The multi-generational congregation is extremely caring and friendly, the worship is engaging and meaningful with both traditional and contemporary music each week, and the biblically sound and powerful preaching by Pastor Gunnar Tesdahl is absolutely phenomenal. His ability to deliver God's Word in a way that is truthful, relevant, inspiring and impactful has personally helped me to grow deeper in my faith. I also love that there is something for all ages available for everyone from kids Sunday school classes and VBS, to events throughout the week like Alpha, Moms prayer groups, support groups or fellowship at the on-site coffee shop. The sanctuary and grounds are stunning as well. This growing and healthy church truly loves Jesus and loves the community! Don't hesitate to make SYVPC your church home!

Amazing Church (From…read morea year ago) My wife and I were looking for a church to renew our vowels in the area and GOD directed us here. We arrived as the Mother's Day service ended and church was already locked up and the pastor was sitting outside w a few of the members and we informed him about our situation and he offered to open the church up for us so we can renew our vowels. We were so blessed as I told my wife of all the churches I've been to, I have never heard of or experienced anything where they reopen a church once it is locked up. Afterwards we got to talk to him and a few members and they gave us a little history of this church. We returned a year later to celebrate and church members are still incredibly friendly and welcoming! Also they opened a coffee house open from 7:30 to 2 Monday thru Friday! It's called Holy Grounds Cafe (see review). Such a blessing! Praise the LORD

If you have ever been curious, my dear Yelp Review Reader, in visiting a "California Spanish…read moreMission" then the Old Mission Santa Ines might be just "the ticket" you're looking for. It is listed as the 19th of 21 Spanish Missions in CA...founded in 1804 , completed in 1807. The mission contains a working Catholic Church, a chapel (closed on the weekends), beautiful gardens, cemetery, museum and gift shop. There is plenty of parking available. To take the self guided tour...enter the Gift Shop and pay the fee. Once paid, the Attendant will present you with a map and general directions and off you go! If you're there when there is a "service" in the Church, the museum door to the Church is locked so you'll need to enter the Church from its main entrance. The museum has lots of interesting items, but the collection of 15th century Vestments is stunning (a must see). The beautiful gardens have walking paths along which there are several small stone structures (Shrines) that are very picturesque and worth visiting. We spent at least 2.5 hours "taking it all in" and enjoyed this visit and the conversations it inspires tremendously. On this occasion...in this Yelper's opinion, the Old Mission Santa Ines surpassed expectations and delivered a powerful look in history past...truly earning this "if you have an interest, then take the time to see this" 5 Star Review.

I moved to this town almost 4 years ago. When I came here, I had friends from my old town telling…read moreme to go, plus I heard about the church everywhere in this new town. This church was/is so active in the community, it was hard to be somewhere that they weren't serving! They're at the parades, festivals, Friday night farmer's market... everywhere! Still, I was afraid to go because I thought that "Foursquare" meant a more charismatic environment that required cartwheels and all of the showy displays of "faith" that have made me uncomfortable at other places in the past. I don't remember exactly how, but finally I saw these people so much and they seemed normal enough, that I consented to trying it out one Sunday. My impressions are: 1 they are normal people who are learning, loving, and serving God by being his hands and feet 2 Pastor Bernie is teaching the truth. No fire and brimstone scare tactics. No messages of judgement. Also not the trendy motivational speaking type of new age sermons. It is balanced and compassionate and I believe that is how it should be. 3 the sanctuary doesn't feel heavy and imposing and the feeling of being there is not of judgement. You aren't pressured to be on show to wear your biggest hat or your wrinkle free khakis. You can come as you are and you will be welcomed. 4 the music at the church is great! The worship team presents different types of sounds. Sometimes, it's 3 or 4 singers, sometimes a choir, sometimes it's rock, sometimes it's country style hymns. 5 the children's ministry is awesome. The community outreach is amazing. They do an annual harvest festival to provide a safe and fun evening for kids on Halloween, we had a great time at the snow day, and throughout the rest of the year, they are holding events open to the community. There's a ministry that goes to visit the convalescent center and another for the coffee shop where you can watch the service and another to celebrate recovery. There's a ministry for everyone to serve and be served through 6 this church really does look for ways to bless others. They have a heart for God and when he speaks, they listen and respond 7 I'm not sure why I was so scared to walk into this church because it is a gem. When you're faced with needing to find a church home, this is the kind of place that you hope to find, a place that is not about putting on airs. A place that is filled with people who are are filled with the Spirit. I'm so glad that we finally came and I hope that we will be able to enjoy many more years here!
