It's a popular stop for the lottery range of tickets too. The owners and staff are friendly and welcoming.

I've just got a job near this shop and I'm sure I'll be saving loads ever month because the stock is reasonably priced (I used to work near McColls on Temple Way). The inside of the shop and the services on offer both follow suit. It's a well laid out place with freshly made sandwiches, chocolates and drinks for the food side of things. The newspapers and magazines are a broad range touching on every subject from lots of kid's comics to the, well, more risqué numbers. To push the benchmark even further there's a really nice little bit at the back offering some Asian whole foods and further in, a really good choice of red wine, whiskey and brandy. For an Evening Post shop, or indeed any shop, this one's made a real effort.

Laughing at me as I walked in drenched and looking like a drowned rat, he had no shame in telling me all about the sun, the heat and the warm evenings he enjoys back at home. Weather aside, the shop is really good for fruit and veg, alcohol supplies and the general items you expect to find in a newsagent. I usually come in here for water, which I usually resent buying, but the bottled water is sooooo cheap here- around 30p.

Your usual selection of Newspapers, including of course, the great and mighty Evening Post! (which seems to lack favour among Yelpers!). Basically they sell papers and mags plus a small range of groceries, including bread, milk and eggs. What makes it great, though, is the friendly and slightly eccentric guy who runs the place. He's well known in the area for his friendly, flattering greetings. Men will receive, 'Hey, boss man, how's it going?'; while women are greeted with, 'Where's your boyfriend, James Bond?' A really cheery bloke, and he always remembers my regular order, this is what a local shop should be all about.
